My 17β laptop fits!
I know you are looking at this item for hiking or for tactical sporting. Great. Itβs a great sling pack. As a person who wanted a sling pack for my laptop, I hunted for this bag with a single-shoulder strap and a fat main compartment. This is the one. The extra pockets allow me to carry all the cords and accessories my laptop need to make presentations or connect to other devices.Downside of this as a laptop bag: no padding. You need to add a bumper pad to the bottom of the bag to protect your device. I did it, my laptop still fits, and I feel safe carrying it around.

1 Year review. 10/10
this bag has been great. its comfortable, rugged, and has plenty of room for the size. the only issue i had, was the back zipper for the special pocket, hangs up from time to time, but after working it back and forth, it cleared up. the water bottle retention is good, but unfortunately broke on mine. most likely user error, but still happened. all other zippers and pockets work great, and show no signs of stress, wear and tear, or anything. for the price, would recommend 10/10

Nice bag but not very organized
After trying a hiking day pack I realized that I missed the tactical sling bag I used to carry, so I bought this to fill that spot. For a hiking backpack this works pretty well, although I've only used it once before it got cold.I like the sling, it's well padded and holds the pack pretty secure, however it is locked to slinging over my left shoulder and I'm used to slinging bags over my right. It's not the end of the world, but it's an annoyance. The internals is where I'm meh. There's lots of space, but it's just organized ...weird. The slots and compartments are on either side, but the because of the way they are configured I find them pretty useless. If they would have turned the compartments on the backside of the backpack so you load them from the top, I could have fit a smaller laptop in. But as they are configured I have nothing in them.I'm not returning it because it's a decent pack for hiking. But regrettably it's not flexible enough to be my EDC bag, so I'll have to keep looking.

Awesome!!!
This bag is sick!!! Itβs the perfect size and shape. Iβm not a small guy and it fits perfectly. Well made with so many options to configure.

Awesome pack for the money!
This is basically a knock off of a maxpedition kodiak for a third of the price. It doesn't have the 1000D cordura nylon, or the triple stitching, or the taped seams, or all the little spandex webbing to tuck little items into. But neither does it have the $150+ price tag that comes with the maxpedition.Construction quality was awesome. There are none of those crooked stitching lines and cheap materials that you can actually see falling apart in front of your eyes that you get with the really cheep knock offs. The material is heavy enough that I foresee years of service.I use this as EDC pack, and for me it's perfect. It's lite enough even loaded that I hardly notice it and it has enough room and compartments to hold every thing I need to haul around with me on a daily basis including basic survival stuff (fire starter, water filter, first aid). And even a change of under pants for Moms peace of mind.

Perfect sized sling bag
This bag is the perfect size for EDC. It can carry a water bottle in the side pouch. Very convenient pockets and organization for what I carry.

Not practical
I LOVED THIS BAG! I ended up returning it though. Purchased as a vehicle emergency bag. The sling style seemed to be a good idea, but a pain in the butt to sling over head. There is an added side/chest strap to avoid slipping but made removal more of a pain, but when not in use it just gets in the way. So if I was just grabbing my bag to walk inside, I couldn't sling over one shoulder because it would slip off, so I would have to pull it up over my head. Main reason I returned it was because it is too small on my back. My wife commented that it wasn't manly.

Good pack, but not without issues.
This was my first entry into sling packs. Yes it does its job, but lacks organization. Also the smaller pouch on the front of the pack at the top was not sewn on straight and it aggravates me every time I look at it. This is essentially a cheaper version of the maxpedition pack that has been copied by numerous companies. I love Allen gear for their storage cases, but this is a tad bit disappointing. Still in daily use, however its probably about time for an upgrade. Not sure how much I really like sling packs anyway...

A Copy Of The Maxpedition Kodiak But Half The Price ~ MARCH 2019 UPDATE IN END ~
As stated in the title, it's a copy of the Maxpedition Kodiak but less expensive. Maxpedition makes their packs more stiff to the touch, probably from the coating that is applied to them. So the Allen Co. version is a bit more flexible in texture. I chose this pack because I needed something that could easily swing around when commuting on public transportation where it's limited on space during rush hours. This pack serves it's purpose and seems to be holding up with it's daily use, so I feel it's just as good quality as Maxpedition packs. The inside main compartment has a mesh pocket system on the front part and the back is just a sleeve like open style. They're both positioned that you can grab things when it's swung around your shoulder, so it sits side ways open rather than upward on a regular pack. Highly recommend if you don't need the extra comforts of the Maxpedition Kodiak and the value pricing of this compared to the original design.PS. After constant daily use within a year, the quick release strap broke. It was still functional where only one prong catch broke off but eventually it would gave out too. I doubt Allen Co. uses high grade polymer plastics for its buckles so it gave out easily with constant latching and unlatching for almost a year. Anyway, the buckle seems like a generic type so it can easily be replaced from other random packs one might have or something you can buy in the outdoors section at a Walmart, I did the former since I have other Allen Co. packs.PSSThe quick detach buckle wasn't generic and isn't easily replaceable so I had to give up on it since I didn't believe it lasting even if I could use a buckle from an older Allen Co. pack I had. I ended up with a 5.11 Tactical MOAB 10.

Excellent little pack
Excellent little pack. A little smaller than I though it would be on my body, but the measurements are accurate. Really really well made. I wear it for both hiking and on my motorcycle. Comfortable enough for a sling and tons of storage options externally as well as internal. 5 out of 5 stars

Great Pack
This is a great pack. Very well put together with tons of features inside and out. This is the second Allen Company product I have bought. The other was an Atacs-Au soft case for my gun. Well put together. I am happy.

Very well designed but kind of small
I love the design of this pack, as it has many pockets. The carry conceal pouches would be great for photography as well, because with a little velcro sticker on your camera, it would sit stable on the velcro inner wall of the pouch (i'm taking go pros not big 35mm cameras) The sling pack would be great for travelling because you could have your passport etc in the front pouch and just swing it to the front and pull it out. This is not possible in a regular backpack without taking it off. Other than it being a bit smaller than I hoped, it's good as your carry on personal item when flying.
