I was very disappointed
The game has heavy graphics requirements. You will need a modern GPU to get the kind of gameplay you want. My Nvidia 8600gt struggled immensily to make it work. In the end I could not motivate myself to play more than just a few times. I am sure this game will garner a following with those who have modern PCs and who like network gaming. At the prices you can get it for these days, if you have any incling of wanting to play it then why not. There are clearly enough good reviews to warrant giving it a try at a cheap price. The singleplayer mode however does not seem very challenging. As with any new RTS one needs a reason to learn the different units and thus have a chance to see how strategy could evolve in gameplay. But there was no tutorial or writeup available with this kind of information of starting hints. Unlike StarCraft2 for example where there is an overload of beta games viewable online where strategies based on differing units is discussed, there is no AHA material for this game that sparks interest. This I believe is the biggest reason why I did not bother to learn the game. I saw nothing that motivated me to do so. Perhapes this is a good lesson for future RTS development teams to learn; that a game team needs to demonstrate different strategies for their game so that potential players can get excited about it. Hail Flavius!

A borring Dota clone
I had some high hopes for this game initially but was underwhelmed. I didn't care for this as much as I hoped I would. It's not a bad product and you may enjoy it more than I did but I can't give it a great rating. I recommend League of Legends over this Dota clone.

Probably best as multiplayer
I tend to play games in the genres RTS (real time strategy) and RPG (roll playing games). I picked this game up because of reviews I read in PC Gamer magazine. I also tend to play games in single person (i.e. against PC A.I. and not against another human player). This game is similar to but not exactly a RTS, and has some RPG elements. The game I have played that is closest to it in feel is Stardock's "Sins of a Solar Empire". In both games you have many cheap units and one (or a few) few ultra powerful that gain experience and special powers. Although this game does have both skirmish and tournament modes that you can play against the computer, I feel it is designed primarily for those who like to play vs. other human players. It doesn't have a single player campaign. I used the skirmish mode to get a feel for the different characters, and had fun playing my favorite character (the Rook) in tournament mode. Unfortunately, without a single player campaign, the game doesn't have enough variation or depth to keep me interested for longer than about a day or so. It's not that the game was uninteresting, it's just that the A.I. lacks the depth of play you would probably get when playing another person. Although you can set different A.I. difficulty levels in skirmish, you can't change the A.I. "personalities" like in Sins, where you could choose defensive or offensive A.I.s. My rating of the game is based on my singleplayer experience. I would probably rate it much higher as a multiplayer game if I played that sort of game. The game is well designed, just not the sort of game I prefer.

Accurate Review of Demigod
Demigod has been receiving a lot of overly positive and negative reviews due to various factors. I am writing to set a few things straight from my experiences since the games release. Graphics: 9.5/10 Top notch graphics that run decently on moderate machines, but a few very minor glitches here and there. Gameplay: 9/10 Very fun, fast paced, strategy oriented with RPG elements. Sound: 10/10 Music and sound effects are phenomenal. UI/Controls: 8.5/10 Menu UI needs a bit of help, but controls are simple and intuitive. Multiplayer: Currently 5/10, but once servers are fully operational 8/10. Ease of Use (Install & Play): 7/10 until a few more patches are released. Online Bugs: Currently 3/10 as about 30% of people are able to play fine. These will be fixed over time, but for now it is as it is. Engine Bugs: 9/10 (very few issues once a match is going) Balance: 9/10 Surprisingly well balanced for a release. It is important to note that this game is NOT single player based and does not claim to be. It has single player tournament and skirmish modes (which act like a tutorial), but the game is meant as a multi-player experience. Some back story on the release of this game is needed in order to gain some perspective on why the online experience suffers in its infancy. Stardock (publisher) had orders with multiple retailers. One of which was Gamestop. Gamestop asked Stardock if they could release Demigod before the street date release. Stardock said no and in response, Gamestop cut their orders by 2/3rds. Further, Gamestop broke release date anyway which resulted in a fair number of people having the game 5 days earlier then expected (over a holiday weekend no less). So Stardock has been playing catchup ever since. To make matters worse, pirates have been overloading their servers by attempting to log into them causing massive slow down for everyone. Now yes these are the companies problems to have to deal with, but Stardock has been phenomenal in dealing with these issues AND keeping the customer base informed. These issues are, in fact, only temporary so the games quality and review should not be negatively impacted by opening week jitters. So, long story short, this is an excellent online multi-player strategy game that has a few release problems that are temporary and being worked on. It is not a single player game any more then unreal tournament, Left 4 Dead, or a whole slue of other games that focus on multi-player while having single player elements. If you like well balanced, fun, strategy games, you will like this game. Do not count its currently online state against the game as all current issues are temporary due to unforeseen problems and unethical behavior on the parts of certain retailers and people who are not purchasing the game. Overall Demigod is a great strategy game and weaves RPG elements into its matches nicely.

Demigod is an awesome multiplayer game!
During our LANParties that we have once a month, Demigod is one of our favorites. Whether it's two vs two or five vs five, this game is a lot of fun! It's easy to learn how to play for newbies, and we play it for hours. You can use your game key for another multiplayer installation, so my wife and I share a single game key. The online multiplayer interface could use some improvement for matchmaking, but other than that I don't have any other complaints. The AI can get very predictable during a single player game, but Demigod is one of the best multiplayer RPG/Strategy games around!
