Echelon Smart Fitness Bike

This is a fantastic bike for the money! Set up was super easy, took me about 30 mins total including unboxing. The ride is incredibly smooth and totally silent. It’s got a small footprint which is really great if you are in an apartment or have limited space. All the tools are included and there are very few parts in the assembly. I’ve not set up the app yet, but will give the free trial a try. One thing to note, this bike comes standard with a racing seat. Racing seats are not designed for comfort, so if you’re not used to them you have a couple options- swap out the seat, or get cycling shorts which have padding in the butt. I am not a fan of the squishy seats, as they are wide so if you stand up for climbing, stick with the seat this comes with and do yourself a favor and invest in a good pair of cycling shorts. You should also note that everything is adjustable - take some time to try different riding positions before you judge this bike as it can make a difference. I’m 5’ 8” and it’s perfect for me, and I could see this working for anyone between 5’ and up to 6’4” which is a pretty big range for a bike. This replaces an old chain spin bike that I’ve had for a decade and wow, what an upgrade. It’s everything I’d hoped for at a quarter of the price of the fancy bigger name spin bikes. Echelon makes other fitness equipment including workout mirrors, so it is not some fly-by-night company. I’ve been looking for a solid bike for about 6 months and did a lot of research befor investing; I’ve shifted from running to cycling to save my knees and so definitely wanted something high quality. The build feels super solid and as I said, the ride is smooth and comfortable. Can’t wait to add this to my daily workout routine. I really like this bike but let me start off by telling you a little bit about me. I am 6‘3“ about 250 pounds. In the last six months I have really been working on fitness. I am also almost totally blind, so when looking for a new bike, ease-of-use was one of the biggest pluses. I spent an unhealthy amount of time over these months, listening to review videos on just about everything out there from the bottom of the line to the top. I found myself coming back to this bike over and over again. And since I had also heard them advertise a few times on one of the radio shows, I listen to it kind of cemented the fact that it is where I should be. I want to go over the quality. This bike is really solid. Like I said I’m not a small man, and I’m going through the paces on a work out. The bike wasn’t squeaky. In fact, it was extremely quiet. Quiet enough where I realized how hard I was breathing… Another reason I bought this bike was because of the Bluetooth connectivity. Not necessarily looking to use their app , but at least to have the output numbers since I use a different app. It was nice to have a bike that you didn’t have to jump through a lot of hoops to use someone else’s. As most people that are limited vision will attest to when you find something that works you don’t wanna venture outside of your comfort zone to try to learn something new. It was awesome that echelon Gave it the ability to use somebody else’s app. Needless to say I am extremely happy with my purchase. I’m only a few rides in, but I expect this thing to stand the test of time and to be honest at $500 I think the value is absolutely fantastic. You get everything you pay for in this bike and a lot more. It was easy for my daughter and I to put together and we were testing it out within about 30 minutes. I wanted a magnetic exercise bike that was excellent quality, provided me a smooth, trackable ride and didn’t break the bank. Prior to purchasing, I watched tons of YouTube videos i.e., comparison, quality, price, magnetic vs. old school. Videos pretty much on every decent brand of magnetic bike Peloton, Schwann, Joroto, Sunny, Proform, Echelon and many more. Even the different styles for each brand name. There truly are so many different bikes. I went with the Echelon EX-15 and I got it in the mail today!!!! I couldn’t have been more excited!! Amazon delivered it right to my living room floor. I did NOT purchase the Amazon assembly, just the $9.99 delivery fee to get it inside the house. I literally set it up in less than 30 minutes, it’s so freaking easy and the directions are perfection, exact step-by-step instructions are provided. SO EASY!!! You really don’t need to pay the extra $80 for assembly. While I was putting it together I noticed how superior quality this bike actually is. It’s so nice! Once put together, I plugged in my bike, added my iPad, opened the echelon app and took my first ride on it! Wowza, it’s freaking amazing! So smooth, and literally makes no sound at all! I can’t believe I got this bike for a mere $399!!!!!!! Even more so, I can’t believe people pay $1400-$2800 for other high end brands. Seriously people, if you’re considering a magnetic bike you will be so happy with this bike!!! Don’t waste all the extra money on a name. The higher priced ones simply have a screen. If you already have an iPad use it and get this bike. Additionally, I find the echelon app for instructor led classes monthly fee to be quite high ($40 per month)! You don’t need the membership. Download the app to your phone, set up an account, go to other, select free ride and you can operate and track your workout on your phone. For actual instructor led classes, I signed up for the Peloton classes which are only $12.99 per month!!!! So, download Peloton app on your iPad and whooop there ya go! You’re ready to take Peloton classes on your iPad and your phone will monitor everything else on you echelon app. It’s pretty amazing! And all this for $399 and a $12.99 monthly fee from Peloton. So happy and thankful to everyone who posted YouTube videos and allowed/helped me in making such a great, cost effective purchase! Hoping to pass this info and purchase success on to everyone!

