I have swollen fingers and a positive ANA. I have graves disease which was treated in the nineties by killing my thyroid with two radiative treatments. Thus I will always test positive ANA. Swelling in my finger joints began ten years ago. Five years with new rheumatologist and hundreds of immune tests yielded nothing. Seems they forget I had Graves disease thus will always test ANA positive. finally saw a hand surgeon who looked at the MRI's., Xrays and tests over the years.. looked me square in the eyes and said.. you have osteo arthritis. Its genetic and there is no cure for it. I can replace your knuckle joints. I have had some sucess with that option with professional football players. But this is it my friend. Oh I can inject steroids in the most painful joints and that will help. Which he did. Which I have done twice now. When the pain gets really bad I will bulk up on prednisone and do a 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 day routine. That will knock it back for a bit and make the swelling manageable. I will never make a fist again, the surgeon suggested I learn to elbow box. I bought a book. Self defense is important to me. These gloves look crazy, but when I come home and nuke these babies and kick back in my recliner... The pain fades away from my work day. Plus it smells like someone is cooking rice.

I purchased these mittens for my Mother who has rheumatoid arthritis. The mittens are very helpful. She does not wear them to bed because they get to hot. But they help during the day with her discomfort. She is able to use her hands with more dexterity after she removes them. She is 91 years old.
