Does this have a lip around it to protect it when laying on a table etc...without it hitting its screen ?

It has a very small lip. It protects it when you set it down but it would not protect it if you drop it.

does it have a plastic cover to protect the face too?

no - only the back and sides are protected. I like the accessability of the face and feel that the side bumpers provide adequate protection for the face, as they wrap around ever so slightly.

Are the edges raised over the front of the phone? like a speck and otterbox cases?

The edges are raised very slightly, but hardly enough to notice unless you touch them. This is enough, however, to protect the phone when it is face down on a flat surface. I don't know what speck and otter box cases are, so I can't say if they are similar. Hope this helps.

is the bumper around the edge rubbery or is it a hard plastic?

It's a hard flexible rubber that allows u to slide it over the 5s.

the best 5S/SE clear case out there!

by far the best case i have used. this beats the likes of spigen or any other branded case which also cost 10x the price by a LONG margin!! mine hasnt discolored or gone yellow as yet and am at 2 mts now. the spigens i had went yellow in just 3 weeks! the fit is snug and it sits flush with the device. offers ample protection and has saved my phone on many occasions. also saves the tempered glass from cracking, and lastly, makes the phone look gorgeous while letting it exude its original awesomeness! kick ass!

This case for my new iPhone SE is very cute and sturdy. Certainly it absorbs the shock in case of a fall. I strongly recommend. It's transparent and the original look of iPhone is not lost.
