Good bare bones edition.
This is a review of this particular edition of the CEB. I made a comment on the translation itself in a review of the Study Edition ... some will like the translation, some will not. In any case, I can't tell you whether the translation itself is what you want.In addition to the bare text of the CEB, what you are getting in this edition are:* the Apocrypha. This includes Psalm 151 plus 3 and 4 Maccabees in addition to what you might call the "usual" (i.e. Protestant/KJV) Apocrypha.* the "translator's notes". By this I mean the very simple notes at the bottom of the page, NOT the extensive notes present in the Study Edition. The Genesis or Luke PDF downloads at the CEB site will show you these and the page layout.* the eight pages of maps. They're nicely done but nothing special IMHO.* the "Study and reading helps" in this edition are three pages before the Preface -- Abbreviations, Measures and Hebrew Calendar. Other than the above, that's it.The book itself is what I would call an "economy" binding, but it's well-done for what it is and good for this price point. The paper is decent and thin, with ghosting that you see in most bibles (except vintage or very high-end ones). Margins are not designed for note-taking, though again you can see this in the PDF downloads from the CEB site.Despite the description, this edition does NOT have a ribbon marker ... at least the four examples I've seen do not. There is also nothing that looks even vaguely like a "Topical Index" to me.On the plus side, the cover does not say "Thinline Bible" as in the marketing pic, but rather "Holy Bible" as one would expect. If you're looking for a fairly bare-bones edition of the CEB plus Apocrypha, this should do nicely, and is a good value for money. If you're looking for anything else, you may want to think it over.

Great Modern Translation
Recommended by a friend, I like this version of the Bible very much for an easy, meaningful read. I gave it only 4 stars because the paper is extremely thin and the pages hard to turn, not very resistant to damage. But it's still my current go-to Bible when studying.

Very nice size for carrying
Small size = very small print! Keep your reading glasses handy! Very nice size for carrying, however.
