Great for nanos, just watch water levels
I have an 8 gallon nano tank and the attachment is great for providing more flow into all the corners into the tank (since I have live rock piled in). It probably reduces overall flow a tiny bit, but it's worth more flow reaching around the rocks because of the waves. The waves do create water movement, so if the top isn't completely sealed, watch out for how high the waves get on each side to adjust the overall water levels... otherwise, there's lots of salt creep to clean up... for mine, it's the feeding hole and the clips for the tops where the water likes to splash/spill.My only big problem: it didn't really come with good directions and I didn't know how to attach it onto the powerhead... the attachment comes with multiple sizes of attachers, but I've never had to fiddle with the powerhead before and trying to figure it all out underwater is too much. So yes, I really do need the idiot proof directions with pictures and couldn't even find any online because apparently it's just that obvious to everyone else. The funny part: algae grows on the attachment... so my snails like to jump on and ride the spinning part to eat... lol...

The Hydro Flo goes round and round
The media could not be loaded. It spins.... and spins......... and spinsYes, this will break after about a year. But, it is relatively cheap and it doesn't have much competition.I have had 4 or 5 of these over 6 to 8 years. Some have had the outside encrusted with coralline algae and some have remained relatively clean. The ones encrusted with coralline algae lasted around 2 years. The relatively clean ones have lasted about a year. The coralline encrusted ones were soaked in white vinegar more often than the relatively clean ones. Coincidence?Pros:+ Adds movement to the water+ Corals will appear livelier due to the movement of polyps+ InexpensiveCons:! Breaks after a while. About a year in my experience.! Adds vibration and can cause the tanks to hum, slightly= Has to be cleaned from time to time. This is not really a con, but standard maintenance. Disassemble, soak in white vinegar, clean, and rinse. The Short Story:It spins. It adds movement to water. It breaks after a while.

Easy to fix if not working
I was very skeptical about buying after seeing so many people say the FLO broke shortly after purchase. I had mine for one week and it too stopped. I like to work on things rather than throw away and figured it would be easy to take apart. There is a white snap connector on the front of the FLO and you simply push it together and the entire device comes apart. In my case a small saltwater snail lodged inside the gear that rotates the FLO and I simply rinsed off the part and put it back together and it works fine. If you have any issues take this apart and there are really 5-6 parts that make the entire unit up so it is easy to clean or fix. Now knowing how easy this is to fix I wish I had it long ago. It does a great job of mixing the water flow from the nano tank pump in my Biocube. It is a very good buy in my opinion and necessary for any nano tank.

Good product, but it does wear out with time.
As noted in other reviews, the plastic gear teeth on the pinion will wear out with time - mine just wore out after 8 months of continous use on my Oceanic BioCube 29, using the original oceanic pump (rated at 243 gallons per hour, if I remember correctly). It has jammed several times from various debris getting stuck between the internal teeth, and once from a snail that got jammed between the rotating deflector and a rock. Every 3 or 4 weeks I disassemble it and clean it by soaking it in vinegar to get the coraline off of it and get any junk out of the teeth. It does a great job of providing changing flow in a pretty low-cost way, great for growing healthy corals in a small tank. Would I buy another? I'd be happier if it did not wear out, but yes, for $13 (and free shipping under my amazon prime membership), I will buy another to replace it.

Keeps flow moving
Works great in my 20 long. As others mention it may stop turning. I just wash it out when it stops and it works again. Keeps flow moving in different places to take car of some "dead" spots. Attached perfectly to a hydor pico. It hasnt detached so far and has been running for months.

It was cheap and easy to install
I bought this because my local pet store had this in one of their aquariums. I was very impressed by the amount of micro bubbles it was producing when it was attached to a head pump that had a venturi air valve on it. I had a head pump with a venturi air valve already set up in my pond, and have been looking for awhile now for something to help me increase the amount of oxygen I have in my pond. I then went searching for this and could not find it in any of the stores that were in town, so I searched on amazon and here it was. It was cheap and easy to install. It comes with five different attachment sizes for it to fit most head pumps. I have had it in my 600 gallon pond for a few days now and have been very impressed with the amount of micro bubbles this little thing can push out. If you are not wanting the micro bubbles in your aquarium then don't have a venturi air valve set up, and it will just push your water around.

Worked well at first....
They worked well for the first 4-5 months, and moved the water around my 28 gallon jbj well, however the last two weeks they no longer stay on my outlets. It's as if the diameter has increased so minutely that within 30 seconds of putting them back on they fall off. At first I assumed there was a bit of an algae buildup and it had gotten slick. I took them both out and did a thorough wash of them and tried again hoping I could fix the problem. I also tried a few other things, but nothing works. I also checked my water flow to make sure I wasn't overpowering them, but I can't imagine them even working with a lower flow rate then what I have. I'm hesitant to order them again, but the fact that they worked pretty well I think I can handle $13 bucks.

Neat little tool to vary the flow in bio cube ...
Neat little tool to vary the flow in bio cube. The only downfall is to do some monthly cleaning to avoid mechanism to get stuck.

Was very difficult to fit on my biocube 32 nozzle. Had to shave it down to fit
