This cable was to replace another speedo cable in a 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. I replaced the original 2 piece set up with a one piece about 6 months ago with a cable I bought off a Land Cruiser specific website in Texas because I was getting speedometer jump. That cable was a bit longer and as it turned out, the way I routed it in combination with excess length caused a kink and eventually the cable snapped. This cable is a bit shorter which I'm *hoping* will not recreate the kink and breakage. I just installed it and the ends fit perfectly at the transfer case and the back of the instrument cluster. My cable did not include any extra lube as advertised but I lubed it myself with white lithium grease on the recommendation of several others. So far, so good, although I noticed this cable did not include the rubber gasket at the transfer case end that the one I'm replacing came with. I'm not sure this is an issue or not but I just reused the gasket.

After having to update my speedometer I had to also update the cable. I thought that this would be good for the price and gave it a shot. It was the right length and it fit perfectly on my transfer case. I was worried about the cheesy plastic clip that seemed to me like when it arrived might have been broken but it fits and stays on the back of my speedometer gage and the gage is only off by 2mph. Some friends told me to lube the cable housing from both ends with white lithium grease before I put the cable in and I would say that is VITAL if you buy this product.

The cable works but it would have been better if I had known that the casing connection at the meter end was not a threaded connection required for my 1967 Landcruiser . I was able to make the push in connector work by filing off the larger diameter rim.

I bought this speedometer cable specifically for a 1977 Toyota FJ40, this cable was of better quality than a cable I had purchased before from a Land Cruiser specific company. The length of this cable was perfect for running up from the transfer case behind the firewall and into the back of the instrument cluster. It has just enough slack to allow to cluster to be tilted forward to detach the cable, but not so much slack that I worried it would touch the exhaust or get caught on anything beneath the vehicle.Perfect for anyone needing a replacement or for a restoration.*FYI* You should remove the cable from the sheath and give it a good lube to extend its life. It isn't necessary but why not?-Upgrayedd

Not as heavy-duty as the original. Factory piece has reinforcement collars at each end. Works well, but remember to lube well before installation.
