What are the overall dimensions of these boxes? I am wondering how much deadspace there would be in my ammo cans

If you are referring to MTM 40/45/10MM Cal 100 Round Flip-Top Ammo Box dimensions are 5 5/8 X 6 1/8 X 1 7/16. I agree with Kevin the 6 inches is due to the clasp and hinges sticking out from the case. This makes the case last a life time. You can put 7 in the AC-50C 50 Cal Ammo boxes. They are the greatest when you go to the gun range. The dead space will be 1 1/4, but the convenience makes up for the dead space.

Will this box fit AA Batteries?

No the compartments don't appear large enough. It is definitely not deep enough for a AA; possibly a AAA.

Is there is any room for desiccant packs in here when its fully loaded?

I use mine with .40 S&W and there is about 1/8" between the cartridge and lid. You could probably fit a small desiccant pack in there without any problems.
