Removu REMOVU R1+ (Plus) Waterproof (IPX7) Wireless Remote Viewer and Controller for GoPro

A bit difficult to configure, but after watching a youtube video or two got it working, and it works just fine. Reports battery state of both monitor and camera, lag is the same as with the go-pro app on a phone, and being able to strap it to my wrist frees my hands.

I am using this with two Hero5 Sessions and a Hero3+ Black. It works increadably well. I am using it with the mount that is sold separately on my mountain bike. My only complaint is that I would like to be able to reverse mirror the livestream as I intend to use use one of the Hero5 sessions as a rear view camera.Although everywhere on the internet says this won’t work with the Hero5 Session. I was able to get the R1+ connected with the Hero5 Session. To get it to work I had to download and install the latest firmware (1.2.1) from Removu’s website. Once I did that it was able to connect, livestream, and change settings.

Well I just got my Removu R1 + ... PLEASE no matter what you read or see in Youtube..... ALWAYS make sure to a) have the latest version of firmware on both the GoPro and on the Removu. both are very easy to install. Another important thing. If you feel you have messed up something. remember by the charging plug of the Removu there is a pinhole. this is for total reset. and yes nothing too bad will happen if you slide a thin clip or other pointed utensil . this will allow you to start afresh. Another thing that may be useful.... I did the setup exactly as indicated per instructions , even after firmware updates all around. the Removu had a black screen that read : "Camera Settings" well my dear friends, this just means that you GoPro is in settings mode and thus you cannot see live view. in order to go through the Removu options to reach Live View just press the middle bottun several times until you get to see actual live images........ ahaaaaaaa some of you will say I did that and it did not work for me !!!! well the first time around it did not work for me either. The solution was.... to turn off the Removu and turn it back on. now I was able to automatically see Live view and just for kicks I entered the menus of the Removu to select and change things around .... once I was done.... I wondered how to get back to live view...... so Ahaaaaaa now the center button worked and after a few pushes that changed options... Live View was visible........ I tested the Removu with a 30 shot burst option contrlled all from the Removu.... and alll successful even went back to Play Images to checkout the test shots.... the photos... were a disaster....(my lack of skills, at blame) but Removu R1+ Excelled in performance..... I am taking it to Canada First week of January to test it while skiing.... after that I will update. this company should be ashamed of themselves as I finally got to use this device on a trip to Lisbon and it worked for two hours the first day and never worked again for the next 13 days and destroyed my vacation experience. it paired for the first time and would never pair again and no function on the screen or in the button controls ever worked again. this is awful and this company should be held accountable. I so look forward to using this device but when it doesn't function at all its very frustrating and caused me a great deal of anger and frustration. how dose this company get away with this kind of service and product. I even made sure I purchased the R+ so I would note have these problems. I am so angry at this point as I just arrived home.

So if you have the GoPro Hero 6 don't invest in this product. The controls work but it takes a ton of patience to get it setup. You cannot use the 5ghz range on the Hero 6 so you will have to switch it to the lower setting. Changing the GoPro functions is not very smooth either. You have to press the buttons several times or really hard for it to start recording. If you have the Hero 5 session it sort of works with it.

I'm sure if you have read other reviews, you will find lout this product is HARD to install and get going. and I consdier myself technically inclined. I did have to look up a step-by-step "how to" video to get it to work. Other than that furstration it is worht the price. As an alternativee spending another 4-500 hundred bucks ona new GoPro Hero 5 and getting the NOW available display screen models.

If you're looking for ease of use, or quality, or functionality, choose something else. This product is impossible to use. It does not function well as a remote control, or as a viewer on my Hero Session. The pairing feature is terrible. Following the directions is pointless, as they don't align with the features that appear on the screen. The help menu is nonexistent. When I try to pair the Removu to the camera the PIN does not appear with the "enter" button as advertised, so the camera times out before it can pair. I wish I could go back "Removu" this from my shopping cart. What a waste.

When I opened my box I realized someone has opened it before me. There were just new stickers over the old ones. Setting up is super tedious. pressing the next button to enter the password for my gopro. When i'm in the device setting (NOT my GoPro Settings on this device) the response time is slow. LED indicator is one of those that gives people headaches I recommend covering it when your setting up.

I bought this remote for snorkelling at first I thought it was very difficult to connect to the camera then after reading the instructions in more detail i found you need to connect to the Wi-Fi and not the remote on the camera after that it was a doddle as for snorkelling I've had no problems whatsoever and I've also used it to diving to 90ft signal strength camera to remote was steady and constant 2years later it's still going strong highly recommended

The product is reasonably ok, the interface is a little sluggish with very limited settings and it does not replicate the settings on the camera, unlike the official GoPro remote. For me, the biggest problem is the total lack of customer support from the manufacturer... They have an online contact service, I've used it twice, they never respond! What worries me is the warranty, 18 months, that's great if you can get hold of anyone... So a reasonable product let down by a total lack of customer support... So 4 stars for the product, less 3 stars for the customer support...

This is the second one I have had for skiing, used 1st one on Mountain and battery lasts about 1 hour, I think as built in battery is not lithium it runs out in cold temperature, the second I had was issued by Amazon as a replacement and it will not connect properly and stream the view onto the screen and I have not even managed to use it, its going back also. will use App on Android instead and free.

Bought it a while ago. It works fine although battery is quick and it takes time to set-up and get used to
