Workman HP201S - a better meter
I started out with the little SWR-3P model meter. If you desire something very small to fit in area in a car or where ever ... this is the one. But it was confusing in operation and there were no instructions. I called the help number and a lady answered (I think she was eating or watching tv). I explained my problem. She asked again which model. I told her the model and described it. Her answer: "I don't remember that one ... let me go get my papers." It took a minute and I could hear rustling noises then she was back and asked again what I needed to know. I explained that both meters had an SWR scale but they didn't read the same in the reflected mode. I needed to know which one to use. Answer: "Oh you just use the meter on the right, the left meter is just for power." A brief set of instructions could have made life much easier but problem solved and I moved on.The HP201S came with instructions. The one meter was logical and could be seen without lights, eyeglasses, or magnifiers. It can also be used on other HF radios (ham 10 meters for example). The instructions said CB and 10 meters only but an SWR meter is not a tuned circuit and should work from 80 meter CW to 10 meter phone. The meter works well and I am happy with it. ... Mark

Good inexpensive reliable meter.
Good inexpensive power meter. I've had this meter for over a year and never had an issue with it. Keep in mind that this is a peak or PEP power meter so it's not capable of showing average power. It's also not a thousand dollar meter. What it is though is a good solid meter that gives a fairly accurate reading. For the price it can't be beat!

great meter
I expected a meter of meduim/good (in my opinion) quality that works generally well for my needs. The components that it's assembled from are of a good quality and I've been using it for about two months in-line with my mobile setup. Its been tested with power too ....each range seems to read where expected ......the 1000 watt scale barely moving .....as I didnt teat it with much real power .Its great for my level of testing.

Works okay, but...
The first one I received the needle was stuck. Returned. Tried again. The 2nd one the front panel was on half-way, hanging away from the case on one side, where the assembly screw did not go through the attachment hole in the plastic of the front panel. Removed screws, reassembled and it works. Obviously, China quality control problems! It does function ok now. You aren't going to get the accuracy of more expensive meters, but it does the job fairly well for the price, which is the only reason I gave it a second chance.

This is a PEP meter where the needle moves while you talk - useful for some testing
I bought this meter because I only had a cheaper 'average power' SWR meter. I needed a meter like this so I could set my transmit power by turning transformer slugs inside the radio. This way you can see where your peak power is in regard to your transformer settings. I couldn't do that with my average power meter because the needle mostly stayed in the same place. This is the sort of power meter you want if you want to see the difference between your dead key power and your 'swing' as they say. It's also the cheapest meter of this sort I could find online which is why I bought it. The light up feature is OK but I find it weird to care much about it since the meter itself doesn't need any power to do what it does. It's nice to have it as an option. My meter seems to be accurate and the cord to wire the light up in your car came with mine. So it was a good purchase for me. I replaced the two LED lights with warmer colored ones to give the yellow face on the meter a better color. I already used the meter to peak the transmitters in three different radios last night.

needs to be powered for accurate readings, calibration didnt show any power from my radio till i turned on the power source.
very nice swr power meter, shows power accurately thru all the power settings. swr is accurate to what i see on my cobra 142 gtl itself, lol. shows a nice 1:1.2 match :) the front of the case was hanging forward a bit, but it was easy to get back in.

Bought as a temp, received broken, died in a month
After being out of the hobby for 20 years, I decided to buy an economical setup including a Uniden 78, Antron 99 and this meter.I received the product with the needle and meter assembly detached from the chassis and rolling around inside. Rather than return it, I reattached it with hot glue. The meter was quite inaccurate, judging by the comparison of readings between the scales; 2.5 watts on the lowest scale would register more than 5 watts on the next scale up.The SWR functioned well enough to get me in the ballpark.I bought this meter as a temp, to see if I still enjoyed the hobby, in which case I could invest in a better meter down the road.It completely died 3 days after the return period at which point I bought the MFJ 941e. The MFJ shows more than 5 watts where the Workman showed 2.5.One star.Premature failure, inaccurate when it did work, received with broken window needle.

but this is definitely a good item to keep around for fine tuning
indispensable when repairing a CB Radio and replacing/troubleshooting a final drive transistor, the factory CB Radios come with a basic SWR/power meter, but this is definitely a good item to keep around for fine tuning, and a must if you do any work on Citizens Band Radios either mobile or have a "base station" configuration at your home for doing DX

Good meter, accurate and quality item
Good meter, accurate and quality item.Only thing I didn't like was to have the meter light up need to connect to 12 volt system. A 9 volt battery system would have been better.
