Day-Timer Starter Set Organizer, Bonded Leather, Potable Size, Black (D41746)

I recently spent over $140 on leather calendar/date-keeper by another, very famous company. However, the way this other company organizes its various sections is counter-productive, inefficient, stupid and annoying. If, for example, you want to separate the months with tabs - Jan., Feb., etc. - you have to stick your own tabs on - a mess. You can special-order opaque separators with monthly tabs, but they are useless, because the end of each month on the calendar shares a page with the beginning of the next month. Last year I found an excellent product by Day-Timer at a local box store. But the store doesn't carry it anymore. Hence, the expensive mistake mentioned above. So I went to Amazon and found this wonderful, small product. I also bought it in a desk version, but the small one is so good, has so many excellent, sensible features that I plan to use it on-the-go and at my desk. You actually get monthly calendars with tabs, so you can flip directly to a particular month without leafing through page after page until you find the one you want. You get a phone directory with letter-tabs... you know: a,b,c, which did not come with the more famous company's product. Theirs had only blank pages for names, addresses, phone numbers. This recycled leather model is very well made, looks very high quality and costs a heck of a lot less than a new-leather version; the zipper works like Teflon and never jams; it's fat enough to stuff with all sorts of pockets, pads, zip lock bags, business cards, photos, paper clips, pens, etc. It truly is a splendid little item, which I plan to use for years to come and which I recommend without reservation.

I purchased this handy planner in 9/2019; so just shy of a year and a half. It’s great! I mean for the $25 I purchased it for then, I got more than I expected. Yes, it’s bonded leather, and not the higher quality end of leather fibers (bonded leather is not going to feel like strong, supple, and natural leather), but the price reflects that. It looks as good as the day I got it, and the zipper is holding up better than some of its more expensive counterparts. I’ve owned a lot of planners and I am so hard on them. I’m shocked this is still whole, let alone in great shape.If you expect a coach brand quality leather product for under $30, keep shopping. If you want something to get the job done, this is it. One thing I did have to do was get extra tabs, I need one on every page practically.Handy, durable, and reusable; refills are very inexpensive.

The product looks nice from the outside; appropriate in a professional setting, but also not too fancy to be used casually. There are some extras included that I did not expect (business card holder, ruler, etc...).I gave this item three stars for a few reasons. One is that the item does not open flat. I read in the reviews that this would be a problem, and therefore expected it; however, I did not expect the fact that it will NEVER lay flat. I assumed that with wear, it would eventually be able to lay flat, but I was wrong. When trying to bend the item so that it lay's flat, the rings will open and bend which damages them and makes the binder un-useable. Luckily, I realized this prior to causing irreversible damage.Another reason is the super tiny print used for the planner. I assumed the print would not be large; however, the print and boxes are so tiny that I am unable to use the planner for daily purposes. Also, the planner does not come with enough pages for a full calendar year. I will probably attempt to buy a different calendar insert in hopes that I will be able to utilize this planner. Upon purchase of new inserts... I will have paid enough for a nicer planner. I would return but the return shipping fees are outrageous.Pros: Looks nice on the outside, surprise bonuses, zipperCons: Cant lay flat (ever), print too small, not enough pages for a full year

This is a very nice organizer for the price. It's not the fanciest or most rugged, but it definitely gets the job done. There is plenty of room for a planner, contact sheets, and a small notepad with a little room to spare. I also keep a space pen in here without any issues. It was a bit smaller than I was expecting, but still works just fine. The inserts are 3.75 x 6.75. The overall dimensions are 5.5 x 8.75 x 1.5. The feel is a bit cheap, but still looks nice and functions very well.As others have reviewed, this does not sit flat when fully open. I have not found this to be an issue, but I'm sure it could irritate some. You can still set it open on a table without fear of it closing on you, but you have to force it to sit flat. This does not interfere with writing in or normal use of this organizer for me.Pros: inexpensive, nice look, fits pen nicely, plenty of roomCons: does not sit flat, feels cheap

Likes: small sized. Lightweight. Easy to write on. Has basic features. Zipper closes easy. Well built and nice pen holder feature. Note pad in the back instead of the binder, excellent feature for us lefties.Dislikes: the writing area is kind of small. Hard to get all the info down where you can see it well. Does not fold flat.My personal opinion, its a pretty good purchase. I can always buy inserts with bigger space once this yr finishes. Nothing fancy about it, but doesn't look cheap either.

I will be using this as a writers notebook, so with that said it is nice for that but also a really nice planner.It does not lay flat but that will happen as it is used more. The binder is easy to open but there is already separation on the top 3. Not a huge issue right now but might be in the future.The credit card and zipper pouch are nice. The credit card holder ia only a 3 sleeve one, it would have been nice if it was a 6 sleeve one or even had a one sleeve on the back. Other than that it is nice.The pen loop is the faux leather type not stretchy so bigger pens are difficult to get thru. Not a big deal but still worth mentioning.
