F4 Coin Shooting Metal Detector

This is my first detector ever so I have nothing to compare it to! But this detector is very user friendly, very comfortable and lightweight! It DOES come with two 9-volt batteries, well mine did but they put them in backwards so they didn't loose a charge! Also they say it can go into water but to be careful about the water inside the hollow shaft since the display is not waterproof. I solved this problem by taking a rubber/plastic cap you would put on a waling cane or on the bottom of chairs to prevent slipping and adding a touch of waterproof epoxy to it and insert it into the shaft! Boom, water proof for 3 feet without worries! Just be sure to add this plug above the adjustment notches! It does detect gold and silver but there isn't a display mode for that metal, just did everything! The audio is loud and crisp, the pinpoint option works amazing and the discrimination option is nice if you want to avoid iron junk!If you are looking for your first detector and can afford this, buy it! The next one I buy will be fully waterproof and has a GPS tracking feature but those are expensive!This detector is SO easy to use right out of the box! So far I have not found any values but did find old shotgun brass about 8" deep and a old rusty horseshoe about 10" deep! So depth is amazing on this F4!The only con on this is that you will get the occasional false reading but after looking into it, it is most likely due to the minerals in the ground, not the machine.

Works well, need to spend more time learning how to use it. Bought it to find metal stakes that are on property boundaries.

This is my first machine I purchased two years ago. I travel from Alaska to South Carolina year round. I'm a 9/11 combat veteran so this hobby lets me enjoy the things I lost. The very first day it arrived. It was ready to go with batteries included. Amazing finds the first day with tokens given to there employees as pay in the late 1800's saw mill. Many other cool finds but somethings that you dig don't show up on a metal detector. I found a jade ads close to a target I was digging. You will find things that no metal detector could pick up. This is my best find yet and much older than any coin. Many hours over rough terrain the F4 did it's job. My first oldest coin is a 1885 about a foot down in discrimination mode. Next was tungsten which aluminum ore was right next to it. Aluminum can not be picked up by a metal detector. Here are the picks of my finds.

I own 2 basic bounty hunter metal detectors. I have been metal detecting for years. I love my hobby. After years of having my simple cheap machines and lots of practicing digging up foil and pull tabs, I figured i was going to invest in a more sophisticated machine. I purchased this one, after reading many reviews. Super disappointed. This machine is very cheaply made, the all metal mode is a joke. If you like digging up quarters and dimes, then this is a machine for you. I tried out this machine and tried to detect one of my own gold rings. This was a waste of time. Discrimination mode is useless, numbers that are appearing on screen are always changing, even when I am detecting (waving my ring in front of it) the same object. There are many interference and it just doesn't deliver. the pin point feature is another waste of time. Sorry fisher, your F4 is a overpriced simple machine. I am saving up for White's metal detector.

If you are in gold country, pass on the F4. It's frequency is on the far end of the low spectrum, and that means it has a hard time "seeing" gold, so small nuggets will get passed by. I've seen claims of its discriminator being able to separate gold, but that's just sales hype. If it can't see gold, it can't discriminate it from junk, and when gold is seen, it can come in as iron, bottle caps, tinfoil, etc. If you're not in gold country and considering this unit, I'd recommend the F2 with the double D 11" coil. The F4 has more sophisticated discrimination, but still, with mine I find a lot of bottle caps and junk coming in as coins, so I'm back in "dig everything" mode so I don't miss good targets that fool my F4's discriminator. If you do buy the F4, get a package deal that includes tools and a 4" sniper coil. You'll spend money on this stuff later, so get it in the package and save a lot.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. He needed a hobby and loves the outdoors so I thought this was perfect. I did a lot of research before buying and this brand kept coming up. It is very user friendly and he was out using it within minutes of receiving it. I would recommend this brand and model to anyone who has been thinking of buying one.

Well when I first received my detector I had the setting way to high,so it was a little jumpy? It didn't Identify the coins properly. So when I set the Search to 3" instead of 6". Holy smokes !! It was on the money! These units are super powerful. All you need is the set it on 3" and it will easily go 6". I found alot of quarter, pennies and dimes. Nothing to old , but it works great:)

the operating manual could be a bit more helpful I went on you tube and watch a video on how to use it ..so far I am starting to learn how to get the hang of it , it is a little hard to use I don't think it worth the money I give it its for sure not for beginners
