J-B Weld FiberWeld Permanent Repair Cast

This really is a permanent fix for small to large things. About 7 years ago I used it on a telescoping poop scoop that was too loose. I wet the wrap and applied it. It has stayed outdoors in New England for close to a decade, and it's rock solid. Last summer we got a wind storm and our patio umbrella toppled, damaging the metal stem, making it lean precariously. I had my wife prop it up more vertically, and I wrapped it. The heavy 15-foot umbrella has kept vertical ever since!

This definitely makes a permanent fix when completely cured. Used it for a snapped off vacuum handle. It basically hardens to a solid and doesn’t budge. Be careful with the resin, if you’re messy, it will get all over the place and it’s hard to remove.

It does what it says! I used it for one of the arms on my patio umbrella. The wind tipped it over and completely broke an arm. I was tempted to just purchase a new umbrella, due to trying many unsuccessful fix-it attempts. And then I found this… It comes sealed, with gloves and instructions. I didn’t need the whole roll and was able to cut in half. Suggestion: If you want to cut it, I suggest for you to get some scissors that you’re willing to discard afterwards. This product can be a little messy/sticky until it cures, so be very careful. It took less than a half hour to dry, but I wanted to be completely sure and decided to let it sit overnight. Outcome: It dried like a very thick piece of metal. I tried to save the other piece but I’m guessing once air hits it, it activates the product, so it was no good. Saying this product is as hard as metal/steel is an understatement. It has saved me a lot money and what little aggravation I had left. I highly recommend this product and would definitely be using this again.

Be sure you're not tired when you use this product. I was exhausted but determined, and therefore forgot to use the outer wrap to seal. That's what creates a beautiful molded shape around the leak. Now the leak is concentrated and spewing like a geyser because it wasn't wrapped properly. Without a tight winding of the outer wrap, the inner wrap can't set snugly. The inner wrap also hardens to damn near impenetrable very quickly, so now I have to freeze it off with refrigerant because I 'd have to use a power saw to cut through the layers and no doubt straight through the PVC. J.B. Weld ain't kidding with the efficiency of this product. Just be sure you're well-rested and follow the instructions to the letter!

Worked great to repair a broken plastic housing on a vacuum cleaner. Great product. Be sure to follow instructions. I used the technique mentioned by a previous reviewer of covering the fiberglass material with paper towels to hold it in place while it was setting. That worked well.

Good stuff, really pretty stiff after it cures. For example: I fixed a hockey stick with this. It held up to putting my 250lbs of weight into my slap shot. It actually ended up breaking in a different place after that. I was pretty impressed by that. A bit heavy and cumbersome on a hockey stick to actually use in a game though. Not recommended unless you’re really short on money like I was then. Lol

Fiberweld acquired this product from Fiberfix a few years ago. The first year they just changed the dimensions. After that they drastically reduced the quality and strength of this item. What used to be a fairly solid wrapping, is now a horrendous sloppy mesh. Imagine making paper mache art in elementary school, layering sopping wet blobs of newspaper and glue onto an art project. This stuff is basically the same, and only a little stronger. The ends are frayed and strings unravel from them. It cant grip anything to save its life, and unravels as you wrap farther up whatever you're fixing. The old after-wrap plastic strip that used to be included was replaced with a sort of stretchy fabric. This fabric piece folds over on itself horribly, and the fiberglass part foams and bubbles up like that spray can insulation foam. That traps the fabric wrap. If you take it off before a certain time, the fiberweld loosens up, ruining your project with a weak bond. If you wait too long, it bonds to the fabric and you cant take it off and it's now permanently part of your project. There is no perfect inbetween time, it's one or the other. The gloves included are also horrible, too small and they break too easily. I'm not some novice at this product either, I've used it and its predecessor probably close to 100 times. Absolutely do not purchase this product unless Fiberweld discontinues it and brings back the old one. I ordered the automotive specific ones to give them a try, but last time I did that they sent me these ones instead and I returned them. The white one is a little better, it has all the same flaws but not to the extremity of this one.

I have a shovel where the plastic handle cracked. I was surprised that replacements were not available for a well made shovel with a not as well made plastic handle. Other suggestions did not work. This repair cast did work. I've been using the shovel for most of the gardening season. I recommend.

Carbon fibre bike fork broke, I didn't feel like a DIY carbon fibre repair, and I found this stuff and watched many videos online. It is easy to work with and sets ridiculously strong, I ended up looping electrical tape over it for a neater finish. My bike has been relegated to indoor trainer duties - but I'd be confident riding it at low speeds outdoors, if I really had to in an emergency. Not a bad thing to have in your back pocket, toolkit or car, because who knows when it might come in handy.

I purchased this product with high expectations but let down badly. Costly product in relation to similar products and they are cheaper, for instance I used a Aldi brand with great results and cheaper . I thought I'd buy a product much dearer in price and turned into a dismal failure ! Very disappointed on all fronts, Price and product! I should ask for a refund or give me a product that'll work. unfortunately sometimes the dearest doesn't mean the best and this is now . I've never written a bad review but I'm so disappointed with the product and the cost .
