Andre Rieu and Orchestra
I love Andre Rieu and his orchestra. Rieu is a showman as well as a great violinist. He makes his performances lively, encourages audience participation - clapping, waving, dancing and singing along with the music. Great fun for pre-teens through great-grandparents. Beautiful music and lots of fun.

Wonderful music and great background on how it is produced.
Unlike Andre's other albums, this starts with a disc of episodes shown on European television covering his return to work from a serious illness and he and his organizations preparation for several concerts. The second disc covers concerts they did in Mexico. Rather than an uninterupted video of the concert, it is chopped up with backstage video of support operations and interviews of members of his orchestra. When I first started watching this, I was disappointed that it was not pure music. But, the more I watched, I found the backstage and interview portions really gave a very interesting look at what what it takes to produce these mega concerts. It is well worth purchasing.

When did an audience ever respond to music played masterfully as in Fiesta Mexicana?
Here we have true entertainment. This entertainment captures the audience almost immediately. I have witnessed many audiences responding to Blue Danurbe. Never have I seen so many respond as in Fiesta Mexicana - what a beautiful event to view and see for yourself. The artists are the very best of the very best, the arrangements capture any listener with the best of tonal qualities, Andre is his own natural self bridging any gap between his orchestra, choir, and soloists, and leaves the audience wanting more and more and more and more. This is truly a must see and must hear spectacular! What a gift Andre Rieu, his orchestra, choir, soloists, and staff are in providing such magnificent lifegiving entertainment around the whole world. They're the very best!

What a night in Mexico
I believe this is one of the best shows Andre Rieu did for years and he was so smart to play songs related to the people there , I compare this show to the one he did in my city Montreal Canada while ago , no way to compare , in Montreal was a little fast food party and not at all to compare it with the effort he put there in Mexico , have no idea why , may be Montreal is not that hot as there in Mexico , who knows ??

FIESTA MEXICANA (2 DVD'S)
I HESITATED FOR A LONG TIME ABOUT ADDING THIS D.V.D.TO MY COLLECTION DUE TO THE MANY UNFAVOURABLE REVIEWS. I DECIDED TO SEE FOR MYSELF BY PURCHASING A CHEAP, SECONDHAND VERSION, WHICH MEANT I COULD NOT LOSE MUCH IF IT WAS AS BAD AS SOME SUGGESTED. DISC No1 IS A TWO HOUR INSIGHT INTO THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES LIFE OF ANDRE AND HIS ORCHESTRA. IT'S JUST AN EXTRA BONUS D.V.D. SO FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS REVIEW I WILL IGNORE IT AND CONCENTRATE ON THE MAIN DISC No2. THIS STARTS NOT AT THE CONCERT BUT WITH A TASTE OF MEXICO WITH ITS ALTITUDE PROBLEMS THROUGH TO A SPECIAL FAMILY OF FANS. A KIND OF PERSONALISED APPROACH FOR THIS FAMILY. WHEN THE CONCERT EVENTUALLY STARTED THE MEXICAN AUDIENCE WAS FULL OF FUN AND ENTHUSIASM, FUELED FURTHER BY THE RELEASE OF THE BALLOONS AFTER JUST TWO ITEMS INTO THE PROGRAMME. THE CONCERT PROGRAMME WAS FAIRLY STANDARD BUT THERE WERE CUT-AWAYS INBETWEEN MOST MUSICAL ITEMS SHOWING BEHIND-THE-SCENES, THE FANS ENTHUSIASM AND MUSICIANS CHATTING ETC. I CAN SEE WHY THERE ARE MIXED FEELINGS AMONG REVIEWERS ABOUT THIS ARRANGEMENT. BY DEPARTING FROM THE STANDARD FORMAT THE CONCERT DOES NOT FLOW IN THE NORMAL SMOOTH MANNER. THIS IS A D.V.D. FOR ANDRE RIEU FANS BUT NOT FOR FIRST TIME BUYERS, THEY SHOULD BUY "LIVE IN BRAZIL".TRACK LIST (DISC No2):1. OLE GUAPA2. SEVENTY-SIX TROMBONES3. RADETZKY MARCH4. HAVA NAGILA HAVA5. EARTH SONG6. Poor marketing, you need to know this before buying
If you are expecting a traditional Andre Rieu type live concert then you will be very disappointed. The first disk (a five episode documentary) in the twin pack is about Andre after his recovery from a prolonged illness. It gives a personal and 'behind the scenes view' of the 'World of Andre Rieu' including visits to Africa, Mexico and Mainau in Germany. Concert players and other people associated with the Company are interviewed giving rare and meaningful insights into the the planning and technical problems encountered. The second disk (a mini-documentary) is not about the Mexican concert but about the reactions of the Mexican people - their great love and wild enthusiasm for Andre and the huge, heart-warming effect this had on Andre and the players. The disk also highlights the difficulties in working at high altitude and the effect of the dry atmosphere on the reed based instruments as well as the problems when expensive instruments are damaged in transit. For those wanting to know more about the personal aspects of Andre Rieu, his 120 employees and the work involved in rehearsing and choreograpy, then these DVDs are a delightful, energetic and emotional must.Although I would rate this as five stars (my husband and I were still discussing how wonderful each disk was for at least a hour after we had finished viewing each one), I have given it a three star review because there is nothing to indicate what these DVDs are really about and this is why the reviews are so poor.

Dont know how to rate this one
This is a very weird DVD consisting of two discs. One is of fascinating interest to Andre Rieu's ardent fans because it is about an hour of showing how the great man came back from sickness and then the organisation of subsequent concerts. There is a great deal of input from Pierre Rieu who is Andre's son. While this input is mildly interesting I pay to see and hear Anre Rieu not his family. The other disc is more like the normal type of concert but with many breaks in the concert with people making comments, often about how much they like/love Andre The whole concert is disrupted by this nonsense.I dont think that I would have bought this DVD if I had any idea of what it was.I expected a couple of hours or so of the Orchestra but felt distincly short changed

Time wasting rubbish
I am a huge fan of Andre's but this DVD is such a waste of time and money. One disc is a documentary, okay, watch it once and put it away. However, even on the disc where he's playing music, each piece is preceded by talk. No-one gets tired of hearing music they love, but who on earth wants to hear the same comments over and over again ad infinitum? Stupidly I bought two copies of this, one for myself and one as a present. They only consolation is that I bought them cheaply secondhand on here. No wonder that the DVDs were in pristine condition, nobody could be bother playing them more than once I reckon!

andre rieu fiesta mexicana
My mother had it for this christmas as a present, she was very disapointed with it compared with andres other dvds. it was to much documentary and not a lot of the concert,my mother wished it had said on the information what it was on the discs ( ie what pieces of music was being played on the discs), and she only wished that his complamentry was in various languages (ie english) and not in subtitles and keep reading subtitles you loose concentration of the musicial dvd.
