Very happy with this
Not unlike a few people I know, I have a set of kitchen knives that cost a little bit more money than most people would spend on a set of kitchen knives. My personal choice is the henkel's professional S series. Excellent knives, but as with any kitchen knife, they do occasionally need to be sharpened. I've never typically done this myself... I always either stop by a knife shop somewhere or sometimes kitchen supply places will sharpen your knives, or the last time I had it done I found a guy online and I mailed a couple of them out to him and he sent them right back and they were really sharp again just like brand new. But that does cost money every time so honestly I watched a couple of videos on YouTube about how to sharpen knives. Those of you that are reading this that know how to sharpen knives maybe thinking well it's not that hard, and you're right it isn't but if you've never done it before you don't know. So for anybody that's reading this has never done it before, seriously it's not that hard. So to that end, I bought these sharpening stones. They came with really good instructions plus the YouTube video that I watched, I grabbed my favorite chef's knife and honestly I figured if I screwed it up I could still send it out and get it fixed but about 6 minutes later I had my knife as sharp as it was the day I bought it. Kind of like a brand new razor blade with a big handle on it. With this new confidence I sharpened the rest of my set. I haven't tried it yet on the scissors however when they need sharpening I'm sure this will do the trick. For the money I could have paid to have my entire set sharpened professionally, I bought this and had money left over. 100% well worth the bridge just like and like I said if you're not really sure how to sharpen a knife, if you haven't done it before, don't be scared of the process. I had never done it myself and with the right tools, you're all set.

Easy to use and sharpens fast
I bought the KEENBEST Actual Grit Premium Material Whetstone Set 2 Side Grit 400 1000 3000 8000 on a whim, to see how it would compare with my old trusty pull through sharpener. After a little bit of practice on an old knife that was almost impossible to sharpen on my pull through. I was really surprised that that old knife was now passing the paper test. After that practice round I am now sharpening with ease. Great product.

Very versatile grit combo but maybe not for razor edge?
I bought these out of my never-ending search to find a stone or sharpener that will actually give a hair-shave edge to these stainless pocket knives they make acres of from all these knife makers like Smoky Mountain, etc, but I haven't been able to get these stones, or any other sharpener to give them that razor edge they have out of the factory. I have followed all instructions, used water on them and so on. I think maybe the length of time and patience (20-30 minutes?) I've read that it takes to get that sort of edge back is just not worth the effort for how fast they lose it. But for a good sharp regular-task sort of edge these are good stones, definitely. They will (should) satisfy any knife geek's jones for sharpening and and put a finer edge for sure than your average tungsten "scraper" as I call them.

Great Value and Quality - Sharpened 7 different knives
In a Nutshell - We had a collection of dull knives - First time using a whetstone - All items in this kit were useful to sharpen my knives - Get a honing rod to finish it - The angle aid will scratch your knives. What you need to know - It took 3 tries to learn how to use the whetstone. First 2, my test knife was worse than when I first started. If itโs not getting sharper, it may be you. - The angle aid is useful, but itโs a fixed angle and some knives require sharpening at a different angle . Also, it will scratch your knives - I watched like 4 different YouTube videos on sharpening using a whetstone. Best one was from some Cooks Edge. Iโm not promoting, but I feel he was the only the explained all the whole โgetting the burrโ thing the best. - I was able to sharpen with great success 7/8 different knives with the stones. I used the 8000 grit only on my Japanese shun knife. I didnโt go higher than 3000 on the rest. - The 1 knife (1st from left) that I cannot consider a success is sharper, but it was so hard to get the burr and even after I did it, it definitely doesnโt compare to the rest. I think itโs the knife, not me lol. - Last, if itโs your first time, like me, it will take you about 45-60 minutes to sharpen one, call it not being sure if I have a burr, but after that I was able to do my other knives in 20 min.

Great set, I don't use all of the blocks, but that's okay.
This worked very well for all of our straight-blade knives. I have all types of knives. It came with instructions which I appreciate, but I only use the angle guide on some of the knives I have, not all knives. Though it's easy to clean, I put mine in a high cabinet after not fully drying the blocks, and some mold started growing on the block. I'll peg this on my not drying the blocks fully and placing them on a high, warm cabinet in an enclosed space. After drying them fully again, they have not developed any mold. My knives are all sharp and cut very easily now. Thanks!

Useful tool for sharpening
My wife said it was good for sharpening. Pretty heavy and can be used at least many years. It is always easier and cheaper to have this than having a new knife.

Great product for sharpening Japanese knives
The durability and quality of these whet stones are just what I was looking for to sharpen my Japanese knives. The slip resistant base made sharpening my knives a very simple process. The instructions were very helpful and the softness of the grade of stone made my knives incredibly sharp.

It's not Swiss quality, but it does work.
Essentially this is the Ali baba drop shipped to heck and back sharpening stone. However, this vendor, Keenbest is honest, the price is UBER reasonable as the most affordable option offering the most variety and items. Make sure to follow the instructions, SOAK the stones, And keep them wet while using, If you're scraping off a lot of stone material, your angle is wrong. You should be depositing metal, not scraping stone. If your blade is RAW and Unfinished when you get it start at 400 until you see the shine of a new edge. 1000 grit is your Main work Piece. Sharpen with 1000 until that edge is obviously razor sharp by touch or however you discern its to your satisfaction. you can go straight to hone or strop from 1000, but if you're like me and very Anal and a perfectionist you can go futher up the grit ladder to get a polished, scalpel or straight razor type edge. Make SURE your angle is PERFECT. Strop after and you'll have a Cutting Champion. . don't expect these stones to last forever. They do work, and I haven't encountered excess erosion as many have complained. But i know this isn't going to last like very high dollar big name Diamond stone or ceramics kit.

Pretty good for the price
Great product for a beginner. Not too expensive like the expert stones. Not bad for the price. Great to practice your sharpening skills
