This is sort of the gold standard of sound deadening material. Sticks well, easy to cut, does a good job deadening sound.. I would buy again.

I agree with the others; anyone who doesn't like this product must have installed it wrong. I have a 2000 Honda CR-V SE. I lined the underside of the hood, the entire roof, all four doors (inside the doors and the surface), much of the floor, the spare tire well, the rear quarters (inside, behind the rear speakers) and lots of the tailgate with two (2x) Bulk Packs (9 sheets each.) I had not planned to line the roof, but after gutting the seats, all trim panels, and all the carpeting it seemed worthwhile. I cannot explain how differently the vehicle sounds now. EVERYONE compliments it (including my wife, who could not understand why I was spending the time and money on the project in the first place, but now wants me to Dynamat her Solara!) The doors go "kfump". Knocking on the hood, roof, or doors sounds like hitting a solid wood desk. There are NO vibrations or rattles in the car whatsoever (I also got some cheap self-adhesive felt sheets from a hobby store and lined the ashtray, glove box, and little change compartments. Now it's like driving around with ear muffs on. There is still some road noise, because I have pretty knobby tires, but the incredible thing is that I can no longer hear my exhaust from the rear of the car, and sometimes I'll look sideways and notice an 18 wheeler beside me that I did not even hear. When I pass vehicles going the opposite direction I am used to the "whee-owwww" as they go by, but now it is a "whiff", or just silent. Lining the roof made a huge difference when driving in the rain, but since the windshield is so noisy in a downpour the cabin is still pretty loud, but there is no "ratta-tat-tat" from the metal anymore at all. I bought a heat gun and the rubber Dynamat roller specifically for this project (though I'm sure I'll get plenty more use out of the heat gun). I agree with many of the other reviewers that if you do not press this stuff down in FIRM contact with your vehicle that you will not get the best results. I've done MUCH (much, much, much, much...) research on this and the bottom line is that this product is so effective because of "vibration damping", NOT sound blocking. If you hold a sheet up in midair between you and a speaker it will have no effect. If you glue it to the speaker you will virtually stop the sound. I can also go on about how AMAZINGLY different that my stereo sounds, but I think everyone else covered that. Yes; more mid-bass. Yes; you will hear things in your music that you never heard before. Something that surprised me though was how much quieter your music is OUTSIDE your car. I am not a loud person, and I always turn the volume down at stop lights, and in residential neighborhoods, but one time I stepped out of my car and left the stereo on at a pretty comfortable level. When I closed the door I could not hear it at all. Nothing. Nada. That was a nice bonus. This stuff is incredible when installed right. Amazon had the best prices in all my searches. You will ache, you will probably bleed, but a weekend or two of hard work should reward you for years. Enjoy!

As others has said, I bought to improve sound and road/car noise for my '01 Miata. Got the 9 pack here on Amazon and installed last night. I recently upgraded my stock radio with a new head unit, Alpines in the doors and a Bazooka in the trunk. 450 total watts total. Love the improvement... but with a roadster, noise is a killer, so I broke down after much research and bought the Dynamat pack. So I started on the trunk and lid, fully lined single layer, did the inside rear quarter panels too. Could immediately notice the trunk sounded tighter, less echo. Took 2 hours of effort, but I had to use 5 sheets (18x32) and used a lot more than I thought for such a small trunk. Moved on to the interior with what was left. Pulled passenger seat, carpet and tranny tunnel and used 3 more sheets on floor and behind seat. I figured at this point, doing each area fully and getting more product to finish was wiser than trying to conserve and not getting everything done. Well after 4 hours, I ran out, without getting doors or driver's side, but after a couple test drives am pretty pleased with the results! Can only imagine the improvement when my next pack arrives to finish what's left. Will probably do doors double layer, maybe under the hood if I have enough left. Trunk is very tight, quiet on the outside and no vibrations Everything you've probably read is exactly correct. Clean first, roll on tight, seal well. I used the roller and a small rubber mallet to press and seal, the mallet was a big help, with the long handle to reach tight spots and really press down the material. Messy, sharp and sweaty work.. all true. But the results are well worth it. My car is considerably quieter, the music tighter, even without it all completed. All told, a couple hundred will go into the effort, about 8 or so hours to complete. This product delivers what it says, I highly recommend it! Be sure and get enough when you order, it will probably take more than you think, you'll find areas you hadn't thought of to cover, sometimes you'll want to double it up. I'll be at nearly 700-800 sq ft of product on a small Miata, a truck or big SUV will surely take much more.

