Still breaking them in, but good so far
I've yet to wear them backpacking, but have been wearing them regularly on 2 mile walks around the neighborhood. They are comfortable and very supportive around the ankles, as backpacking boots need to be. I wouldn't say they are particularly light, but that may be because I'm used to regular hiking boots. Although I seem to be comfortable in size 11, I have learned the hard way that the rigors of hiking with a lot of weight on my back causes my toes to bang up against the tips. For this pair I had the sense to get 11.5 and they fit perfectly. As long as these hold up just as well for their intended use, I'll leave it as a 5 star.

Great little boot to replace heavy hunting boots
I've been looking for a great all around hunting boot to wear in place of my heavy duty extreme weather hunting boots and these boots fit the bill! Very comfortable, but seem like they will hold up for a few seasons at least. Compared to many lightweight boots, this boot is actually able to go off trail because it has enough protection to the top of the foot that you don't have to worry about getting cut up from fallen trees and rocks. Most lightweight boots are for weekend warriors that follow a well established trail that, for me, doesn't require anything more than a regular pair of shoes. If you are a hunter, or someone who blazes their own trail, this is a great alternative to your heavy, extreme conditions boot. Note: I can't complain, but I did get a cactus through the side wall that I had to take the boot off in order to remove. So, some conditions may be too much, but I highly recommend them still as I can't fault the boots for pushing them a little too far.

Not fully waterproof
These boots are stated to be waterproof as it is a boot you would expect it to be waterproof all the way up the boot but the Membrane stops at the ankle. That does not make sense at all Especially from Merrell.

Questionable quality for this price point and brand
The shoes look great but didn’t hold up to 3 light hikes in the Texas hill country. I would expect a boot at this price to be of better quality. The front rubber sole started ripping and coming apart from the shoe and all of this during a hike.

Super traction. Feather weight.
Comfort of a trail boot with weight of a shoe.Great boot that rivals an athletic sports cleat. If a Merrell usually fits well, this will become a favorite for the trails.

Incredibly Comfortable and Capable Boots!!
I tried breaking in many different boots before finally getting my hands on these, and boy am I glad I waited! I often have trouble finding comfortable shoes and boots, but these did the trick. I was able to hike up two 14,000 foot mountains back to back in Colorado in heavy snow with these boots and not once did my feet ever hurt or did I feel that I couldn’t tackle the terrain. Highly recommended!

Great, light weight, and cool-looking boot!
These boots exceeded my expectations, they are comfortable and light for a boot. I put them to the test on my first hike with minimal break-in, trekking 13 miles in the Grand Canyon I had little to no discomfort (any discomfort could've been addressed in a proper break-in). I was also able to test the waterproof material in a couple inches of water, and they passed the test once again. These boots provide great grip and I had no worries about slipping when climbing out of the canyon. This was my first pair of hiking boots and first time trying Merrell shoes. Overall they are a "cool-looking" boot compared to many other hiking boots I saw and I am happy I went with the Merrell ALTALIGHTs.

Just what I wanted
I really like these boots. Wore in the woods and mud clearing dirt bike trails and exploring. Nice traction and support. The ankles are pretty stiff, so mild discomfort there until theyre broke in. Overall, good looking adventure shoes! (Bought mens 8.5- Im usually a womens 10)

No durables

Slight break in but overall very comfortable.
A good to great light hiker boot. Have about 100km on them so far. Some initial slight discomfort or material pressure on my right foot metatarsal. However, this seems to be less a problem. Most important, no blisters and the comfort overall is very good. Confident in considering these again.
