OM Digital Solutions ME-12 Noise Canceling Microphone

This little microphone works well for me. I've owned it since August and now it's November 3. I use it with my Olympus WS-100 to take notes which I then save to my computer and import it into Dragon Naturally Speaking version 9 Preferred which then produces a Microsoft Word document. I speak into the microphone from about 2 inches away and am really careful with my diction and pronunciation because there is just a little bit of distortion if you over drive it. But with a little work in practice it does what it's supposed to do. Oh, one side note if you do import this into Dragon be aware you will have to make corrections. Sometimes a lot of them but that's based on how you speak. Or maybe that's based on how I speak that's been my experience anyway. But that's not the fault of the microphone.

When I ordered this microphone it had pictures of all the accessories I "thought" came with it such as other covers and an extension cord so you can clip the mic onto other things. But when it showed up all it had was the mic with the one cover that's in the picture. When I went back to the product page on Amazon the pictures were changed to just the image of the mic that I got. I'm not sure if it was a mistake to begin with or someone trying to get more sales.

at least not all smart phones. i use a Samsung Note 4 and its a no go. from what I've learned unless the headphone plug has 3 rings like what you see on your typical headphones with a mic, it's not compatible. I am not certain. but I am very sure that this won't work with the phone i have.as far as the mic itself goes, it will work great in a recorder and is a solid buy.

The foam cover was dry rotted and fell apart as soon as I touched it

I was disappointed to see that my new laptop did not have a microphone in it. So I looked around and found this one. It fits nicely into the jack and works well with Skype without being in the way.I had a buddy do a quality comparison of this microphone and my bluetooth headset and he indicated that the ME-12 was heads and shoulders above the headset. The distance from my mouth to the unit (arms length) is not an issue.It's a great unit at a great price that performs very well.

Better for interviews than the built-in mic on Olympus voice recorders. I have the WS-320M recorder. The ME-12 mic is not as sensitive as the built-in, though. The ME-12 is at its best when dictating, and not as good when recording a lecture from far away.Works great with an extension cable, and is especially good for recording live interviews. You can move the mic where you want it depending on who's speaking.

This mic doesn't work with iPods. It's a mono mic and iPods are stereo. If you connect it to an iPod (iPhone, itouch or iPad) you get a message saying you need to attach a microphone. Since this mic is supposedly for iPods I'm baffled why the manufacturer made it mono instead of stereo since all iPods are stereo. Even $1 mini mics sold on amazon are stereo and they work fine. I'd advise people who need a mic for their electronic device to buy the small $1 mic since it works. This mic does not.OLYMPUS SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO WRITE A PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND NOT INCLUDE IF THE MIC IS MONO OR STEREO. SINCE ALMOST ALL ELECTRONIC STUFF HAS STEREO CONNECTORS I ASSUMED THE MIC WAS STEREO. OLYMPUS OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO WRITE A COMPETENT PRODUCT REVIEW.When I bought this I thought it was stereo but it's only mono, so the plug only has two conductors, one for ONE audio track and the other for ground. I was disappointed because it wouldn't work in any of my iPods/iPhones. I can't believe the manufacturer would make a mono plug that's useless for almost all current electronic equipment.Btw, when I tried to use it the foam 'windsock' covering the mic kept falling off. That's poor craftsmanship.I'm out almost $13 for a mini-mic I could buy for $2 elsewhere. I thought by buying an Olympus mic I'd get better quality but I ended up with a worthless piece of junk that can only be used on very old audio equipment.My suggestion: Don't buy it!Lastly, check your Picket Talker Pro and find out if its mono or stereo. It's doubtful it's mono though. Almost all mini plugs are stereo to make them compatible with all the stereo iPods, iPhones, iPads, etc...

These work wonders for us. They remove that "handling" sound on your digital recorder and picks up wounds very well. I bought 5 to start , but I will buy 10 more to use with the other 10 recorders

this product came on time it fits like it said it would a really good addition works really well packaging was brilliant came on time would recommend it to anyone I was looking fir a more positive product doesn't collect much background noise and is very crystal clear it comes on time and it's exactly what the seller says it is thank you so much I would recommend this product

It certainly cancels out noise, so much so I had difficulty hearing the actual stuff I had recorded. I used it in a meeting room which was fairly echoey and the whole noise level was reduced considerably. I'm not sure whether I will continue using it.

This is a great bit of kit worth every penny. It cuts out unwanted noise from wind etc. Better coverage when more then one person is speaking and you do not have to point the recorder aim the mic at people all you need do is place it between you all and it does it for you.

Working well with my Olympus Dictation Playback Recorder.A fine Micro for the person on the move to make reminders for those important meetings and Anniversary that us fellas never forget plus Birthdays.

When I used it for recording (Olympus WS-811) and then listened to the recording while the noise cancellation was still good the recording came out only from one of the speakers.