I’m always a little worried when I purchase anything sight unseen…especially if it costs $500. But, I have to say the Ex-15 exceeded my expectations on every level but one. Google does not have an app that is supported on my Samsung tablet so, I cannot use my tablet to use the Echelon exercise and ride programs. This is not any problem with the quality of this bike, but it does detract from the value of the purchase…now I will need to purchase another tablet if I want to use the Echelon app. I could download the app to my iPhone, but that screen is kinda small for taking rides or classes. Back to the bike…it’s nice. It’s beautifully built and runs silently. I’m not particularly a spin bike type. Has always struck me as an activity for people with an obsessive compulsive disorder or worse. Who in their right mind could find spinning a bike at 120 rpm even remotely interesting. But I think riding a bike is an enjoyable way to get a rational amount of exercise. I think this bike will have no trouble giving you a spin workout if that is your inclination. It is a sturdy and well built machine that stands up well to hard use. I know this because I have tried a few spin classes and it is a capable machine. Thought the spin classes were torturous…to each his own. I’m 6 foot and 190 pounds. It fits me well. There is nothing about the bike that I don’t like, other than the issue with the app not being available on my tablet. That is not a deal breaker because plenty of other app options are available. I’d say that if you are like me and are hesitant to throw down that much dough for something you can’t see and scrutinize first, you will be pleased with the build quality of this bike. In respect to resistance, I watched the Tailhappy reviews of this bike and was concerned at Matt’s opinion of this bike not having the most resistance of the bikes he has reviewed. Well, I don’t know what it takes to make him happy, but I’m not having any trouble working myself into a pool of drivel after about 20 minutes on 20 resistance on a scale that goes to 32. Is this an exercise bike for someone who is in training for the Tour de France. Probably not, but for us mere mortals, I think it is great deal. The seat is well made, the pedals are good and everything has ample adjustability. It’s smooth too.

This bike was very easy to assemble. Took maybe 40 min and I took my time, the directions for assembly were very clear. I was a little nervous when it came to the pedals because never have I had luck putting them on. Directions explained the left pedal is a reverse thread and just like that it went on without issues. Yay me! I took a 40 min ride the 1st nite so I could make adjustments prior to workout the next aftn. It connected without and issue. I've read in reviews others have had issues and could not connect to the app so I was concerned I made the wrong choice. Day 3 behind me and no connection troubles.You get a month free with the echelon app and I will forewarn the monthly membership is pricey, 39 a month. If you pay for 2 yrs it is 33. I've read if you do not go with the membership you can still use freestyle in the app. I will renew atleast once and see how it goes. Some say you can use the peleton app and that's around 12 bucks. I do not understand why echelon is so much more. As for the ride it is a very quite ride. The only noise coming off of the bike was from the rider, me, yelling at the instructor because they tell me to increase resistance to like 18 and I am a beginner! Just wait Echelon. I will get there Cons? Well the pricey app membership but if it gets my backend to commit money we'll spent depending on a person's budget. I have experienced the seat sliding back on m e after it was assembled tightly but I may not have had it snug enough. Was being careful not to strip any threads . That's it, I love this bike! I think one needs to take in consideration of one's size and internet connection before buying. The bike itself fit through the doorway when I wheeled it into another room. I think this bike is a great choice for beginners.

I used to have a peloton - ride it for three years very happily. I sold it to a friend because I got really into running. I had to stop running for all the reasons they share you should not run. I decided to buy a new bike but did not want to spend $2500 for a Peloton. So I found this. I just finished my first ride and it basically felt like I was on my old Peloton. Quality, speed, quiet and smooth ride were basically indistinguishable. I saved $2100 with this purchase vs rebuying my peloton. Some considerations: - I still use my peloton app to do rides (I love Ally love). I don’t mind not having a cadence counter because I use the music to adjust my speed. It would be a plus if this bike had one but not something that is really important to me. - set up was super easy - took me 30 min. I did need my husband to help me carry the box up to my office. I did not need his help to move it once it was put together. - something anyone can use - the peloton was only able to be used by my husband if he bought the shoes. I like that this one doesn’t need the shoes so he has one less excuse for why he isn’t working out more often 😂.

