Foxfire, Wolfskin and other stories of shapeshifting women

This collection of European stories of shapeshifting women is a lot of fun to read. The author’s writing style is clear and whimsy. Each story is different and in some cases, even the writing style itself changes. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for some women-centric stories.

I did not expect these stories to be reworkings riffing off ancient myths, but they’re good, they’re literature. They all reflect a sensibility that stands steadfastly for the land, for animals, for the innocent, for non-violence, and frankly that sensibility is so rare it’s a comfort to read these stories. I very much enjoyed them.

Inspiring and uplifting. These stories are just what my soul needed at this time. I highly recommend for women that are paving their own path or even women that are feeling a little lost and need a boost. Beautiful collection.

Short stories from a different perspective. I liked it.

The first story had me weeping with healing and bravery....I kept on reading and every story hit home to me. Beautifully written.

Read the tales and see the lessons. Grow and thrive or whither and die. Wonder how the light of age affects a reader of these tales. A woman at midlife sees change and satisfaction in herself.

If you are going to pick between this & if women rose rooted, I suggest this book.

I love love this book. I love read a story at a time and escaping into a magical world.

If you love folktales, poetry and stunning writing, this book is for you. A truly original interpretation of several tales I already knew.The notes at the end are worth reading too.I’ve been reading this sort of material for over 60 years, and very rarely I find a book that lingers in the mind like this one.I bought it in kindle, like most of my fiction. But now I’m buying two copies of this collection, one to lend and one to hold on to.It’s fabulous.
