Depend Adjustable Underwear, Large/X-Large, 16-Count Packages (Pack of 4)

Hello. My name is Bryan and I am a paraplegic...I have been using Depend brand underwear for a long time now. I broke my back in the summer of 2001 and with physical therapy was able to regain the ability to walk. I still had trouble with incontinence so I used Depend's regular pull-up underwear for quite some time. However, the specter of Spinal Arteriovenous Malformation (http://spinalavminfo.com/) reared its ugly head in July of 2011. Although I was diagnosed fairly quickly, the corrective surgery wasn't performed in time and I lost the use of my legs. This made it very difficult to change my underwear if I had to while using the bathroom. I then discovered Depend's Adjustable Underwear. They provide the same level of protection that you come to expect from Depend, but what makes this version of their underwear so special is that you don't have to "pull up" in order to wear them. While they can be used like standard briefs, you can, if you choose to, rip them apart at the perforated line near the hips and hold them together with the built in hook and loop tabs. It's a fairly simple matter to take them off while sitting on the toilet and the same goes for putting on a new pair. While you still have to inch them up the rest of the way after attaching the Velcro-like tabs, that is definitely preferable to having to bend down, remove your pants and get your feet into each hole before pulling them up. The same goes for lying in bed. There have been times where, for whatever reason, I was just too weak or sleepy to take off my sweat pants if I had been using standard underwear. With the adjustable, I can just do the "roll from side to side" method of putting them on. The construction quality is very good as is the adhesion characteristics of the finely textured hook and loop tabs. There is no corresponding "loop" pad on the underwear for the "hook" tabs to attach to; the material is suitably "loopy" enough for the tabs to adhere and that they do well. Thus there is no obvious and annoying extra material there to notice. Thus they are just as comfortable as the standard briefs. Probably the only bad mark I can find is the occasional slight mass production error like a tab misaligned but these are few and far between and don't render the underwear unusable. In the end, this is another fine product from Depend geared for those of us who have a few more problems than just incontinence. I highly recommend that you give them a try!A note about purchasing from Amazon: I started buying these in bulk on Amazon since finding them in stores in my size (I have a 42 inch waist so I'm just a bit larger than the Small which I can use but are pretty tight) is often difficult. I don't know if it's because the L/XL size is immensely popular but it is just too hard to reliably find them locally. Thus, I found that buying the 4-pack on Amazon was the best way to go as far as being able to reliably find the size that I need at a good price.A note on pricing: I have found that the price of this style in bulk rapidly and seemingly wildly fluctuates online. If you search well and often, you should be able to find what you need for a few pennies less than what you can find in brick and mortar stores AND often with the free Super Saver Shipping (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=527692). If you do end up using the Super Saver Shipping, MAKE SURE that you allot enough time for the product to reach you. I have found that while the product will usually arrive quickly, from time to time, for whatever reason, there is a delay of some kind. I just wanted to add this review because the Depends Adjustables have been such a huge help in caring for my 14 yr old Akita. I could not find any disposable products for dogs that would even come close to fitting him. He is a giant breed but a bit on the tall lanky side, his current weight is only 80lbs (94 at max) and his waist is 36 inches. They fit him well but he is using it lengthwise so don't use this fact to decide on a person's use. Once I tear along the perforated sides the diaper can be used as a male wrap. My Akita drinks lots of water and needs extra protection so I also line the diaper with two assurance male guard maximum pads placed side by side to increase protection where he urinates. (They are a brand sold only at the big blue store). The pads do a good job as long as the diaper stays in position allowing me to remove the pad with little or no damage to the diaper extending the diapers use. Since the pads are a little less expensive this may be a good option for people as well, or may help provide extra protection for overnight. The price is competitive at the big blue store but I also found they are not always in stock so I'm subscribing here on Amazon today.

My mother has been bedridden for several years and no longer has the need for pull-up style protective underwear (which we began buying for her when she was ambulatory). Because we were so satisfied with the quality and dependability (no pun intended), we didn't want to change brands. Then we noticed that this particular style of Depend's Underwear also adapted well to her non-ambulatory state. The tabs, once opened, reveal a perforation which allows them to open completely into a "diaper" which is properly shaped for the female form. Because of their superiority in absorbency as compared to other brands, we were pleased to be able to continue using them through this stage in her care. Although Hospice provides many products for her, they do not allow for personal preference when it comes to procuring them, so we have continued to purchase this product at our own expense because of its superiority. I highly recommend them to anyone giving care to an elderly loved one!

I bought this product for my mom, she can't move around to well , she love these depends, she said they are a life saver. the only problem I had the last time I order it took more than 30days for me to get them, I never had that problem before so I hoping it will not happen again. I give it a 5star because my momma love them.

I like the Depends Velcro, because I can tighten it as I need too, and it helps so much. I live in a small area, and our Walmart had Depends Velcro until about 3 months ago. There are not many stores, and the others do not have them, so ordering or doing without was the only idea. Thank you for the chance you have given me to let me order, and you have done a very good job in getting it to me quickly. Thank you!

It sure would be nice of the makers of these products would designate which is the front and which is the back. I have enough trouble getting them on once without having to remove them and flip them around. A few makers do add this little touch but most don't. As much as these cost I don't think a little stamp of ink is too much to ask.

I have been buying this product for over 9 years. Over this time the quality has considerably declined. These Depends are thinner, smaller (for the exact same size), and the tabs are lacking glue. I hope that with enough consumer complaints, the manufacturer will begin some quality control!Also, Amazon now has put this on Prime. Because of this I will take my business elsewhere until they decide to place this back on the open market. I do not want to join Prime at this time, when I can get these Depends elsewhere for the same price without Prime in a reasonable delivery time. Amazon needs to take these off Prime to get my business back!
