UPDATE (06/10/2020): I’m back up to doing gentle 5K runs 3 times a week and the shoes are superb. The cushioning protects my ankles and knees really well. Highly recommended.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I’ve long been a fan of the GT2000 range and had previously been using the version 5 - I was long overdue an upgrade.I used the Asics site to check which size would be the best fit and decided on the Grand Shark/Black version.This is an outstanding running shoe - potentially the best I’ve ever worn. I say ‘potentially’ because my knees mean I can only go for walks rather than run at the moment.What I can say is that the fit and support are excellent. The shoe is incredibly comfortable right out of the box.Asics have managed to make the GT2000 8 both very light and very supportive. It’s so comfortable that I can wear this literally all day.I love the colour scheme too.I should be back up to light runs in a few weeks and will revisit this review at that time. I have every expectation that I’ll continue to love the shoe.

There's not much I can really add to the millions of words that have been written about ASICS' cash cow. This was a repeat buy for me (and if you look at my pile of old trainers, you'll see that I'm an ASICS loyalist), so it maintains my happiness levels rather than excites me. They know how to manage a shoe factory, so there are no build issues. The design suits my foot, my weight and my running style, such as it is. I'm quite pleased with the now minimalist fabric weight used on the upper, but really pleased that the sole retains its traditional chunky tendencies. I've chosen a colour that doesn't scare the wildlife or attract sneers from Da Yoof. It would be perfect if it came in £10 or £20 cheaper, but we are where we are.

I needed a stabilised running shoe to protect my knees and feet when running due to being rather heavy.

I found these on the tight side and the tongue was longer than other trainers. They were not as comfortable as my others. I am used to wearing thin trainer socks and these cannot not be worn with these trainers. You will need a thicker sock that comes further up the ankle.I was of two minds as to whether to keep them or not.They are a good quality but as I was doubtful so I decided to return them.

My daily wear now....Trendy.... stylish and comfortable. High quality with a Good support sole. Love it.

I have bought several pairs of Asics Gel Kayano and loved them. I use them primarily for walking the odd run. However these trainers I found that after 2-3 miles of walking my heels were getting really sore and the trainers are not supporting my heel. Unfortunately cannot return them as I have used outside. Disappointing but others may say different. Maybe I am too heavy

shoe is high quality with good grip and comfort, the shoe is slightly bigger than the size listed however this is perfect as many runners know you need a little toe space to protect your nails from impact. I would suggest walking a few miles with these to let them break in, I was too eager and ran with mine right away and it made my heels very sore. Perfect value for money! Always stick with Asics

Asics are the only running shoes so far that I can guarantee will be instantly good-to-go. I previously had GT-2000 7s which have reached the end of the road (pardon the pun) and these 8s are perfect. Not had a single blister, no rubbing, no need to break them in, just perfect straight out-of-the-box. Nice and lightweight. I recommend them without hesitation.
