CK Products Meringue Powder 1 Pound (16 Ounces)

My wife loves this CK meringue powder and it is the one she prefers for making the royal icing she uses to decorate the dozens and dozens of holiday and special event cookies she bakes. I've noticed that some other brands of meringue powders she had used in the past tended to impart the faint odor of rotten egg in the icing that is very noticeable and just ruins the otherwise delicious and nicely decorated cookies that she has put so much time and effort into creating. This CK powder does not leave that nasty trace odor of egg, so must be a more highly refined product than those other meringue powders. It definitely seems to be a better product and considering the all of the effort involved in decorating cookies and other baked goods, my wife feels it is worth purchasing this higher quality CK meringue powder.

I've tried meringue powder in the past and it was absolutely awful. To be honest, I never thought I'd use this stuff again. Full disclosure, I picked up my version from a craft store. Not exactly the best of the best, but really well known nonetheless. That said, I needed to make some royal frosting. I googled the best meringue powder and CK Products kept popping up. I ordered some and baked my first batch of cookies. This is the amazing! It doesn't smell like rotten eggs (like Wilton) and it actually tastes good enough to taste test prior to use. My royal icing came out perfectly!

It does it's job and makes a nice royal icing. Tastes better than other brands.

Update: Thrilled to report that the prices on meringue powder have finally come down! The price of the 2-pack is what ONE bag cost just a few months ago. My bags looked new and best by date is 01/2019 Just bought another set !I used to use ATECO meringue powder as it yielded great results (for royal icing) but the prices have been insane lately!I read that CK meringue powder was very high quality so I decided to try it. I compared the icing side by side (I had some Ateco powder left) and I'm thrilled to report that the Royal icing looked and tasted identical. Do NOT use Wilton brand as the taste is bad. CK (and Ateco) have a really nice "vanilla" marshmallow taste. No need to add clear vanilla to your icing. I will buy again!

Powdery bits of luciousness. First of all, smells like a vanilla milkshake instead of the rotten egg smell of some competitors. Secondly, it works great... I love how shiny and puffy my icing looks!

I am a cake artist and had to stop using fresh egg whites to make Swiss meringue buttercream icings due to Dept. of Public Health requirements for cottage food businesses. (Never mind that I used pasteurized egg whites from a carton AND heated them to 160 degrees F every time, but that is a rant against bureaucracy for another day.) I tried to use Wilton brand meringue powder as a substitute for fresh eggs...YUCK! There was an unpleasant acidic aftertaste. I tried the CK meringue powder instead -- we have a winner! This will be my go-to brand from now on. Whips up beautifully. It does taste a little different from using plain fresh egg whites -- which makes sense. But the flavor is still great.

Worked like a charm! I made lemon meringue pies for a social function. The meringue was sweet, fluffy on the inside with a nice crust on the outside. This meringue is amazing! The packaging leaves a lot to be desired, the direction printing is faded and illegible. Thank goodness another reviewer posted the directions on this site.

Compared to other meringue powders out there like that coming from Wilton, this stuff is top drawer. Now don't mistake that this is anything like meringue that you make straight from the egg, but it is good and most people probably won't notice all that much.The best part about this meringue is what it doesn't add to your product. While others can often add a fake or chemical aftertaste, it doesn't do that. It just acts like meringue. Now if we could just adjust that cost down a bit, I'd be willing to add a 6th star, because this stuff has made my life easier without compromising the product.