Update 7/25/22: I've been using this bike for a while now and have enjoyed it for the most part, but they just updated the app in a way that completely messes up the way that I've been using it. They're trying to force people who've already paid 500$ on a bike to get their $35/month subscription. Basically, what they changed is that you now have to not only have the echelon connect app open and connected to the bike to be able to change the bike's resistance, but it now has to be front and center on your phone. So as soon as you switch to the video you were watching while biking on any other service, you cannot lower or increase resistance. This may seem like a small change, but it makes it virtually impossible to use any other exercise video service than what they want to sell you, which is overpriced and appears to be poor quality. Instead of making their video service better and more affordable to customers who've already given them hundreds of dollars, they try and force their customers to subscribe by restricting their access to the built in features of their own products. This is where we're headed. Companies will be doing this more in the future. Please do not buy this product - we cannot support this. My advice is to find a bike that is "stupid" and not bluetooth or wifi connected at all so that you will be certain that the features will be available to you in the future. I would not buy this bike again and honestly I'm contemplating selling it on craigslist and upgrading to a schw**n ic3 when I have the money. It's a better bike all around (my local spin studio uses them so I've tested them) and they won't do this crap because you don't even need an app to use it. If you're really set on this bike, fine. It's usable and the physical components seem to be reliable. But on principal, we should not be supporting companies that are deliberately designing products so that they can control our use of them and force us to spend more money AFTER we buy them. Big tech already controls so many parts of our lives through our phones and apps. For our sanity and privacy, some devices should really be kept simple. ---------------------------- I just bought this a few days ago and assembled it yesterday, so I can't comment on how it is long-term. The only competitor I can compare it to is the one they have at the spin classes I do in person (Schw***). So I can only compare it to a much more expensive bike. The crazy thing is that it really does compare. It feels really solid when I'm on it. I weight about 150 lbs for reference. My bf is 160 and he said it felt solid too. It is surprisingly quiet but not silent. The resistance is very smooth, especially by comparison to the bikes I've used in spin class (they are also magnetic resistance but they are not as smooth feeling... not in a bad way though--hard to explain). One downside is the echelon fit app. I don't have the subscription so i don't know if that'd change anything. For some background, you have to use this app to connect to the bike to see your #s--resistance, distance, time, etc. My biggest issue with it is simply that they put promotions for their live classes in the background. I don't really get why paying $500 for a bike isn't enough money to at least use the main features of the bike ad-free. Otherwise, I honestly love the bike. I was going to buy the walmart version of this but after reading some reviews and comparing based on looks too, this one is clearly better.

If you are looking for a quite indoor bike this is the way to go, especially for the price. The bike was assembled in about 45 minutes. I love this bike. I have had the for about a month with no issues. I used the bike for 2 weeks for at least 3 days a week. I did wait sometime to ride due to the uncomfortable seat the bike comes with. I would recommend buying the Echelon oversize seat that is available on Amazon. I also brought the gel seat cover for the oversize seat. This is will make the bike comfortable while riding, especially if you are going to get out of the saddle. I have no pain after. I have completed several workouts seated and standing and the bike is holding up. I would be sure to setup the bike where it will be used as it is heavy. I attempted to move a few inches on my mat and it was a struggle but I'm a small person. I have no activated the 30 days Echelon membership because I wanted to make sure I like the bike and seat prior to. I have been using YouTube videos that are awesome. But I will activate my membership next week. A mat is also recommended as you will sweat. The blue light is for your personal device to connect to the bike while using the app. My personal dislike is the is no display unless you use the app and you will have to use a standard water bottle as the holder is tiny.

This is my first bike and I love it. I chose this one because the fly wheel is encased. It is safer to ride around my cats. Came with a couple scratches that would normally bother me but I love the bike so I’ll get over it. You can’t see your resistance or cadence without the app. So you will need to plug the bike in if you want Bluetooth. I couldn’t figure out how to use the app without activating the free trial. So I found a different app to use instead. It doesn’t have a screen so you will need a phone or tablet if you want. Or you can just ride it without Bluetooth if you don’t care to see your resistance or cadence. This bike does not have SPD pedals so if you like to clip in you will need to buy those separately. The seat hurts my butt. I might buy the oversized seat if I don’t get used to it. I already feel like it’s hurting less after one week of riding. Bike is easy to assemble, sturdy, quiet, smooth. I’m a new rider so I think it’s a good entry level bike for the price. I’m pretty happy with it. Now I don’t have to travel to the gym for a quick cardio session.

I’ve had the bike now for three weeks and absolutely love it. It’s a great bike for the price. I was deciding between purchasing the 4s+ from Costco on sale for $999 then this bike went on sale from Amazon for $599. I had researched every bike out there and watched so many videos and reviews I came to the conclusion this is the best affordable bike unless you want to spend the money and get a peleton. The bike was very easy to assemble I did it myself in 30mins. I did watch tailhappy assembly video on YouTube. The bike is sturdy, quiet and just a really nice ride. I did get a gel seat cover. I love that I can watch anything and not have to subscribe to the echelon app. I think this is better than getting the bikes with a screen. I’m currently using the free month with peloton and will decide if I want to keep it or just watch YouTube videos. Very happy with this purchase.

The bike itself is excellent! Hard to beat, at its price point. The accompanying app can be frustrating sometimes. Possible to use without signing up for Echelon's paid subscription, but you have to hunt a little to find the free "Freestyle" mode (hidden behind a secondary menu under "More"), and the app updates occasionally make things worse before they get better (connectivity issues, etc).

The Echelon EX-15 fitness bike is probably good enough for most beginners. It is sturdy and the magnetic resistance and belt-driven system are impressive. You do not have to subscribe to their plan and you can just use the "Freestyle Ride" feature. Assembly was easy and all parts fit properly. The Bluetooth feature works with iPhones and the Echelon Connect software is adequate. The seat is firm and narrow, so you may want to consider other options. For a base model, this is good so far.

Definitely worth the money. It was super easy to build, it’s very sturdy. I haven’t used the app so I can’t confirm or deny the complaints people have soda about it but you definitely don’t need the app to use the bike. You can adjust the resistance without it. For people using the bike for some quick cardio a few times a week this is definitely all you need.
