Great Tool
This tool works great for changing out grill inserts. Works beautifully for the job it was designed to do. Do not make the mistake of using it as a handle to to carry the food that was cooked on those inserts, as it's not designed to support the excess weight. One of the kids thought they'd use it to transport over 12 ears of corn that I had cooked on the veggie tray. Not sure what that weighs, but they bent it and broke the handle. Prior to the mishap, I used the tool extensively to switch out inserts, and ALWAYS transferred the cooked foods onto other dishes and used pot holders for the hot foods. Try removing those hot inserts without this tool, and you will quickly realize its usefulness. Will be re-ordering soon, and the kids will be footing the bill!

Advanced looking tool for a hot simple job!
Application:Stok Replacement Cast Iron Center Grill on a Weber Platinum Performer Grill.I was hesitant on getting this tool but for such a reasonable price what can go wrong? Nothing! I love the fact that this tool is built heavy duty and looks cool. I didn't think I needed to remove the center grate often but now that I have the tool, I use it a lot mostly to move and distribute heat coal. My wife said it reminds her of the tool they used to swap out hot grills at Korean BBQ restaurants. At the beginning I was a little skeptical how securely it would grip the center plate because who wouldn't want sear marks on their feet? I can safely say the mechanism Stok uses passes with flying colors. So cool!

it seems different from the original- maybe better. anyhow - it is the right tool for this. Caveat- it has a bottle opener built in as well- and this version has a release button to disengage the item that I don't remember the original having. I don't know why this system isn't more popular (or hasn't been copied). I love my Stok grill with the changeable inserts and all of the other well thought out features (such as the ash bucket and lighting charcoal lighting chimney that also use this- or the built in thermometer in the lid).

Very Handy, But One Quirk
This is a great device, you'd have a hard time removing the center of the Stok grill without it. An odd thing about it though is that it can't securely clamp onto the tab on the grill until you've lifted it a little. The handle of this device is stopped by the side of the Weber kettle grill and it can't be overcome. Not really a big deal, but the instructions that came with this handle specifically warn not to lift the grill without fully clamping this in place first. But I'd definitely buy it again.

New life for an old friend.
Recently purchased a new Stok grill for my old Weber kettle. Purchased this to facilitate removing the center section. It works great! What else can I say. It holds the center grill section like an old dog with a new shoe.If you get the Stok grill or vegetable pan, you will want this. Other items might do the job like an old screwdriver, hot pad, tongs etc. but this is a well designed item made for the task.

A Must Have Accessory
I purchased my Stok grill as an open, display item that did not include the Insert Removal Tool. I ended up using a pair of pliers to lift the grill grate. While functional, I wouldn't recommend using pliers as a permanent solution. The Insert Removal Tool is easy to use and makes using the Stok grill a breeze. I love it!

Very nice product. Easy to use
Very nice product. Easy to use. Bought mine used on Amazon and saved a few bucks vs new. Absolutely could not tell it was used. But even if it had a scratch or two I would have been satisfied. Great for removing the hot center grate to add more coals or wood.

Broken on Second Use
Had high hopes with this, as a tool for my Stok cast iron grill grate. In just my second cook with it, the tool broke. The plastic housing is cheap and flimsy, at least when asked to lift the grill grate. Prompt refund earns kudos for Amazon. In my opinion, it is over designed. It does not need a lever to move the "teeth" into place. A single-piece tool would work better. Now I use a 3-prong aluminum gardening tool (cultivator) to lift the grate, and it works great. The tines fit perfectly between the grill grates.
