Total width shows 43.3" - 1. what is the width of the shelf? and 2. what is the width from leg to leg of the wider opening?

Hello George. 1. The width of the shelf of this VASAGLE narrow bar table is 11.8 in/30 cm. 2. The width from leg to leg of the wider opening is 28.3 in/72 cm.

How much weight can the main counter top hold?

I don't know if there's a weight limit but the table is sturdy. I have a Berkey water filter sitting on mine. You could check with the company.
