By 2009, the Allman Brothers Band had morphed into a line-up that consisted of Gregg, Jaimoe and Butch, guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, bassist Oteil Burbridge and Marc Quinones on percussion. In tune with each other musically, philosophically and personally, these players were hitting on all cylinders as they prepared to mark the band s 40th anniversary with a no-holds-barred celebration during the group s annual stand at the historic Beacon Theatre in New York City. This rustic venue had become a favored spot for the ABB to play in Manhattan, in the tradition of the Fillmore East. This 15-show run was dedicated to the memory of Duane Allman, and accordingly, some very special guests came out to pay homage to the man known as 'Skydog'. Sixty-two artists, including Eric Clapton, Levon Helm, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, and Buddy Guy were there, with someone of note sitting in during every show, except on one night. March 26, 2009, marked the exact 40th anniversary of the first time Duane, Gregg, Jaimoe, Butch, Berry and Dickey played together, and so this performance belonged to the Allman Brothers Band, and no one else. The current band decided to honor the original six by playing the group s first two albums: The Allman Brothers Band and Idlewild South, back to back, track by track. Like a tiger unleashed from a cage, the band pounced from the opening moment of 'Don t Want You No More/Not My Cross to Bear', and the power and fury only went up from there. Seven men were playing as one, each feeding off the energy from the others, communicating in a non-verbal, mutually understood musical conversation. 40: A very special number, and this DVD proves why the Allman Brothers Band is a special group indeed. Savor every note of every song, because chances are a band the likes of this one will not come our way again. *NOTE: Due to an error in packaging artwork this DVD is listed as *DTS Digital Surround* compatible, which is incorrect. Leave My Blues at Home Encore: Statesboro Blues Review: Some of the best music ever recorded. - I took the plunge in 2009 and ordered the Beacon Box set. After the long wait it arrived to its new home. I was blown away by this music. They had so many fantastic artist play with them. I played it and played it, never get tired of it. Now we have the DVD release, its great. If you are a ABB fan this is a no brainer. The band is really tight, great sound quality. Maybe in the future they will release the entire thing, that would be a monster release for sure. This delivers, must have for any fan. Review: Waste of time - I don’t do reviews what OK

1st Set/1st Album-2nd Set/2nd Album
This was an incredible show, captured with a good sound mix and good quality video. Stereo sound is great. Cannot say about 5.1, as I don't have the system. If you are a fan of the first two albums, this is the best! The intensity that I have heard from several of the 40th anniversary shows was very high, throughout the entire Beacon run. If you don't have CD's of the shows that Clapton was a guest, buy them from the Allman Brothers web site!

I couldn't be more pleased with this
There's enough about the description of this to make you skeptical: when you read they're playing the first two albums, you might fear that it's merely a faithful recreation of what you heard 40 years ago. But that's not the case. On the prior Beacon DVD the band seemed to hew to the original solos too much, but that's not the case here. The years have made a difference in terms of the comfort with the material and the chemistry in the band. It's looser, less formal, and the performances here are clearly a product of THIS band, not the one from 1971. That means that the solos are different, the interludes are different, and it's a new experience. Revival not only builds in the snippets of "Joy To The World" you remember from Fillmore East, but it's a major springboard for variations. And Elizabeth Reed is stunning; a really great bass solo (with Derek Trucks looking on appreciatively as it happens) followed by the bass player sitting behind Butch's drum kit while Butch mans the tympani, and we get to see an interlude of four drummers going at once. I won't hesitate to review with two or three stars on Amazon. This one gets five: It's really splendid. Don't hesitate for a moment.

Not just one for the fans- its one for anyone who loves live music from those who've passed the test of time. GET IT!!
Stunning, amazing and in reality 'just another' stellar show by the band. Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes guitar work varies from blistering to sonic molasses and Gregg's voice shares the ache of a 1000 hopes lost, love won and run, and the blues run deep in every way. This show was to commemorate 40 years since Duane's passing and its a wonderful testament to the taken-too-soon slide master. If you have even a passing interest in the Allman Brothers make sure you get this show- the joy in it is palpable.

another great show from the band from Macon.Georgia
the Allman Brothers 40th anniversary show at the Beacon Theatre in New York City was obviously an excellent concert. Although I did not attend the concert personally, the dvd of the show was a very suitable substitute.Sound (the music) and the video were both top notch, and fans of the band and their southern rock style of music should be very happy with the purchase of this item .

40th Anniversary joy.
In 2009 the Allmans Beacon run was a tribute to Duane Allman and all of the shows had guest appearances from artists associated with Duane. However on the 26th of March, the band sans guests played their first two albums in their entirety and this dvd is the result. Some people have complained about the picture quality and compressed audio, but to me the picture is crystal clear and I found the sound on 5.1 to be perfect with excellent guitar separation(On 2.0 stereo the sound is compressed and low so swich to 5.1 through the menu on your dvd). Performance wise this is a band at its improvisational peak and the versions here are far removed from those on Fillmore East. The instrumental skill is astonishing and Gregg is singing and playing as well as ever. One note of caution-this is a REGION 1 DVD so make sure you have an appropriate multi-region player.

Attention ! MASTERPIECE ! but be careful DVD is available for Zone 1 readers only.

O único porém é a dinâmica um tanto auto indulgente do show.
