If a Mac is what you need, get this one!
I haven’t had a MacBook in nearly 7 years as my previous MacBook was stolen and I couldn’t afford to replace it. But I was blessed with the opportunity to replace it last year and decided to go for this beaut because of the price! Yes, this is at the cheap end of these new style MacBooks believe it or not! It was either get one from the Apple shop for a lot more on price, or purchased a pre-owned and refurbished one. And I must say I made the best decision to look on Amazon because they have more affordable MacBook and I am honestly overjoyed with this one!I’ve had this for a year now and I decided to review a year later to let you know how it’s going so far! I am a musician, I sing, song write, produce and engineer music and I use this MacBook to do all three and have multiple programs and software installed to do so. Considering this only has 8gb of RAM, I am yet to experience any crashing - it just works and it works well!I had to google what the M1 Chip was - I’m not completely tech savvy so I felt no shame in doing so! Especially if I’m spending my money on it lol! All I know is this MacBook works super fast and doesn’t lag or buffer like my previous one.The battery life on this is pretty good! You can get around 6-8 hours of work done on it before it needs a full charge - in my experience. If you are streaming a movie then the battery will drain a lot quicker. In a nutshell, this was brilliant investment and if you’re thinking about it and can afford it… just go for it!

New to MacBook computers , always used windows ... really liking the change , superb laptop!
Yes always had a windows computer since the late 90's but in high-school they always had apple Mac computers and I've always wanted one ... one for reliability and robustness but back in my younger years we could never afford one . spring into the future I grew up using a Commodore 64 then in the late 90's we went onto windows which we still use but its mostly my children for games . anyhow my dream computer has always been an apple one and finally I now own one and its mine and I love it and looks like I got it at a right time with the new M1 chip & the Big Sur update , I'm not totally apple newbie we have iPhones , iPads and iPod touchs but I am totally new to apple computers apart from my high-school days 80's .I love all there is about this little laptop , speed , battery life , ease of use , I'm not a gamer so I don't play any games but I use it for office 365 and will use it for photo editing and the usual social media ( via safari ) Facebook & twitter ,. and online shopping is a breeze inc emails , I must admit I'm still getting used to some things because some things are different to windows but its been a smooth transition so far for me . I've downloaded Minecraft , sims 4 origin , for my children they were the ones used on our windows computer but can be transferred over to Mac computers .As I said I'm new to apple computers and I can highly recommend it , you'll love the battery life I charge it up either every 24hrs or 48hrs depending on use but my laptop gets used every day from morning until evening and without having to plug it in to charge it every 2-3 hours like before now its one charge every 24hrs , I get a whole full day without having to plug it in so simply amazing . speed it superb .. no lag and no crashes . laptop is fully customisable so you can have it to how you want it and you can FaceTime, text message , iOS & iPados apps can all be installed if they are compatible with your MacBook Pro and this laptop does not over heat so you can actually have it on your lap or on your bed for as long as you want without the worry of it getting hot or the fan being noisy , its so quiet in fact its pure silent ... no noise what so ever .laptop comes securely packed and with a usb-c cable and a 61 watt huge charger plug and instructions, stickers . easy set up and turns on as soon as you open the lid and apple run through a step by step set on instructions , all simple and easy to do . if you do get stuck with anything there are plenty of videos on YouTube that should help you out .Yes fully recommend this little 13 inch MacBook Pro m1 laptop .Edited to add : 2021One year later and M1 MacBook Pro still working as fast as it was new , absolutely still highly recommend this little 13” inch MacBook Pro . I have updated it to the newer Monterey from big sur with no difficulty’s , it was pretty straightforward and backed up MacBook Pro before doing so . I can recommend a good screen protector & shell case to protect it from and scratches or scrapes mine were purchased last year and they are doing a great job . I Also purchased the apple extended warranty ( under 60 days from purchase) . This little MacBook 💻 suits my needs very well , perfect .Screen protector & case both made by moshi , I will review them