Sango 16 Piece Nova Dinnerware Set, Black

I purchased this set to replace some pieces of the original Sango Nova Black set. I will be returning this set because the glaze is different (and not as pictured). The original coloration was more of an ombré fade (black rim faded to a thick layer of beige, which faded to ivory). The coloration of this new set has the black rim, a super thin layer of a grey/green, no beige layer, and is mostly white. The plates are larger than the original as well, and the glaze quality is poor on the coffee mugs, 2 of which had huge areas that missed a uniform coating of the white glaze. If you liked the original ombré beige coloration, you will likely be disappointed as I am.

We bought two sets of these dishes and are regretting the decision. In each set, one of the bowls was broken. We contacted Amazon, and the solution they ended up offering us was that they would send us TWO complete sets of these dishes to replace the broken bowls, and then I would send the rest of the dishes back. Fortunately, they were able to schedule UPS pick-up, so I didn't have to lug 40lbs of dishes to a drop off center. However, UPS didn't show up when I was told they would, so this ended up sitting on my porch for several days including a blizzard, and I had to make a couple more phone calls.The dishes themselves are and awkward size. They are quite a bit bigger than our last set and don't fit nicely in the dishwasher. One of the mugs had a piece of grit lodged in the glaze right where your finger rests in the handle, so I ended up throwing it away. Several of the other pieces have developed hairline cracks after just a few uses and washes. We'll probably continue to make due with this set for a while, but I don't expect it to last very long.

This set is absolutely amazing and the price is great for the quality! We purchased two sets. Well packaged upon delivery. We had this dinnerware set for over 6 months and use them everyday, several times a day. I'm not sure why other reviews report weak material because the material is very strong. We use it for all type of meals from steaming hot rice to freezing cold ice cream. The shape of each piece is why we decided to purchase this set. The bowls are perfect for so many meals. The larger plates are huge and it ensures nothing falls off your plate. Dishwasher, microwave, and child safe to use. My kids use these dishes everyday, including our 2 year old, and they love it!

The dinner plate is like a wide flat bowl. The eating surface extends all of the way to the edge. There's no fru-fru border that can't hold food on it, this plate holds a lot of food.I had an old set I bought in 2007 and just bought another set. The new plates are about 1/2" wider than the old ones.

I was glad that I was able to find another set. I used these for replacements. These have a tendency to crack. This is the 2nd replacement set I have had to purchase. Bowls and coffee cups hold up well.

Needed a set to replace/match broken (couple) plates in my original settings. I was concerned that these would not "really" match. They did - no difference.

The dishes don't hold up for continuous high heat dishwasher cleaning. They get fracturing and soon after break. Not sure how they would hold up under "normal" usage. Dishes used at a beach rental.

I’m so happy all my dishes arrived in good condition . One flaw in a dinner plate. However, I’m sure that was from the manufacturer. I’ve used this same set of dishes since the early 2000’s. 19 years... this is my third set. I heard that they don’t make them anymore. So , I was happy to see them for sale on Amazon.
