The Colonel X2L, great brush at first, but didn't last a year
I have been wet shaving for forty years and have owned a few brushes in that time. After a few cheap brushes I have purchased premium Super badger brushes for the past thirty years. The good brushes lasted over ten years each and by the time I need to replace them (after the rush becomes thin and floppy) the labels were worn off and the receipts long gone, so every search for a new brush seems to start from scratch. This time I ended up with the Colonel X2L. I wanted something firm but soft and with a bigger knot than the smaller brushes and that is exactly what I got in the Colonel. My choice of Best Badger over Super Badger hair was in the interest of getting a slightly firmer brush. Although it is not as big and tall as some of my other brushes, and I do miss that a bit, the quality is excellent. I have only shaved with it for a week, and it has lost a few bristles, like three or four, good indication of a well made brush. The nice flair on the base of the handle gives me a good grip when I shake the water out of the brush after shavingUpdate: After owning the brush for eleven months and using it regularly four days per week it began to lose more and more hairs, until finally I stopped using it altogether. I have always taken good care of the brush and rinsed it and shook out excess water every time I shaved with it. I began to pick out the loose hairs before shaving every morning, but it kept losing hairs as I lathered up, often leaving two or three tickling hairs on my face. When using it went from being a pleasure to unpleasant, I parked it on the shelf. I have attached a picture of the brush showing the number of hairs that fell out every day until I stopped using it.

Awesome!! Best I've Used!
Wonderful brush!!! I have used some of the cheaper brushes over the past few years (brushes under $50) and they don't compare!! This Simpsons brush feels like the high-quality handmade brush that it is! This brush hasn't lost a single hair since I've gotten it. I have used it three times since it arrived. The knot is super thick and the brush is soft. Produces a marvelous lather. Just wow!! Couldn't have expected better. Well worth the price.

Simpsons Colonel X2L Brush - 5 Star!
Just received this brush and already love it. Quality best badger, doesn't shed. Out of the box there was no odor. Has some backbone and firmness yet feels soft on the face. Well worth the price. For those starting out, don't waste your money on lower priced but inferior brushes. Do it right and make this your first brush, you won't be disappointed.

New favorite brush, very well made
Excellent brush. There was minimal shedding as expected for the first few shaves and break in period. Full knot, well made, smells like a badger for a week. The handle is a great size (2) and fits into a shaving stand easily. Not too big or too small. My new favorite brush.

Don't Wait - Get Yours Now
Never used a brush before. I was told to get the Simpsons Colonel and that advice was sound. Great brush, whips the shaving cream into a foamy lather and its easy to clean up afterwards. Wish I hadn't waited so long.

Very Satisfied!!
This brush is awesome! A huge upgrade from my previous and first brush. Soap loads great, builds a good lather. It does shed a few hairs from time to time but doesn't seem too bad. I wash it out good each time it gets used and I hang it up to dry out. Good knot size for my needs.
