Does it take a long time to cook something? Looking at the manual it looks like it takes 30 min+ to heat up before you can use it.

I don’t know where you are coming up with 30 minutes to heat up before cooking?” This unit cooks 70% faster than a conventional oven in any function plus the food tastes delicious!

Is there a cookbook that is best of this, something that covers all functions?

I have not found a cookbook that covers this unit specifically other than the one that came with it, so it’s been trial and just a few errors. But let me say this...I could NOT live without this appliance in my kitchen!!

How easy is it to clean the lid? I'm wondering if grease will get into places that are impossible to clean, like the heating element.

Pretty simple compared to what I read about other units. If frying something that really splatters I very lightly wipe down with a dampened dishtowel (only need to dampen cloth about 2 or 3 inches) after it totally cools down... otherwise I check it after a few uses. I never have any any major buildup It has a really good protective covering which is very easy to wipe with cover on or off. Takes less than a minute to do.

Is there anywhere I can buy the tempered glass lid for this product as ours broke

Yes...From the company as replacement parts! Check out the contact phone number for Power XL= Should be listed in your product manual!