so you can see them , as I said mine were fitted 1 year ago and they are serving their purposes by giving my MacBook Pro that added extra bit of protection from any scratches and scrapes . I did also purchase the external SSD made by sandisk 1TB and I use that to backup my MacBook Pro and to store old family photos etc and I can highly recommend that as well . I’ve also purchased whoosh cleaning spray & cloths and yes I can highly recommend that to look after your electrical gadgets and to keep them germ free and it’s good for cleaning your spectacles/ eye wear / glasses as well .Edited to add : 2022Yes still have my lovely MacBook Pro M1 13 inch , 512gb , 8GB . no problems to say , MacBook still running as good as it was new , yes I did purchase extended warranty through apple care + and up to yet ... touch wood I have not needed it . I have updated the OS to the newer Ventura 13.1 and had no problems , liking the newer features . I must add that I did add to my MacBook Pro a screen protector and a shell case to protect it from scratches etc , the screen protector is removable and can be cleaned and put back on to MacBook glass screen . I do back up MacBook regularly using a sandisk SSD 1tb . Yes can still highly recommend and my MacBook gets used a lot for windows 365 office and safari and shopping etc . Battery health after 2 years is 92% and battery cycle is 148 . I did purchase the apple MacBook extension cable back in 2020 and can highly recommend that for your MacBook Pro M1 .

The most superior laptop to exist. One bug (see bottom)
I had previously own several laptops in my life ranging from basic notebooks to a Dell XPS 15, all of these eventually broke from system faults. I had previously owned a Macbook pro and the 12" Macbook. These macbooks had the old "butterfly keyboard" which in all honesty was atrocious. I returned them as some keys became faulty and the laptops were tragic.I write in my spare time, and on my desktop PC which I bought an expensive mechanical keyboard, I managed to write but get fatigue after a minium of 500 words, producing good writing took some time and effort and hand strain. I then decided to go for a Macbook Pro, mainly for a tablet alternative for media consumption, which also had the new magic keyboard (first introduced in the 16-inch Macbook Pro), this was last released in the 13" around June, but I waited for what I thought would be a 14" refresh (which may come in 2021) but instead Apple announced it's transition to Apple Silicon.I was doubtful of Apple silicon, but when I saw the reveal and the expected performance it persuaded me to not go for a Dell XPS 13 or a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon, but instead back to Apple, AMD is already far superior to Intel chips, the M1 may be even better. Currently I only use scrivener, Chrome and spotify, so RAM isn't an issue and 8gb is more than enough. This laptop is cabaple of advanced programs that use a lot of CPU and GPU power, such as Adobe lightroom/photoshop and even video editing software, from what I've seen of reviews the rendering and process is superior to anything currently on market and should suit most needs, but if you are a more power user, or want to future proof your laptop get the 16gb RAM option, this wasn't avaiable on Amazon but I don't really need it.This is the first laptop I've had from Apple that included a touchbar, I thought it wouldn't be great, but for typing in Scrivener, the app has allowed the touchbar to recommend words, similar to that of a phone recommends as you type, and for longer words you aren't sure of to type, just like in a phone you can tap the bar for a word, it's good on lazy days. However, if you code, then the Macbook Air M1 is almost as powerful, it has phsyical function keys which are important for coding. I don't use function keys though.Back to writing, the keyboard is excellent, I can type for hours and not feel any fatigue, it has a fair amount of travel and also a satisfying click to it, which for me is actually better than a mechanical keyboard on a desktop PC. There is a keyboard option set as default to add a full stop if you press space twice in quick succession but this can be turned off, for a fast typer this is good, but some people may find the default settings suitable. The battery life is great, and shortly after purchasing ( on release day) I switched from just media consumption to writing exclusively on this.EDIT: I've now experienced issues when after logging in the mouse does not move, the solution is to press command + option and escape, use arrows and tab to quit all programs, push the power button and then press escape, forcing the laptop to shut down and on reboot it works well. This only happens if when you select the option to "reopen windows when logging in" if it is unchecked it happens less frequently, but the solution is the same.
