I used these to replace the gas props on the rear door of my truck's cap. Removing the old ones and installing the new ones was very simple and took maybe two minutes. You use a flat-head screwdriver to pry loose the clip on the end of the old prop, pop it loose from the ball joint bracket that's affixed to the door, and then snap the new props onto the brackets.However, although the product listing specifically mentioned truck cap doors as an application, these props are way more powerful than what I needed. The door is now difficult to lower, and I worry that the props will tear the brackets off. I suppose that's my fault for choosing a 55 lb prop rather than something with a lower rating, but I had no idea what strength I would need.
