This double-sided hedge trimmer is a lightweight, easy-to-use model that’s perfect for the homeowner with a job to do. Husqvarna’s 122HD45 features Smart Start for speedier start-ups, plus a low level of engine noise so you won’t disturb your neighbors. Beyond the unit’s lighter weight, its built-in vibration dampeners absorb excess vibrations, reducing stress on your arms and hands. It’s the streamlined tool you need to cut perfect hedges every time.

Rugged and does the job.
Not sure why Amazon wanted me to rate "thickness" and "sheerness." Very strange. Glad I bought this. It replaces an electric trimmer that was slap worn out. This is definitely heavier, and you have to watch how you swing the thing. It has a lot of momentum and will hurt you if you are careless. It does an excellent job, powering through azaleas. It did take a while to get warmed up the first time I used it. Stalled and quit a couple of times and just wouldn't get past about 40% speed at max throttle. Once I let it warm up fully, I had no problems. The second time I used it, it started and ran well. I let it warm up at idle for 30-40 seconds and then ran it up. No worries. In a 3.5 hour session it cut out on me once, but started right back up on the first pull. I believe the idle is set "lawyer low" so that the cutter bar is quite a ways from moving on its own. I will tweak the idle up just a touch and it should be fine. I have a Husqvarna weedeater (which is why I went with this product) and it's been a solid performer for several years. I expect the same out of this hedge trimmer.

I'll Never Buy A Stihl Again!!
I had owned a Stihl gas powered hedge trimmer for about 5 years. Every time I used it, I spent at least 30 minutes trying start it. In that 5 years, it went back to the dealer for repair at least 6 times. The last time I wanted to use it, I couldn't get it to start and I decided not to spend another dime to have it repaired and ended up scrapping it. I've owned a Husqvarna leaf blower for 8 years and it never takes more than two pulls to start it. So, when I replaced my Stihl hedge trimmer, I decided to purchase this Husqvarna 122HD45 hedge trimmer. I unboxed it, filled it with the correct fuel ratio and it only took two pulls to start it right out of the box. It's lighter weight than my old Stihl and much easier to handle. I have about 50 bushes in my landscape to trim and this Husqvarna did a fantastic job. I couldn't be more pleased. I'm sure this will hold up as well as my Husqvarna leaf blower. I'll never buy a Stihl product again!!!

So Far So Good, but Anxious
I bought this refurbished. Not two seconds after I paid for it, I started to read all the bad reviews of this product. I am the same as the rest. I have lots of other Husqvarna tools and love them. No issues. I was distressed to read these reviews and very anxious. I started researching on You Tube and learned about adjusting a carb on a two cycle engine, ethanol in gas station gas and the damage it can do, and all the rest. I decided to try to use it and see how it went. I bought Husqvarna 50 to 1 gas and so far, it has worked like a champ. One thing I have been doing is adding gas, using the trimmer, and then emptying the gas back into the can, and leaving the lid off the trimmer gas tank. I am trying to prevent the gas line rotting like I have read about. So far so good.

Husky Hedge trimmer.
I can't tell you how many places I looked at for a gas powered Hedge trimmer. I wanted either a Stihl or Husqvarna. (Most of you guys understand what I mean). And, couldn't find one around here anywhere. We own several properties and let me tell you, it is SOOOO much better than the electric or cordless ones.VERY HAPPY! :)Update: Oct. 23, 2020I've read some of the reviews and I guess I lucked out. I did have to replace my fuel line this year, but I think that's normal wear and tear on my part. It is several years old and I use it quite often on our properties and side work.I also experienced "blade siezure," but nothing a little lube didn't correct. It's unfortunate some of you had issues, but I stand behind my rating.

The carburetor needs a special tool for adjustments and the public can not buy this tool per EPA laws ($10K fine if the shop sel
Last year we bought this as a Christmas present for our son to use at his new house (90 minutes away one way). It trimmed an 8' long by 5 ' high hedge one time. Next time he wanted to trim the same hedge, it wouldn't start. He took it to a local Husqvarna repair shop. The said they needed to order a part for the carburetor (3 month guaranteed part, so it was our expense). Two months later he wanted it back as the part never arrived. They returned it without charging him. We picked it up and took it to our local Husqvarna dealer and he adjusted the carburetor and returned it to us within a few days. We trimmed our 3X3X5 foot privet shrub and then took it back to our son as it was working. The first time he turned it sideways to trim his hedge, it quit working. We took it back to our local dealer and he adjusted the carburetor at no charge. We took it to the parking lot and started it - sure enough, the minute it was turned sideways, it quit. Took it back into the shop and they adjusted the carburetor again. Now it works when you turn it sideways, but for how long we don't know as we just got it back. The carburetor needs a special tool for adjustments and the public can not buy this tool per EPA laws ($10K fine if the shop sells this tool). Understand that EBay somehow has this available. Funny how, at the same time we were waiting for our second (third) adjustment, a guy came into the shop with his almost new Husqvarna chainsaw that needed his carburetor adjusted so he could use his saw. We are done with Husqvarna and sticking with Stihl - worth the extra money.

Great value, works like a champ!
I took this hedge trimmer out of it's packaging, followed the instruction brochure and put it to use. It is easy to use and lightweight for its size. Even though the handle is not adjustable, it cuts in every plane. I highly recommend this trimmer.

Gardner on a stick!
For a woman who loves to do my own gardening but before this magic hedge trimmer had to hire a gardener with heavy equipment to trim my hedges, this is perfect. It is not heavy yet it is powerful. It trims through sea grape hedges like butter. It will not cut 2" limbs but anything smaller it takes it down with no problem. Also, it cuts on both sides so I can get a wonderful sweeping motion without switching hands. Now I look for any excuse to power it up and have even volunteered to do my neighbors hedge that intrudes on my property. I am a Husqvarna convert from now on.
