pricier than most but, best i have gotten so far (hopefully the last one needed)
pic shows no brand name on unit but, my unit says 'powerpure' on top front of it.description says unit can maintain a 35-45% humidity but, my unit does not go down pass 40%.description says 'ultra-quiet' but, the constant water gurgling & water dripping like noise make it not so ultra-quiet, unit noise itself however is on the quiet side so far for sure and unlike other units, i do love that this unit automatically stops when the mist stops.blue light shuts off when mist stops. tank is dark but, when blue light is on you can clearly see the water level in tank.Unit i received is the most accurate of units i have bought but, compared to my humidity only by 2-3% (on high side) and that often fixes itself after unit runs for a bit. temp wise unit is off by 3 max (on lower side).only been using this for about a week so not much to report about its lifespan/etc. it works for my needs (bedroom nightstand) and does not keep me awake so it is great to me.because mist tends to stay near unit and instead of blowing outwards away from itself, it blows more upwards with mist falling down towards it and about 2ft max away, there is no way this unit will humidify 700 square feet at a level setting you choose. it may if unit constantly runs but, like i found out when i accidentally left it on auto for about an hour when turning it back on, you will end up with a watery mess around unit area! unit will need to be on a towel or something that soaks up water!!for my bedroom nightly need, this unit is great and my favorite by far. it is stylish, on quiet side so far (running wise, water noise is kinda loud but, kinda relaxing to hear like one of them noise machines to help you fall asleep) and it puts out quite a bit of mist even on level 3. i am happy with it and am keeping fingers cross that this unit will last for more than one year (even though i use distilled water only, the other brands didn't even last a year each).CON:- handle on top but, no handle/groove area on bottom of unit refill tank to help you flip tank back over after refilling it. Also have a small towel handy for flipping tsnk over to refill it results in collected mist water dripping out of mist hole.- no option to choose mist level when unit is not set to auto!! you are stuck with mist level 3 (there are 5 in total) when you choose to set a humidity level for unit to maintain room at. At $180, the option to choose a simple mist level when not using auto feature should be an option period!!-have not used warm mist so no clue how well it works.-also have no clue if the Ion setting actually works, i notice no difference nor any smell like i get from my ionizer machine downstairs. also ionozer only works when mist is blowing.update: figured out how to make mist go up and outwards instead of blowing semi upwards and dropping back down, i covered up the second small mist spout.. i gather why there is two mist spouts so you can have mist go in two directions but, the forced mist air from the two interferes with the mist direction..not a fan of this double mist now!

pretty good intermediate not for children
This device is a good choice for the consumer looking to get commercial results with the price of a low-mid entry product. For about 1/5th the price of a commercial humidifier I am pretty happy with the vapor produced and the accuracy of the controls. Produces a nice amount of water vapors and has a good read out. It has an attractive blue glow that is good on the eyes and not too bright. I put the unit up on a three foot tall side table to ensure accuracy of the hydrometer. The heater is adequate and I do like the ion effect for reducing allergens. It does have a special technology for keeping the tank water clean so I am hoping that maintenance will be lower than a drugstore entry level unit? Now for the problems: the child safety lock is a joke, they put it on one side of the unit still making it possible for a child to pinch their fingers between the water vessel and the appliance body. Also if a child was to knock it over the lock would most likely release anyway and the unit would still come apart in a most dangerous way. The remote is similar to other remotes we use in the house so when we adjust the machine using the remote other lights and devices turn on and off rampantly. The photo is of the water vessel carrying handle which snapped off suddenly while lifting the 3/4 empty container for the refill. It appeared to have been glued on and the steam must of dissolved the glue because it separated rather than breaking? In general the vessel is OK but not real great for refilling; it has to be removed and carried over to the sink, it's ok but would be nice if there was a way to fill it from a pitcher too. You tend to spill water around while removing it and then also need to crank on the filler neck threads to remove the cap. Thanks, it is doing the job in our winter months of adding moisture to the room automatically.

Solid Performer.
The looks, output, and options of this unit are ridiculously fantastic. It is extremely well-engineered.We have a 2800 square foot home of finished space above grade, plus an additional large 1200 square foot basement that is passively de/humidified by central air . To supplement the Crane "tear drop" humidifiers we have in our kids rooms in the dry months, we recently purchased this device to work along with a new whole house evaporative wick humidifier on the first floor whose purpose is to hit common areas with humidity. So it's easy for me to compare the Power Pure 5000 against those units. We use it in our 700 square-foot master bedroom suite which is exactly what this unit is rated for in square-footage. Our master bedroom is easily the fastest room to humidify room in the house when we have all the units cranking and all the doors closed.Upon delivery, I pulled this out of the box and powered it up around 4pm on a very cold, dry day. House humidity was at 27%. Settings were full output, warm mist, de-ionize (which helps smother nasties out of the air like the filter on an evaporative wick). That night my wife and I decided to retire and watch TV in bed around 9pm. A couple hours later, we noticed no more cracked knuckles, itchy legs, or dry coughs (we hadn't been using any humidifier in the house yet). Our skin felt like a baby's behind too! I refilled the unit before going to sleep and kept it on the high setting. The following morning I had a 48% humidity reading on a separate hygrometer from across the room and the reservoir was empty.Love the fact that there is zero upkeep costs on this bad boy and that is whisper quiet. You will here gentle water gurgling from time to time. How often depends on your output level. The matted plastic is very nice to touch, and the controls and display are gorgeous. The remote is cool too but I don't bother using it.Some other review complained that the water level is hard to see but I didn't find that to be the case at all, even in a dark room there is blue/red led light in the reservoir that provides sufficient lighting. The reservoir light emits a gentle light, and the display stays on at all times when the unit is in, but is easy on the eyes when the room is dark, is not at all noticeable if you close your eyes to sleep. I wouldn't place this unit right by your bedside and face that way to sleep however.I wouldn't bother using the auto function. Like every other humidifier with a hygrometer on the cord, you are going to get an abnormally high reading which is unavoidable. My advice would be to go by the humidity reading on your thermostat or use an ACCURITE hygrometer like me and want to avoid condensation on the windows while running the unit constantly. I would simply use the lowest output setting as that is plenty enough. If you run on high output, the top of the unit will sweat simply because of the voluminous amount of mist this thing will put out. This is perhaps my only real complaint, is that one time I noticed a droplet run over the control panel which caused a control adjustment. The control panel is sensitive. A rare occasion and my fault for having the blasting the unit on high for too long. With that said, its good idea to have this unit off the floor and on a elevated countertop with a tray underneath it to protect your furniture. Also if you plan on using this extensively, I would consider buying at least a small-output reverse osmosis system to attach underneath a sink in your kitchen/laundry/utility room and use the de-mineralized water from that and avoid the white dust that everybody complains about with ultrasonic humidifiers. A simple but quality parts generic system, one that comes with a compressed air tank for storing water under pressure, should be had around $100-$150 off eBay. They are surprisingly easy to install as well. Its sounds like a big and unecessary investment until you realize what else you could use R.O. water for: coffee/espresso makers, refrigerator ice makers, amazing iced tea, pressure washers, not to mention home-brewed beer -- but I digress. It can otherwise be a harsh trade off between mineral dust or the sound of an airplane cabin ventilation system with a evaporative wick humidifier near your sleeping areas. There is no pat solution.I would strongly recommend for a large bedroom, a smaller upper floor, apartment, or a closed off den/living room for watching TV in comfort.
