Not bad for an DIY desk
Overall this piece of furniture appears to be a good desk. The desk is heavier than it looks, which I like. There are some additional trim pieces that make it look “fancy”, which a lot of DIY furniture doesn’t have.Three or four pieces were missing part ID stickers. Not a huge issue, but mildly annoying to have to sort through these heavy parts to identify which one for which step.I didn’t like the cam lock pin design for this. Normally with the self-assembled furniture I’ve put together in the past, the cam lock pin screws into the wood. This desk uses an expansion bolt design instead. This makes it harder to assemble the desk, and I don’t have a good feeling using expansion bolts with particle board.I did like the design of the drawers. It’s hard to explain, but they provided an additional rotating piece of hardware on the drawers guides that easily allow you to adjust the drawer fronts and get them lined up right. I really like that design and have never seen that before. The manufacturers website is big on talking about how much of an “American” company they are. They are based in America, which I like. Regardless, some of the components are still made in China, in case that affects anyone decision to purchase this item.Edit: One design feature that must be considered before you purchase is the small ledge that is installed underneath the desk on the back wall. That piece can be a real shin-buster if you have longer legs or like to stretch out. I’ve busted my shin against that a couple of times already. I’ve ordered a hollow pool noodle to cut up and fit on the edge.

great look & quality for a DIY desk
**Detailed instruction book with 19 steps plus how-to video access as well. Some parts are not labeled but EZ enough to figure out**Professional assembly through Amazon states it takes 1 person an estimated 3 hours to assemble this desk and it took me 4 hours, with my bad back, neck and weak hands to boot.**Not seen in the photo - the "modesty panel" where the low shelf runs along under the desk actually has a half-moon shaped cut out at the top that allows for cords and cables to come through. Instructions state this shelf can hold up to 10 pounds, and I think it is meant to hold a CPU - given they do advertise and label this as a computer desk. The width of the shelf is just right to hold a standard CPU.**The pull out thin drawer is labeled a keyboard drawer - some have commented that it won't work as this. Installed correctly it pulls out 10" and has a round hole in the back for the cable to come through. The piece with knob drops down and it is indeed OK for a keyboard.**As to comments about drawers not in alignment or closing badly, the last assembly step is a procedure for adjusting the cams to fix that issue. I think the instructions are so thorough and the pieces so solid that with correct (patient) assembly the drawers should be fine.**As to complaints about it being too short/low, or small - this desktop is 29" high; my old desk is 30" and I use standard office chairs. Most desks are 29- 30" so it isn't really so small as some state - this IS NOT an executive desk!**Right side vertical edge is a patented piece that is supposed to slide on. Mine required banging it in place very hard - put a folded towel or washcloth over the wood to protect it if you need to do the same.**Mostly assembled with it laying on its back - toward the end you turn (roll) it over onto the front to work on the back which takes room. Best to assemble on carpet (or large sturdy table) to save the finish as well as wear on the knees due to lengthy assembly process.**The off white colored finish goes with my other "white oak" manufactured pieces very well. It has vague light gold patches that are supposed to represent an "antiqued" finish. The back looks OK if it shows.

Sturdy, cute piece of furniture!
I just put this desk together last night. I put it together with a little help from my husband, but mostly he was doing something else. I (a currently pregnant woman) was definitely able to manage this, however there were a few things that were annoyingly tricky. For example, some pieces weren't labeled and I felt a little like I had purchased a very heavy Ikea something, because I had to match the pictures. Also the runners for the drawers were impossible to figure out without referencing the pictures multiple times, which got pretty frustrating by 10 pm. Would it have been so hard to give them simple letter labels like the large pieces, with stickers on the pieces so I didn't have to say "well, this says left, but it doesn't fit... maybe one of the other three "left cabinet runners""?? I knocked it down a star for annoying assembly because of this.As for the desk itself, it is a nice, sturdy piece of furniture. The finish is "antiqued" but you can tell that it's not actually antiqued, which is fine by me but might bother some. The drawers roll nicely, but the bottoms are some sort of cardboard-like material which I suspect will not hold up the test of time with heavy use (in other words, really heed that weight limit!). Some people have said they find the desk too small, but I don't feel that way at all. I am 5'7 and not a small person. I was able to sit at the desk in a big desk chair just fine, and when I purchased a shorter chair (which I needed not because of the desk but because my feet didn't touch the floor all the way in it), I had no problem getting my meaty thighs underneath with room to cross them. If you are above 6'0 this desk might be a little short for you, but for people of average height it should really not be a problem unless you have the world's highest office chair.I'm happy with this purchase, and if you can get somebody else to put it together I'd say it's a 5 star investment at a great price.
