Jacob Jensen (Wireless Doorbell)
Here is my story on the Jacob Jensen battery powered doorbell system.I'll start this off by telling what I had before that was a joke.Nutone was the name and I promise you it was a JOKE !!!Crappy construction and the outside door bell ringer/button was pitiful.Talk about junk that was certainly it.At the time years ago it is all I could find so I went with it.It had a single battery that went with the outside door-bell.Inside you simply plugged in the receiver which used the A/C from the house.Sounds good so far, right ???Problem was it would go off on it's own when you used your Microwave.Plus, the junky door bell switch was so cheap it might or might not actually work.Moving right along now with the Jacob Jensen system.Marvelous .....Outstanding ....(1) Construction of both the door bell and receiver are both 1st class.(2) They actually work the 1st time.(3) Very pleasant ringtones, we chose the Oriental tone.I purchased 4-complete units. We live in a two story brick home so needed multiple units.Place one at top of staircase. One downstairs in hallway. We have a bonus room we had converted to a Custom Home Theater. So needed one in it.That took three units and left me with one complete (Spare) system if I ever have a need for it.I am so pleased that this system works every time and has a very pleasant ring tone. The outside door bell is constructed very well as one would hope.It is not going to fall apart.I really also like the BRIGHT Light Bulb you can elect to turn on with the Door Bell Switch.Push the door bell and you can see a Bright Light Bulb going on and off to show it is working. The inside receiver also has the same bulb if you elect to turn it on.I might mention the receivers do come with Alkaline Batteries, (6 of them).I however decided to go purchase before hand the "Lithium" double AA batteries.I think they will last and have Full-Power for the application. It has taken me years to finally find a remote battery door bell system that works. One that is constructed for outside use and looks nice inside as well as the outside door-bell-switch.This is a 1st class system so if you want one that actually works the 1st time and is not like something from Radio Shack this is it.Terry Honaker

Would recommend this to a friend.
This unit is very good looking. It arrived quickly and was in good shape. We had tried several other wireless door bells and all the others were worthless. This unit was easy to get going and to install. The only problem I had was having to take out 4 screws to remove the back from the remote to change the tone. It seems to me it would have made more sense to put this function in the bell unit that has an easy open back. to change the tone I will have to go outside, remove the remote and four screws to open the back to make a change. I really like the ability to add a back door remote with a different tone and I suppose that is why the tone change needs to be in the remote. This unit was not cheap (inexpressive), but it works great.

this is a very nice doorbell. I was pleased with the choice of ...
With the push button and the chime a foot away from each other, this is a very nice doorbell. I was pleased with the choice of chimes, the volume, and the appearance. The push button also seemed to be large enough to cover the area left by my old wired doorbell, which I considered a huge plus. After set up, I followed the instructions and moved the two parts to the locations I planned to install them, one outside my front door and the other perhaps ten yards away in an open hallway. Even with the front door open, I could not get a chime. My daughter and I proceeded to try other spots, with her holding the unit out in front of her and slowly walking toward me for each test. We tried various heights and made sure repeatedly that nothing was obscuring any sensors. Even with the front door open and the unit only a few feet away, we got nothing. We tried resting it on surfaces, propping it up, and every possible position including directly on the other side of the wall from the push button. Nothing. With both parts inside, the maximum range for a reliable chime seemed to be about four feet. Longer than that and we only got a chime about 50% of the time. With the slightest obstruction, such as an open doorway into a hallway, the unit wouldn't work at all. I re-read the instruction manual, used a battery tester to ensure that the brand new batteries I'd just installed in it weren't the culprit, and then waited for my PhD wielding boyfriend to come over and try his luck just in case I was being an idiot and missing something obvious. My daughter, with her teenager's natural affinity for electronics, also had a go. None of us could manage to get it to chime reliably from any distance or with an obstruction, though it continued to work just fine as long as both parts were sitting right next to each other. I'm returning it and going with a different brand. While it's possible that my unit is defective, I don't feel like wasting any more time on the thing.
