QT Did Not Write This And It Shows
Somehow allowed myself to assume that Tarantino wrote this because Amazon lists his name first as a writer. He did not write this. He did some brainstorming for about a day with the guy who went on to write it. In fact QT only gets co- ‘story by’ credit, along with ‘characters by’ credit. Start reading and it'll be clear pretty quickly that QT isn't the writer. The dialogue feels desperately Tarantino-esque instead of like Actual Tarantino. The imitative dialogue here is so much worse than if the writer had just done his own thing instead of trying so hard to channel QT. Story here is also pure imitation. The whole project is just a rehash of Django Unchained with Zorro as a Schultz proxy and both characters committed, just like in the movie, to punishing greedy, racist slavers and freeing those they enslave. It’s an unnecessary sequel in that it doesn’t deepen or complicate the title characters. It’s got all the superficial hallmarks of Tarantino’s work ( from the wannabe dialogue to the copycat story to non-linearity) but with none of the charm or soul or viciousness or ingenuity. I was excited to finally take the D/Z plunge based on QT having written it but I was full of disappointment when I did, because he didn't.PS just read that Jerrod Carmichael is involved in an adaptation of this story for the screen and I can not imagine wtf he’s thinking because he is a genius and this story just... is not.

100 years of Zorro!
Great crossover novel, Django and Zorro in Arizona, well thought out, well illustrated and very well done! I'm not much of a graphic novel reader and came across this from an article on 100 years of Zorro and this did not disappoint.I'll be looking for more graphic novels to read now!

Good Zorro, OK Django
Even if you didn't like "Django Unchained," this is still a fun book. Better for Zorro fans.

So good, it needs a follow up!
Maybe the best cross-over of the year! Loved the movie and love the Zorro comic. Tarantino's writing is fantastic and so is Wagner's art. I read so many comics and, I promise you, this one is killer!

good but unsealed
The book itself is a cool fun way to explore the character further but as a new hardcover it should come sealed to avoid all the scuffing on the jacket.
