Amazon Brand - Solimo Ristretto Capsules, Dark Roast, Compatible with Original Brewers, Pack of 1x50 Capsule (50 count)

This is my first experience with Solimo Ristretto espresso pods and I am happy with the taste and crema. The coffee is relatively bold and not bitter. The capsules are unique in that they are shaped like original pods, but have a tin foil top and bottom instead of being fully aluminum. These pods seem plastic, but they work surprisingly well. In my tests, there were a few finely ground coffee grounds that were pushed through, but they were not present in every cup and these provide good quality to value. Expiration date was one year away. I initially ordered one hundred and then a few days later ordered another hundred as these are great for a double espresso. No over-caffeinated jitters, nice rich dark color and no strange scent or after-taste. It's not the *best* coffee, but it's quick, convenient and good tasting with a nice crema layer (this could vary by machine - mine is authentic). I'd like to rate these 4.5 stars and rounded up to 5 stars. Hope this helps! :-)

I am a strong coffee drinker, I have an espresso coffee machine that I grind my own beans, Lavazza Italian roast whole bean…a tiny espresso every morning! I also have a Nespresso mini Essenza unit for the occasion when I want a quick coffee. The Nespresso brand pods are pricey, and I actually get tired of the flavors; when I was given a whole Nespresso variety box I did not finish the entire box content. Nespresso pods are good, but in my opinion they have a proprietary flavor, like they are enhanced. I also have tried several other less expensive pod alternatives, but although cheaper they also lack the quality and taste to replace the Nespresso pods. This Amazon Solimo Risttreto brand does not taste like Nespresso pod but at the price point, good enough quality to replace Nespresso. And good enough to drink as a faster brew, when I don’t have time to make my fresh ground Italian espresso. I am pleased with Solimo Ristretto’s quality and price & will try Solimo Espresso pods next time; Solimo Lungo likely will be too weak for me.

1. The Nespresso pods are made out of plastic. They are not aluminum. 2. The coffee tastes good and has strong flavor. 3. These Nespresso pods only work well as single shots, if you increase the water they get diluted fast. 4. Also they seem to work OK with my Nespresso machine, and coffee exits instantly once the button is pressed. 5. Use only as a single shot treat. 6- I see the price is creeping up. I bought these at $10 for 50. For that price they are worth it. At round $20 they aren't.

Wow! This espresso for "original Nespresso" makers and other compatible makers pleasantly surprised me. It came out smooth and creamy with a nice full-bodied taste. I am always skeptical about trying something new regarding espresso or regular coffee. My pallet is changing and I want something more than coffee and just a bit less than espresso I don't like finding I purchased something bitter and this was perfect. I only wish it would come with a recycle bag to send back to the maker the pods. They are of good quality plastic which does make me nervous to place in trash, so at the moment I am collecting them in a container and holding them. Finally, the price was excellent for 50 pods in the package!

As a fan of Nespresso for 15 years now, I've tried many of the capsules out there ...from the European grocery stores that stock capsules for $0.20/capsule or the "full fare" Nespresso clocking in above $0.75/pod. I'm writing this review after working my way through this box of capsules. For ease of use, it matters to have an aluminum capsule (I say this having used the pods in 3 different Nespresso machines). The Amazon option features hard plastic pods that require more force to "seat" in the coffee feed system. This concerns me because of potential mechanical failure of my machines and the fact that hot water running through plastic is not my idea of enjoyably adding BPAs to my morning "doppio". These capsules are plastic, so that alone should be a reason to avoid. As importantly (and to many, arguably more), the flavor and "crema" was very subpar. Any European grocery pod has better flavor and the kids in a. 3rd world country's sweatshop that Amazon is hiring to put coffee in pods haven't gotten the formula right (that was a joke: I have no info as to whether Dr. Evil in fact hires 5 year olds to put the coffee in the pods). The flavor was flat. If paying the lowest price possible is your goal to get your caffeine hit, then that is your only reason for buying these pods. Bad value for money proposition because the quality end simply does not exist.

not good for full flavor seekers. slightly bitter, good price

I have ordered these Ristretto expresso pods 3 time so far to use in my L'OR BARISTA coffee machine, so obviously I like them. And yes, they work perfectly in the L'OR BARISTA coffee machine. I will say that I like them better than what you get at Starbucks, but then I have just never been a big fan of Starbucks coffee. I love them for everyday use, I would not server them to guests at a dinner party, or special occasions, that's what the $1 each and up ones are for. But, for 20 cents a pop, they are great for my everyday use, and saves me a ton of money! Save the "good stuff" for special occasions and such.

Our poor Nespresso was locked in the back of the counter being ignored in favor of me getting out of the door and making coffee at work. It had been a while since it was used, so I cleaned it up, pulled out my old pods and they definitely tasted...old. I tried to order new pods but the price and variety packs, I didn't know what I wanted. Then I saw the Solimo brand. I've been happily impressed with other Solimo products and when I saw I could get 50 costumes capsules for less than 20 of some other brands delivered overnight I decided to give it a go. My package arrived this morning with the 3 varieties I purchased and I was eager to grab them off my doorstep. At first I couldn't decide what I wanted, but decided I wanted something quick and strong so I pulled out my tiny espresso cups and a little bit of sugar in the raw and made my coffee. I was prepared for a strong and bitter/burnt flavor of come to associate with espresso, however this was smooth and will definitely be a danger to my caffeine intake. These will be heading on to my subscribe and same orders ASAP.
