Rich, Complex and Suspenseful
“Gabriel Bond really wanted to murder his best friend.”FINAL DECISION: How did I miss this series? I absolutely loved this book which has funny, sexy and likeable characters, complex issues, an intriguing mystery and is hot, hot, hot! I totally fell in love with the characters and flew through this book.THE STORY: Gabriel Bond, one of the six “Perfect Gentlemen” of Creighton Academy, is left adrift after the death of one of his best friends Maddox Crawford. Grieving and angry and a little lost, Gabriel seeks some forgetfulness with a woman he meets in a bar. Everly Parker isn’t a woman who engages in one night stands, but the handsome and sexy Gabriel is an opportunity that she doesn’t want to pass up. Things become complicated, however, when Everly and Gabriel meet again and find out that Gabriel is Everly’s new boss and Gabriel finds out that Everly is the woman he believes was Maddox’s mistress. Then Gabriel becomes a suspect in Maddox’s murder.OPINION: This book just sucked me in and wouldn’t let go. The Perfect Gentlemen are sexy, dominant men who have a funny and even somewhat sweet relationship. They call one another brothers and their relationship is the central pivot point in the overarching story. The men needle, tease, taunt, challenge one another and are devoted to one another. Without this foundation in the book, it would be impossible to understand or believe what these men are willing to do for one another. The unshakable relationship between these men also serves to show how important the relationship between Gabriel and Everly becomes as she dislodges the other Perfect Gentlemen as most important to Gabriel. Some readers might grumble about the fact that the overarching mystery that begins in this book with Maddox Crawford’s death is not resolved in this book. I like my series to be closely connected and prefer that there be overarching issues which thread through all the books in the series. This book is just about perfect in that regard. Some questions are answered in this book and some questions linger on and is picked up by the next book in the series. The romance itself is complete. Before I began reading romances, I was an avid mystery reader and I still really enjoy a good romantic suspense or romance/mystery book. My complaint is often that either there is too much suspense and little romance or the mystery is no real mystery but rather nothing more than an excuse to create drama for the hero and heroine. Not so here. The mystery seems organic and vital to the story and yet never overshadows the romance between Gabriel and Everly. I was satisfied with the answers I got in this book even as I wonder about the bigger questions left unanswered. Obviously, I don’t know what the ultimate answers are but the writers have earned my trust by creating a clever and intelligent beginning. While Gabriel is definitely a yummy hero. Unapologetically a highly sexed man, I loved how Gabriel doesn’t apologize for his sex life and doesn’t ask Everly to apologize for hers. Powerful and yet willing to listen to Everly (after some initial misunderstandings). He treats her as an equal to him intellectually and sexually. He’s funny and sexy and has some darkness in his past — what’s not to love?I adored Everly as well. She is smart and capable. And can she handle Gabriel! I especially like that Everly has a profession that is not usually given to women in books. She is head of information security and is a hacker. Her particular skills are especially useful in the mystery. Loved, loved that Everly is not a damsel in distress but an active participant in the story and in the mystery. This book just hit me in the right spot. In fact, the hardest decision for me was whether to read the next book right away or re-read my favorite parts of this book. My decision was to continue with the series and then re-read. The best of both worlds.WORTH MENTIONING: The books in this series all deal with one overarching mystery that begins with the death of Maddox Crawford in this book. The overarching mystery is not resolved here even though the immediate issues raised in the book are resolved.CONNECTED BOOKS: SCANDAL NEVER SLEEPS is the first book in The Perfect Gentlemen series.STAR RATING: I give this book 5 stars.NOTE: I received a free paperback copy of this book at the RT Booklovers Convention. There was no request or requirement that I write a review or that I say positive things about this book. All opinions contained herein are my own.

Scandal Never Sleeps is a terrific book.Lexi and Shayla wrote a smart book with smart but flawed characters.Scandal Never Sleeps introduces us the Perfect Gentleman: Gabe, Maddox, Zack, Connor, Roman and Dax.They formed an unbreakable bond in school and became brothers.Scandal Never Sleeps opens with the funeral of one of the members: playboy Maddox Crawford. The same Maddox who took Gabe under his wing, who always got his friends in trouble, and left Gabe's sister pregnant and deserted her.Or so it seems…The book is filled with twists and turns.Scandal Never Sleeps is action packed and fast paced. We see the PG mourn the death of their friend. We learn someone may have killed Maddox and that revelation makes Gabe let go of his anger and work towards finding the truth.I loved all members of the PG. They all had their weakness and strength's.The story was complex but written in a way that it was easy to follow the progression.I love Everly Parker! She is the leading lady I admire: strong, smart, sexy, resourceful, and confident. She met Gabe but didn’t know who he was to Maddox. They spent a weekend full of passion without knowing they are connected to Maddox: Gabe as his best friend and the beneficiary of his will, and Everly as the one and only woman he had a close relationship with (one that didn’t involve sex).Gabe was suspicious of Everly after he found out she worked closely with Maddox. That suspicion made him act like an idiot towards her.But his jealousy had to wait as he was named as the suspect in the killing of Maddox.I loved Everly 's strength in standing up to herself. She didn’t let lust cloud her judgment and didn’t forgive Gabe easily for hurting her.She acted in a level headed manner. She was surrounded by Alpha males , that granted were Maddox's childhood friends, but she also had a stake in finding the truth and played a major role in uncovering the truth.Liv was an asset to the investigation regarding the death of Maddox. She played an active role, knew she was in danger but acted like the smart person she is (both professionally and personally). As I said, the story is fast paced, but despite all the discoveries, the book ends with an HEA for Everly and Gabe, but the investigation into his death is on going.Sin Never Sleeps uncovers some ugly truths and makes the participants make some hard choices. But life is like that. Money and power don’t equal happiness or security from hurt.I loved the way Lexi and Shayla ended the book. The story is complex enough that sequels are necessary.Looking forward to reading Seduction in Session: Lara and Connor's story.

Fantastic start to a new series. Sex and intrigue in abundance
This is Gabe and Everley's romance, full of intrigue following the death of Game's best friend Mad. You learn about the Perfect Gentleman, see the world as it was made for them by powerful and ruthless parenting to ensure the boys realised the expectations assigned to them. The storyline evolves with each page, the backstory is set and the players moved into place. The intrigue deepens and the sense of danger increases. Gabe and Everley move towards each other in a well written dance that is a delight to read. There are plenty of sex scenes, all of them appropriate and loving. There are no potential triggers.Looking forward to the next book in this series series.

You know you're in love with a series when half way through the first book you go onto Amazon and order the next 2 in the series! Well done ladies but I had no worries that I wouldn't love this series as these ladies have proven time and time again that they are great writers!

A very exiting, suspense-packed romance
Deception is the first book in the Perfect Gentleman series. Six guys bonded in boarding school, stayed together through Yale, and now being in powerful positions they have to find out about an intrigue that is a deadly threat to them and their families. Each book is about another couple and their romance, and one aspect of the mystery is solved. You could call these books interconnected standalones. The underlying story is a progressive mystery that is very slowly unfolding throughout. In each last chapter the authors give a glimpse of the direction the next instalment will take, who will be the main character and where it will unfold. The first book is about Maddox Crawford’s sudden death. His best friend Gabe finds himself as the heir and when cleaning up the mess he stumbles across a charity used for traficking girls and the first hints of a big mystery connected to the russian mob.Gabe used to be Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor, with the new responsibility of a billiob dollar company and a pregnant sister he focuses on work and a geek IT security executive. Everly is a strong female character and helps him unreval the traficking and collecting pieces of the greater puzzle. This is a very exiting, suspense-packed romance.
