I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality on these lights. They are very sturdy yet light weight and compact. I was looking for a way to create a portable studio I could take on the road that still looks very professional and these fit the bill. I bought two of them.I was concerned about battery life on my first shoot with them as I used these for about 2.5 hours on at least 50% and the battery indicator on the back said it had less than 1 bar left. However, I did take them home after the shoot to run the batteries all of the way down and they lasted another 2.5 to 3 hours. I bought two Watson 7800mAh batteries for back up and these will last many hours with no problems.The reach on these lights is good. You can get nice strong lighting at 6 feet away so you don't need these right in your model's face during a shoot. They have a nice softbox feel and even at 100% brightness, they do not blind your model's eyes. I also like the round shape which shows up nicely in the reflection in your model's pupils. Sometimes square or rectangular lights can look a little funky when reflected in the eyes.If you have your own home or professional studio or portability is not an issue then you may want to stick with a more traditional set up with octoboxes and c-stands and sandbags and plug in lights. However, combine two of these lights with another cheaper rim light, an off camera flash, some Manfrotto light stands and you have a truly portable pro-level portable lighting studio for under $1000.Also, on a minor note, but a MAJOR plus. The cases these came in smelled a little musty. The equipment was fine but the cases smelled. I tried airing them out and using fabric softener and it worked a little. However, I called support and asked to send some new cases with a return label for the old ones. The rep on the phone said she would have to get approval from a manager. The manager called me back in about 30 minutes and shipped me new cases and a return label.Great product and great customer service. I highly recommend these lights.

I wan't expecting much, but I bought a couple to use on a gig that wasn't critical. But, wow. The pair of batteries lasted about 2 hours at 100% power. The 5600K is spot on, thought the 3200K is too magenta for my taste. Even spread of light across the panel, though there is a slight dimness along the outer edge ---- totally acceptable, especially if you use gels. The yoke is sturdy and tightens down firmly. The charger is okay and the case protects the light and accessories well. I think I'd rather put both of the light kits I purchased into something like a Pelican case for road-worthiness.The build quality is reasonable for the price. Over the years Fotodiox has been making more competitive price/value products that have to be nipping at the bigger companies.

Buyer beware:I returned a defective light that I just bought in November, and I’m being charged a 20% restocking fee for returning it. And I paid $25 to ship it back. So I’m out $100 after being sold a light that didn’t work. Absolutely crazy and I’m having no luck with appealing the decision. There are other sellers of similar products, avoid this seller at all costs.

Really nice light. Very soft, perfect for a side edge/kicker or fill. Not quite powerful enough for a full key in most uses, but that's not what it's for. Excellent color rendition. Battery life is very good too.Totally recommended.

Good light. Nice quality. Easily change between 3200-550K. Brightness is good although not exceptional. Light is pretty soft. However a major issue is with the barn doors. They are too small to be useful, almost impossible to control the light spill.

I love it. Lightweight and compact studio light with a good range of color temperature and brightness. Comes with batteries, AC power, and a travel case — pretty much everything you need, except for a stand. I've been using this light almost every day since I got it and can't wait to get another one.

The quality of this light is superb. I was pleasantly surprised to find the frame of the light to be all metal. Variable color temperatures help greatly to dial in the lighting in run and gun situations, and make pairing this light with another of its kind incredibly easy. The carrying case is a great touch. I'm also finding myself using the included batteries more than I thought I would.

Only knocked a star because of the price. I feel they could offer them a bit cheaper, although they seem to be built very sturdy. FWIW, the carrying case is fairly large (but light weight).I bought two and so far, so so good! Perfect, quick setup for interviews. Easily bright enough 6-8 feet away and the power and temp adjustment are very welcome. Great on skin. They're sleek, non-invasive and will keep your talent comfortable - they're not hot at all. I intend on purchasing another - waiting a little while for a price reduction.

Love how thin it is and that it comes with rechargeable batteries for cordless use. The strap for the carrying case came broken so I've been having to carry it my hand vs over my shoulder.The construction of the case is great for the flapjack but for the price it doesn't come with a stand, even though it doesn't come with a stand It would have been nice if the case was able to accommodate a stand. It's large enough to carry on it's own and it's not like there is anyway to use it without a stand.