Overall, I am very satisfied with Dynamat Extreme. My attempt was to quite the road noise in my Jeep Wrangler with 39” mud tires. After many wheeling trips having to wear hearing protection (especially driving back from Moab to the east coast) and trying to save what little hearing I have left, I decided to try Dynamat and reinstall the carpeting and see if the dB level goes down significantly, maybe even enough to be able to hear the radio and CB while moving at highway speeds. So far, I am impressed with the results. They are not spectacular but there was a lot of noise to knock down. For Jeep owners who might be considering buying Dynamat, here is what I did as an example. I pulled the floor mats and seats then installed it from the firewall back to the rear gate. I overlapped a bit on the firewall, tunnel, front floor boards, and rear fender wells, and also cut out around the drain plugs and taped them off. I reinstalled the factory carpet, front to rear, and will just deal with pulling it and spraying out the mud and dirt once in a while. I reinstalled the factory plastic pieces near the back of the gate (2015 Jeep) but I used a lot of scrap pieces to stick to the backside of the plastic to deaden the hollow, cheap sound. This actually worked really well! I have MOPAR half doors which sound pretty hollow, especially with the factory plastic interior pieces. I disassembled the doors and lined as much as I could on the outer skin of the door, then stuffed a lot of Pelican case pick and pull foam that I cut to fit snuggly inside the door, especially across the “safety bracing” inside the center of the door. After that, I lined the rest of the exposed metal areas of the inner door skin and also stuck the scrap pieces to the plastic interior piece, specifically around the handle area and in the lower section of the rear door panels (you’ll see what I mean when you disassemble the door). All of this on the doors made a dramatic change in the door clunkiness and made another significant change in the road noise level. Additionally, when I close the doors now it sounds way smoother and will make you question whether you closed it hard enough to latch shut. Knocking on the outside of the doors sounds much more dense. For a four door JK, I used two nine packs of 18”x32” Dynamat and two rolls of tape. I ran out of tape and used aluminum tape that one would use on an HVAC unit, I just cut the two-inch tape into one-inch wide strips to finish the job. As I mentioned earlier, I did overlap a little, but not very much so I would definitely suggest two boxes for a four door Jeep. As for the radio quality improvement (taking into consideration the NON-Alpine stereo and soft upper half doors) the stereo sounds surprisingly better while parked. The volume at 20 is clearer and louder than it was at 28 before. On the road doing 60 mph, I can actually hear the radio clearly at 18 and it sounds good at 22-24. Before installing the Dynamat, the volume at 22-24 was overpowered by the tire, wind, and road noise. We are going on a wheeling trip this weekend, so I am hoping that I will be able to hear my CB on the highway! In summary, I am satisfied with the results for my purpose. I have no doubt that someone with a normal car who is looking to quite road noise and improve stereo sound would be especially satisfied and impressed with the change.

My 2004 Honda Civic had some rattles, but mainly suffered due to the thin metals in the trunk and door areas. Despite installing new speakers and a powered sub (an Infinity Basslink), my music really sounded muffled, with a metallic tinge and a lack of mids (especially in songs with vocals). Driving on the freeway always meant turning the volume up, which made the music louder but didn't help in terms of quality. I tried stuffing the area behind the rear wheel wells (on the sides of the trunk) with foam, but that didn't help much. I bought two of these bulk packs back in January but didn't have the time to put them in until late July. I didn't use a heat gun, but did set the sheets outside in the sun for a bit before using them (which did help make the adhesive stickier). I used some odd things (scissors, a chisel to push down on hard to reach areas, the rounded handle of a screwdriver) as well as an old wooden roller, which is basically a necessity if you want the Dynamat to go on evenly and look smooth. I planned to Dynamat the trunk, rear deck, all four doors and under the rear seat area. Taking out all of the lining, popping out the door panels, etc. took a while, but as I had done it before it wasn't difficult. I eventually also Dynamatted parts of the center console and even under the steering column and glove box. It's recommended to use denatured alcohol to wipe down the metals beforehand, but I just used rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Application is pretty straightforward, but unlike most people, I didn't totally cover the surface of every area, just the majority of it. In other words, the trunk is mostly covered but the rear deck and doors just have patches of Dynamat in certain areas. After scouring many forums, I learned that Dynamat is mainly for vibration dampening and a little goes a long way, so I cut a lot of strips and squares for the doors. Also, certain parts of the car had a secondary metal that was much thicker and didn't really need matting. Conversely, a lot of the plastic trim is thin, so I used Dynamat on their insides (including the insides of those door panels). I ended up using around a box and a half of Dynamat in the end, and plan on using the rest on the ceiling (and/or under the front seats) in the future. I was skeptical in the beginning, but wow, it really did make a difference in terms of sound! You've probably read that your trunk, doors, etc will now sound heavier and denser, and that's true. The real treat is how much better my music sounds. I can actually hear the vocals loud and clear now, and the sub hits a lot harder. I actually had to fine tune my equalizer and reduce the gain on the sub a bit to even things out, but it's definitely an acoustic improvement. I was thinking about buying an amp or two but now I don't need to! The only negative I found was that sometimes when peeling the paper backing off, it will tear and you'll have to dig into the adhesive to get at what's left behind. Another thing to note is that the Dynamat adds weight to your car. I'm not sure how much it is, maybe 50-60lbs for two packs like this...which doesn't sound like a lot but is noticeable once you get back on the road.

