Awesome portable microphone kit!
Update: I've used this for 9 months now for recording live music. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Remember: This microphone is good with default settings, and it is GREAT reward if you take time to understand it. If haven't already, check on setting proper gain level, recording format, mic pattern, limiter, compressor, positioning, etc. Enjoy! I’ve used this for 3 months recording live music. This is a high quality microphone with many options and practical accessories. It is simple to use. Audio review: The microphone has many pattern settings from wide angle to focused. When set up properly, sound quality is significantly better iPhone 16 Pro. Bass is noticeably cleaner and more defined. I use this for symphony/brass/wind bands. Shure recording app works seamlessly with iOS and provides simple premade recording settings (voice, acoustic, band, etc.) while still allowing full customization of mic pattern, gain, compression, and limiter. However you must practice with the software and mic setup. It takes a few tries to understand everything. I only use iPhone and haven’t tried Android. Read the instructions here—don’t forget to turn on airplane mode and do not disturb focus. Gear setup review: This is a great tiny kit rolled into a durable soft case. Setup is quick and sturdy, and can be done easily in the dark/live music setting. Standard tripod hardware means you can use any tripod, though the Pixi is fine. Mic connects directly to phone with provided standard cords. I really love the roll-up case with its mesh pockets. Small gear like this can be easy to lose, but Shure went out of its way to help you here. If you want to greatly improve your phone audio recording quality, are willing to test it out a few times, and need portable gear, this is a great choice.

One Mic, Endless Control — Broadcast-Quality Audio That Adapts to Anything
I’ve used a lot of on-camera and mobile mics over the years, and the Shure MV88+ Video Kit stands out because it genuinely adapts to how you work, not the other way around. I use this mic in two very different scenarios: video production and live sports broadcasting as a dedicated crowd-noise mic. The flexibility is what makes it special. Through the Shure MOTIV app, I can change polar patterns on the fly — wide stereo for crowd ambience, tighter patterns for interviews, or a more focused setup when I need clarity in noisy environments. The app isn’t just basic gain control either. I can dial in EQ, compression, limiter settings, and noise reduction (including wind handling) exactly how I want. The key part — and something many people don’t realize — is that once those settings are saved, they live on the mic itself. I set it up on my phone, disconnect, and then plug the mic straight into a camera, recorder, or even a mixing board, and it retains those settings. That’s huge for live work. In a basketball broadcast environment, I’ll configure it specifically as a crowd mic, mount it high, and let it do its thing. For interviews or video shoots, it quickly becomes a studio-quality condenser with clean, detailed sound that Shure is known for. If you’re buying it, I strongly recommend the Video/Media Kit version. It comes with nearly everything you’ll need right out of the box and saves you from hunting down accessories later. This is the kind of gear that rewards experience — the more you understand audio, the more powerful it becomes. Compact, reliable, and incredibly versatile. An easy 5-star mic for anyone serious about sound without dragging around a full studio setup.

Massive improvement from typical phone/computer mic
I used this to grab audio of some school concerts. MASSIVE improvement. The audio quality is really great. Works really well for capturing audio in a large room for a zoom meeting too. Really, it's just excellent at capturing wide area audio in stereo for a reasonable price.

Shure MV88+ video kit is great except for one thing...
I like Shure products, and the MV88+ works well for vlogging and recording voices just a few feet away or across a table. The kit includes a hand held or desktop tripod and all the parts needed to set up an iPhone. I have an iPhone 15 Pro MAX, and the MV88+ has two cables, one for Lightning and one for USB-C. The kit's iPhone holder is a disappointment. Instructions say the holder will accommodate horizontal and vertical positions with a protective cover. Not true. It holds only in the horizontal position without the phone cover; and frankly, it's not sturdy. There is a workaround: purchase the Manfrotto Smartphone clamp, pro version MCPIXI. It works in both a vertical and horizontal position with a cover. It's sturdier, and accommodates the mic at the top; plus it's on Amazon.

Perfect for On The Go Video Filming
We run an event company and I use this for our business twice a week and it's great. When you read the instructions it will tell you that you need to download the app. I use to do it that way, but found no difference in the sound quality if you just shoot through your phone's video feature. It comes with the cable that you need to plug it into your found and a mount, but if you want to attach it to your phone you will need to purchase a cell phone rig separately. It's lightweight enough that if you attach it to a gimbal it will still hold it. You can adjust the sound through the app, but I've never needed to. Red light indicator tells you when the sound balances are off or if you're too close to the sound source. Great sound capture - cuts out the background noise behind you. Though it's important to note that the sound capture is a "cone" not a "beam", so it will still pick up sounds next to you, just not behind you. If you were at a concert, this would get a lot of crowd noise around you - but if you're close to a stage or filming something without a lot of background noise, this will absolutely enhance the capture of the sound.

it's a good one
My teacher suggested this device. The recording quality is good. A little challenge to set up.

Froze the Phone
I was so excited when this arrived, because I've been looking to improve the sound quality of the microphone for my iPhone 12 Pro for these short videos I shoot and send to friends. Well, that was soon squashed as the microphone just will not play nice with my iPhone. So I took it out of the package and hooked this up to my iPhone, and it froze my iPhone. Okay, maybe there's just a firmware update and I need to get that fixed. I update the firmware via the official Shure app, and right after the firmware updates I click a few buttons and it freezes my iPhone. Okay, maybe I just needed a restart. Nope. Open any app and start using the microphone and go to switch apps and this mic freezes my iPhone. Tried to unplug the mic after I did a recording, and it froze my iPhone. No matter what I tried, this microphone would not play well with my iPhone. Note: When I say it froze my iPhone I mean the screen froze, then the phone turned off and automatically restarted. HOWEVER, I did get some recordings and if they were phenomenally better than the recordings from the iPhone built in mic, I thought this might be worth the hassle. Plugged in some good headphones and give them a listen (compared to some I took without the mic). Overall, the sound was more directional but the quality wasn't better. Like literally I sounded like I was speaking at my phone instead of around it, but the quality was no better when compared mic to mic. And this was after adjusting things in the app to get me to sound as good as I could. Is it worth $200? I didn't really think so. I've heard my voice in a really nice microphone, but this just sounded like the built-in iPhone mic that was pointed in the right direction. And for the hassle I was having with my iPhone freezing and restarting, definitely not worth the money.

Gran calidad

Very good bit of kit. Flexible, good sound quality, well-thought out app
Very good bit of kit. Good vocal clarity for podcasting and webinars. Being powered from USB makes it super convenient. Flexible options mean you can use it to capture a single voice, two people sitting either side of the microphone (for interviews), or an ambient room in stereo. In the stereo mode you need to use a Mid-Side matrix plugin to split the two signals from the microphone and produce a stereo mix. Plenty of info online about this. The accompanying app is well thought out. You use it to configure the microphone's recording set-up. You don't need to use the app to record the microphone. However, I choose to, and then export the files for post as needed.

Best mic for iPhone I’ve seen so far
I’ve used it quite a few times with my iPhone now and it seems the most adequate mic for music and it picks up sound a lot better than with just the iPhone mic. The small tripod is a nice way to carry the phone and mic although it only films horizontal, not good for instagram lives. However i bought a seperate tripod and it’s able to hold the mic while having the phone vertical. I’d recommend this mic if you’re planning to use this mic with your iPhone and are into filmography or music.
