Yes, but I water it down good immediately after putting down the fertilizer. It will burn the grass if you don't water it good and immediately. I put mine down about 7:00 p.m. so the water doesn't evaporate so fast.

My husband did not prepare soil correctly when he was patching 2 holes so the grass seed we planted is not doing well. Will this help?

No, Scotts Turf Builder won't cause weeds. If you didn't do any rototilling first, that is your problem. I don't have weeds in mine because of rototilling first, and then putting down sod. The grass is really coming on now.
