Overall this is a good stapler. We use it for program booklets. The box came torn and the staple box was open. Almost half of the staples in the starter pack are missing.

I had 1,200 6-page booklets to staple and needed to be sure I will have a decent long-reach stapler. The Bosch we had at work jammed every staple, so I made that stapler go away. Then I ordered a Swingline long-reach stapler because the reviews are favorable. Well, it jammed so badly on the first staple (only 6 regular pages) that I sent it back right away. Then I researched more in-depth and came up with the Novus B17. I little more expensive but not much. There were no reviews and the you tube clips from the manufacturer made it look like the cadilac of staplers. Could not wait to try it out but soon realized it was not much different from the other 2. Because I was busy at work, someone offered to help staple. That person had no patience and jammed every single staple and the booklets looked horrible. My middle name is patience so I took it upon myself to figure out the subtle tricks of the Novus B17. First of all, the stapler does not like when the staples are not one long unbroken piece. Put 3 or 4 smaller staple bars together and it jams. So once I started putting in just one unbroken staple bar at a time, it worked better. Secondly, it still jammed every 20-30 booklets and then I noticed very small pieces of broken stapler on my desk. It could be that the metal pieces fell out after I unjammed it. Thirdly, after stapling 300 booklets with my dominant right hand (and I got tired), I switched to my left hand. No this hand did a much smoother staple. Not so much pressure maybe? Fourthly, when the staple jams, the release button of the staples also jammed and I found the best way to undo this was to use a pliers to flip the front staple area down to release the jam.Stapling should not be this complicated, but it is. I usually don't go into this much detail, but if you are trying to find out of this stapler is right for you, these are helpful hints to keep in mind.

Much better product than the first one I bought which broke within a month (and we don't do that much large format stapling).

I've had a terrible time finding a heavy duty stapler that can do lots of sheets *and* has a deep-throat; it seems almost all staples are one or the other, not both. I found this one and bought it, but I'm very disappointed with its 40-sheet rating. Even with 28/8 staples (ordered from Germany and took weeks to arrive and cost $10), the thing won't go through my 26-page booklet (that's 26 sheets of paper). I have discovered that if I press down on the stapler so the staple is about to go through the paper and then punch it really hard, it will staple, but it's a lot of effort and doesn't always work. For the price, this should be better.

I read the poor reviews but decided to take a chance as the product type really met my needs. Sadly all those poor reviews were accurate and I have struggled through my project...

Love this stapler, but don’t try too many sheets.

Quite sturdy.

I ordered this stapler to be used next summer. The box it came in was a mess and must have been returned previously. I returned it and reordered and the next one came in the same condition. No instructions or staples were included.
