Update: I hate this even more now that it's installed. It doesn't slide smoothly at all. If you tighten the bolts down you can't slide it at all! Also, the retention piece is so weak that you can just slide it right out of the two posts when unlocking.----------------------------------------------Pro tip! If you are installing go ahead and drill those pilot holes for the screws. They are SUPER weak and will shear in half if you try to screw them into anything solid. The latch overall is hollow and flimsy. If you can get it on something it may be ok. I will try to install again because it does come with a faceplate for where the hole goes, which is why I need it. I may abandon and go with a bolt-action type, we'll see.

I had high hopes for this lock. I installed it on a pair of doors to keep a small toddler from opening them. These are so light and cheap that they bend easily. It couldn't even stop a 2 year old. Don't waste your money.

I purchased this item to keep the little ones out of our pantry. But, like other reviewers, we had issues with the screws breaking and the bolt not sliding properly. The bolt seemed to be catching on something every time we moved it, so my husband finally examined the mounting brackets and found a small notched plate on the underside of one of them. He took that piece out and now it works great. Guess the next step is to repaint the bolt white.

If your expecting titanium, go elsewhere. It is priced right for what it is. It will rust, it is lightweight, but it meets all other specs for my need.

Just junk. It's very flimsy and there is no protection between the bolt and the bracket so the white paint gets scraped off immediately. I didn't even bother installing this. My old one was much sturdier.