Readers; This real review from an EV owner/driver. Thus: I own a 2019 Kia NIRO, BEV. As with all EVs they are quiet [amoung other positive traits]. In this EV the Company chose to cut costs by not soundproofing much of the rear of the EV. If the have/must/want to, this is the CORRECT way. The rear under floor of the cargo bay is, in essence, a big, hollow, steel drum. The noise is noticeable to the discerning ear. So, I bought some of these mats. Once to hand, I took out ALL the panels and parts in the rear underfloor- from' taillights to back seats', so it was just bare metal. I went to work sticking panels on all the metal parts. The wheel wells got two layers. Be careful with layers, even one; as any interior foam inserts and the load floor may finish up too high and not be flush with other parts.. I also took off the plastic panel from the rear hatch door{ its not hard, they use clips, BUT buy the plastic tool removal set, a screwdriver will get up in trouble.] and padded that as well. Then under the EV to do a flock of screw removal of the rear plastic 'skid plate'. That item was also covered. I had some left over, so I hunted up places to put that as well. No point to throwing it out. Now, the results---the otherwise quiet EV is even MORE silent than before. On a good road, I can hear the movement of the two metal parts that comprise the bobble headed 'moose' that is the car's mascot; click and move. So, if you want soundproofing that works, with no side effects [read up on the different types of sound proofing, its a surpize] this is the item to buy.

I have a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme FE3, it was loud inside going down the road on road trips and it would get to me after several hours, it was about as loud as being in a jet driving at 75mph. I've used this product in the past with great results, I was installing a crazy sound system in the car so I kind of went overboard with the Dynamat. I ended up putting 3 layers in the trunk, deck lid, floor, roof and door skins, 2 layers on the door panels, pillars, and fire wall. The car is very tight now, you can feel a huge difference when you drive and the sound difference is HUGE! Along with putting new door seals in the doors, they go "thud" when you close them, not a "boom" with the sound of a tin can. If you tap the car anywhere that has Dynamat, it's a "thud" v.s. a tinny "boom" with a rattle before. Music seems way louder at highway speeds, I only have to have it up a third as loud to listen at the same volume level as before. It was well worth the time and effort to completely gut my car interior and roll out the Dynamat, it was a big project that took several days and had several cuts on my hand from the foil on the Dynamat. I've used other brands in the past, they may be cheaper but I haven't found one that works as good as this. It will not work as good when it's below freezing or well above 90 degrees outside. It works best from 65-75 degrees outside. I have been impressed with the sound quality of my audio system with the Dynamat, I have a Cadillac STS V series, my Olds is way quieter on the road now than my Cadillac, it has reduced cabin noise at highway speeds by 60-70%, no more rattles at all with the subwoofer, no more floor or door rattles, I even took the dash apart and lined the inside of the plastic dash and console, WOW was that ever a difference! This stuff will make your econo box quit rattling, get rid of the boomy roaring road noise in the cabin at highway speeds and you will feel the difference as you drive over small bumps and expansion joints on the road. Your Economy car will feel way tighter! My Cadillac is next, I'm curious to how quiet that will be after several layers of Dynamat? It's heavy stuff but the sound difference is worth it to me!

Il risultato di diminuzione del rumore è percettibile già ad orecchio, ma andrebbe verificato precisamente con un fonometro. Tuttavia l’acustica del suono degli speaker è migliorata tantissimo che già con gli altoparlanti di serie il risultato era nettamente superiore. La mia auto è di buona qualità e già abbastanza insonorizzata ma il miglioramento è evidente. Molte meno risonanze alle basse frequenze, un basso più nitido e corposo. Lo consiglio davvero, non avrei immaginato. La spesa è stata alta, ma ne è valsa la pena. Grazie Dynamat

I had never heard about this stuff: I have insulated doors & the boot floor of a Peugeot 107 & it makes a huge difference: It simply insulates your car, cutting out external sound that ruins your stereo listening & making all those rattly thin metal surfaces stop vibrating. It improves motorway driving by making the car quiet and far more relaxing to drive. It takes time to fit, is not cheap and does add weight to the car, but it really is worth it. Why pay for a louder stereo when this makes far more difference.
