A Pokemon Gamer's Best Friend
As the headline implies. This device is really useful for those of us that are veterans to Pokemon of the GB era and want to experiment with our little Pocket Monster friends.Pros:You can edit your Rival's name, or the name of the Hero. (self explanatory)You can edit the items in your inventory. (can get any item and almost as many of that one item you want.)You can edit the number of badges you possess. (self explanatory)You can edit the amount of money you possess. You can edit how long you have been playing the game. And finally the best perk of all, you can edit your monsters. You can alter their stats, alter their nicknames, I.D numbers/OT names, levels and attacks, or alter what kind of monster they are completely. Now you can defy the system and teach a Magikarp Hyperbeam, Dragon Rage, Hydro Pump and Bite, and boost all of it's stats to 999, or create a Venusaur that knows Surf! Or maybe you want something a little more down to earth. Maybe you simply just want a Mew, or some other Legendary. With this you can accomplish that. Just capture any Pokemon, put it in your team, and use the Monster brain to change it into whatever Pokemon you desire! You can also store and restore save data on this, just like a Mega Memory Card. There is also a colorizer option, which edits the colors in the game's graphics. It isn't that great of a perk, and I'm not entirely sure how you activate it, or if it can be made permanent, but it's a fun little feature.Basically it's a Memory Card and a Cheat Device all in one.Cons:There really aren't that many cons to this. Personally I have no issues with this at all. However there are a couple things that may perturb some people.1. You can not input codes. Unlike a Game Shark that enables you the freedom to put in codes to activate different effects, this edits the data in the game instead, and does not rely on codes. It's safer and a lot less complicated then imputing a lengthy code off the internet, but for those that are adventurous and like to experiment it can be limiting.2. It can only store 30 game saves, when the Mega Memory card can store up to 100 game saves.3. This is a fanservice to the Pokemon games only, and does not work for other games. If you install any game cartridge that is not Pokemon, the Monster Brain will not acknowledge it at all. You can store/restore game saves from other games with it, but that is about it. If you were looking for a cheat device that can be used for other games aside from Pokemon, I would look into getting a Game Shark instead.All-in-all, though I think this is a superb device. I've gotten the Pokemon fever again, and have been playing the old GBC games. Thanks to this device, I have been able to store my save data so that I could safely replace the old batteries in them without losing the data, and have had fun taking advantage of the features it has to offer. It's great for competitive purposes as well as just messing around and seeing what kind of results you can get with your monsters. Just the memory-saving feature alone makes it a boon, especially when you compare it's price to that of a Mega Memory card.If you are a Pokefan, I recommend this to you 100%. You will not regret it.

This thing is awesome! It does exactly what I wanted (I got ...
Alright let me break this down because other reviewers are confusing buyers on what this product actually can do. This product is for GBC games ONLY (it does not take GBA games, but it can be used on a GBA console [Orignal GBA or SP, doesn't matter, both will work]. That's what the yellow sticker on the package means by saying "Also works with new GBA".The Monster Brian has multiple functions which include:-Storing game files from any GBC game that has a SAVE FUNCTION (it wont save games that cant save themselves in the first place)-Cheat codes for any GEN 1 or GEN 2 Pokemon (This is the biggest confusion I have seen on here about what it can do. People are saying that it only can do cheats for Gen 2 Gold Version and Silver Version. This is incorrect information and I have tested it myself. It will apply cheats to Red Version, Blue Version, Yellow Version, Silver Version, Gold Version, and Crystal Version. [it even says so on the package in the picture].-It has a Colorizer button function on it (press the button on it and it will reboot. once at the main menu start the game and it will play the game in a completely different color. I haven't tested all the colors yet but there are a lot of different variations.)-No battery is required for the games you store on it. As long as you take care of your monster brain your games should be saved on there for many many years and never erase. My personal thoughts on this product:This thing is awesome! It does exactly what I wanted (I got it to store game files and not fear losing my saved games once the batteries on them drain dry. The fact that it can apply cheats to gen 1 and 2 Pokemon is just a bonus). Price is good, I read that some people got it for $10, I got it for $15 but that's fine. If you aren't in a rush to get one though maybe wait till it goes on sale down to $10? Overall this is an awesome buy and a must have for any retro gaming enthusiast.

What cheats?
I wanted this to extract the game saves from my old GBC games and put them onto my emulator on my computer, and it worked! You'll need a separate GBC cartridge that supports micro USB to put it on your computer. But I never got the cheats to work with it and it's not even in English... I had to translate what the text said when I turned it on.

A Pokémon-exclusive GameShark that Copies Save Files
I bought this product for two reasons:1. It is essentially a GameShark, but for Pokémon specifically, and does many things that you are able to do with a GameShark on Pokémon games, as well as a few things you cannot do on one, such as editing the color a of the Generation 1 Pokemon games.2. This is a device that can hold copies of all Generation 1 and 2 Pokémon games’ save data, so if you need to, say, change the save battery in Gold, Silver, or Crystal, this device can hold a copy of your game(s)’s save data before doing so, then you can re-upload it to the game afterwards. You will not have to worry about losing your Save Data on older Pokémon games (pre-Generation 3) if you decide to buy this.Overall, if you are a fan of Generation 1 and 2 Pokémon games, and wish to keep your Save data, the buy the Monster Brain. Unlike a GameShark, though, you cannot enter new codes, but it is otherwise completely worth purchasing. One thing to note, is that this product’s price seems to occasionally spike up as time goes on, so make sure if you’re going to buy this, do not wait until it reaches absurd prices, such as $100 or more.
