Q: this product connects to the internet via wifi?

Thanks for your interest. Yes, this is a package that includes several different components sometimes sold separately so that you get the monitor itself and the wifi hookup. I have had one of these on my reef tank for several years. Twice i have been traveling on business and received an email alert from my Seneye that warned me that my temperature was too high and climbing on the tank. I was 3000 miles away, but I was able to call a family member and tell them to unplug the heater and no harm was done. The temperature monitoring alone is worth the price of the unit. Thanks for your question! The Seneye WiFi Module allows you to upload without plugging into a PC or router. Instead, it will upload wirelessly from the module to your router. You would certainly need your router close enough that the module can reach the router (so if you don't get WiFi in the room with your aquarium, that would be an issue). We have this in our aquarium and it's about 30' away from the router (in a straight line, but not visible). It does occasionally lose signal, so I wouldn't recommend further than that. — Steve at Practical Garden Ponds, 484-237-2080

Q: Does this measure Nitrate or Nitrite levels?

No, just ammonia, ph and your lighting PAR level. Really isn't think on the market that measures Nitrate and Nitrite yet. Pinpoint has a nitrate monitor, but it's not continuous.
