Instructions would help!
So, I read the reviews here, and worried. I wish the makers of the product would have put instructions in with the tool, but since they didn't, and since I found this SUCH A GREAT TOOL, I thought I'd write out how I used it. The tool has two working parts, the cutter and the crimper.1. Take out the tiny bolt you'll see sticking through the plunger. You'll find it right below the markings that look like a ruler. This allows you to open the tool so it's usable.2. Hold the tool so that the ruler is on top. The piece that has the ruler is the piece that cuts the hole in the cloth. I was able to (even with arthritic hands) to punch through at least 4-6 layers of cloth. Of course, the more layers, the harder it is to punch.3. Once the hole is punched through, put the brass grommet into the hole in the cloth. You'll want the straight part of the grommet to go through to the back of your cloth.4. Now, look closely at the other working part of the tool itself, the one at the very front, what I call the crimper. The top has a straight peg, while the bottom has a peg with a slanted edge. The straight peg goes on the front (top) of your work, where the nice rounded finished part of your grommet is. When you use it this way, a relatively gentle squeeze will give you a clean crimp of your grommet every time.I hope this helps other folks use this tool. I used it to put grommets in the top of a very large set of draperies, and then wanted to find other things to use it on. I'm totally sold on this little tool. I can only suspect that the people who didn't have a good experience with it, didn't know how to use it, because there are no instructions. Good luck!

great tool!!
ok, i have some severe issues w/my hands SOMETIMES, bad arthritis, no grip strength, just thngs like that, so my husband has to use this for me! thats no reflection on the tool, however, as he usually has to even use my hole punch for one piece of paper, its my hands!! this baby is great!! so far WE, my husband w/my guidance, has punched holes & placed eyelets in any material i can think of, most especially different wts of chipboard which is y i ordered it, i make books & needed a good heavy duty punch/eyelet setter, this is it!! i have used it once to punch chipboard & it was effortless, i just wanted all to know if u do have issues w/hands it may be difficult, but again, i dont see that as problem w/tool, and my friend who has similar issues is the one who recommended this tool for me! we gave it 5 stars because it earned them in my book room!! i would buy this again but im sure it will last me forever!! i have already recommended this product, and this seller, to others! the seller was very conscientious & emailed us to make sure we got it, we got it on time & in great shape!! we love it & have already used it so much i cant tell u how many times! i love amazon & most of their sellers & products!! this is y, i get what i need when i need it!!!

99 Grommets
The grommet plier and grommets worked for my project. However, there were only 99 grommets, not 100 and it requires a lot more grip force to fully press the grommet than other pliers I have used in the past.Instruction pictures on the page were very helpful though!

Just my opinion, but looks pretty flimsy and difficult to apply.
Just my opinion, but looks pretty flimsy and difficult to apply. Bought these to stop eyelet holes in my sports shoes from tearing through, but they are so thin and look so flimsy, and I don't trust the "curling" action of the forceps to do a good job of spreading out the straight side of the eyelet. I'm keeping it just in case I do find a need that doesn't require great strength or accurate hole coverage.

I am Impressed
I wanted a tool to do grommets. I saw this on Amazon and ordered it. Upon receiving it I was really surprised by the quality of the tool. It was well made and balanced. Metal circlips were used in assembly rather than rounding over the pins ends. The tool was is easy to use and really does a nice job installing rivets. I would recommend this tool to anyone wanting a quality grommet tool. Any negatives? for packaging and shipping a small pin was placed in the punch shaft to keep the jaws closed. Not really being visible and took a couple of minutes to figure how to unsecure the jaws for use. I like the idea for storage but the tiny pin could be a little more obvious/identifiable. I made my pwn pin to easily keep the grommet jaws closed for storage. Excellent grommet tool for the price.

Makes a perfect eyelet set - easy to use
Makes a perfect eyelet set - easy to use, simple, splays the eyelet perfectly. The throat of the plier set will allow me to set eyelets at 1/4 inch, and 1/2 inch, in from the edge. I can set at 3/4 inch, but I have to curl the fabric/leather edge a bit. It could probably set at 1 inch, if the fabric were flexible enough to curl back on itself. I'm still using a hammer and set for the eyelets in the center of my work (about 7 inches in from the edge). I added a padded layer for the top of the eyelet set so the painted eyelets are unmarred, other than that, no changes. There is a tiny black pin that comes in the pliers to keep them closed, I've kept that so I can store the tool in its original plastic, if you loose it, just use a paperclip.

Get what you pay for
These were cheap so I can’t really complain too much.First thought out of the package was “uh oh what’s this little piece go to?” I still have no clue but they seem to work regardless.I don’t know if it’s the eyelets or the pliers but I have yet to get a neatly pressed grommet. They don’t seem to split properly in the back but I suppose we can live with that. The pliers don’t seem to be entirely lined up straight which might also be part of the “neatness” issue.Over all they are decent for the price. There is a little measurement device on the hole punch so that you can insure you line things up the same each time. The hole punch seems to punch well.We will use these for our wedding invitations and then they will likely collect dust in a cupboard.

Seems well made, but does not handle any but the thinnest of belts ...
Not quite what it seems. The product description talks about this product being good for belts, but it neglects to mention that it means really skinny belts. It could put holes only 1/3 of the distance from the edge of my normal sized men's belt. So if you want to make holes only about a half inch in, buy it by all means. It seems like an extremely well made product, but alas, I had to return it ...
