HYCC 100pcs 4.6 * 300mm Stainless Steel Cable Zip Ties Exhaust Wrap Coated Locking

Saw these on project farm YouTube channel and thought I'd try themWow they're so strong I wish I'd known about these years ago .I've used them to install stainless weld mesh on gates. They're incredibly strong... almost impossible to break with out cutting them with tin snips.

Stainless steel cable ties are great for use in UV or heat-related installations. Like securing your heat shielding under the hood of your car. Problem you'll encounter is that the ties attach in a pseudo backwards method, rather than at a right angle with ribbed teeth facing inwards on plastic ties. Not only that, you simply CANNOT pull them maximum tight using finger strength, unless you are a super he-man she-woman Amazon hand-strength person. Best way is to use an expensive INSTALL PISTOL (if it clears the working space) or TWO sets of pliers, and gloves. Using pliers works okay: use a slip-joint simple pliers sideways to press back against the plane of the locking head; then use another needle nose or duckbill pliers to pull back on the stainless tail that you inserted into the locking head. You'll probably have to wind the tail in a circle to get a tight grip, using the slip-joint pliers as a fulcrum. Success!! With PRACTICE. These stainless cable ties seem well made. None of them failed during install unless I applied pressure incorrectly with only ONE set of pliers, in which case the stress damaged the locking head. Recommended, for applications that need extra durability. After you cut the excess tail off, I suggest you apply a glob of high temp silicone gasket maker, or similar product, onto the locking head, to keep the sharp edges covered up.

After seeing a zip tie review on “Project Farm” on YouTube, where the failure load was many times higher than the weatherized plastic ties I’d been using on the winter cover on my sailboat (fabric cover over a skeleton of plastic electrical conduit) Every year I’d come back several times during the winter, find several ties had snapped, snow had accumulated in the resulting depression, and the frame inside the cover had snapped ribs and begun the process of collapse. I was never sure if the problem was the zip ties or the plastic conduit failing under load.This year I tried these metal zip ties and I’ve had zero problems- not one has failed, even in a day of howling icy winds last week. One danger is that they’re as sharp as a razor, so I had to carefully tape over each tie, so that a dangling tip or edge doesn’t slice through the cover. A small price to pay to avoid the endless repairs. I love these things!Edit from several years later: I’ve now gone through several winters using these, and NEVER had one fail under load. Awesome!
