Fast & fun intro to Chalk Paint applications on real scratch & dent furniture projects
This is a fast read and a good exposure for a newbie like me to chalk paint and applications. I wish she would have included actual chip samples of all her paints and waxes. Her projects were varied enough and her instructions detailed enough for an intermediate renovater like me. I found the book helpful, well illustrated and of high quality print and editing.

You don't need to sand!
I love this paint. Annie Sloan is a genius. She researched paint colors from previous centuries & created their equivalents. Plus a simple way to antique your furniture, and it looks real. Book shows everything. Love the gold gilt on mantle above fireplace. Ideas abound, every style.

An inspiring and un-fussy approach!
I have always been fascinated by faux finishes and the transformative power of paint. Annie's book and the "Chalk Paint Revolution" have really taken the roof off what it means to create new works of art by using simple finishes and fairly traditional materials. Some have been critical of this book's lack of detail at times. To me, it's a deliberate reminder that the art is within me! How do you explain the feel of the wax, or the nuance of how your brush lays paint on a rough surface? I don't think one can, and I'm kind of glad she didn't try too hard to do so! The photos are very pretty and her sense of color is divine. There's also a pretty good mix of project types -- the only thing missing for me is some painting techniques for fabric...maybe that's next!

I LIKED!
For such a long book, it was a quick read. My main concern for a “how to book” is how much instruction is shared. This book is quite informative! Instructions are not overly detailed. They are short, simple and clear.

Inspirational Book and Author
Annie Sloan is such a delight in person, and just like her book, makes it seem so easy to transform a plain piece of furniture into an "antique treasure" for your home! Great photos and easy to follow directions. The great thing about the Chalk Paints and waxes...flexible! If you don't like the results it's so easy to re-do until you have the perfect finish you want for your furniture piece. Love Annie; love her books! If you paint furniture, this book is a MUST HAVE along with Annie's fabulous CHALK PAINTS and special waxes. You can order directly from a USA stockist; just find one near you by going to Annie's website.

Good Technique for Chalk Paint
I wanted to learn more about the chalk painting method for finishing furniture, and this seems to be a good introduction. There are quite a few projects and good color photos of each. I must admit that I do not have the time or energy to go through all the steps involved to achieve this technique, so have not tried any of the projects. I just painted the cabinet that I have, but this would be great for someone who wants to get that antique look.

Easy Furniture Transformations
This is a beautiful book - it makes you want to buy a piece of furniture just to learn how to paint like shown in the book. I didn't think the instructions were detailed enough or had enough information about the type of paint to use (unless you purchased the paint from the writer or one other place in the US). But, I found the book to have excellent examples of what can be done with an otherwise ugly piece of furniture to revive and make it beautiful.

It looks easy!
How can something that looks so easy, with the final result so pretty, be possible? This book will show you how, with the right old items, you can turn something plain into a designer piece that will be stunning. I can't wait to try it out on some of my smaller things, then do something larger, like a desk or chest. The illustrations are very good and the instructions are good but aren't very detailed.
