The only thing that takes batteries is the remote for this dog and even with that, we still have the same batteries that we put in when we first got this which was about 3 weeks ago. My son plays with this every day, which has requiring us to charge this several times a day. On a single day, he'll drain the battery in the dog several times but the best part about that is that battery is rechargeable. The only down part about that is that it does take several hours for the battery to be fully charged. I do wish that it came with an extra battery or sold one but that is really my only complaint about this toy. What I didn't realize when I ordered this for him was this is voice controlled and not just by a remote. If you tell the dog to walk in a certain direction, it'll walk in that direction without actually pushing the buttons on the remote. Does basic tricks so don't expect it to do back flips as it's not that kind of toy. Perfect for our son and he loves his dog that will listen to him, our other dogs don't really listen to him like he wants them too.

My little guy got this for Christmas and loves it! It is very interactive and easy for him to use. He loves using the remote... such a fun toy!
