Cleans Aid Well, Quiet Enough For Sleep On Low, Filters Not Cheap, Some Initial Electronics Smells
The AeraMax PT65 is a double filter air purification unit. I'm not sure what really distinguishes a "purifier" from a "filter". Maybe the "double thick" carbon filter to absorb odors. The other filter is a High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance (HEPA) filter designed to remove tiny particles from the air like pollen and other allergens.CAPACITY:With the windows open on a nice summer day (or night) it's not going to be useful. I actually had someone ask me about this! This is best used in a closed air conditioned space. It is designed for rooms up to 21 square meters or 225 square feet. A decent sized master bedroom or moderate family room. It can't filter the whole outdoors!FILTERS:At the time of this review filter replacements are not inexpensive but maybe not outrageous depending on how long they actually last... I have not had to replace mine yet. A replacement HEPA filter at the time of this review is $50. The double thick carbon filter replacement is $27.35. Both have a Fellows recommended annual replacement cycle with "normal use" meaning plan on $78/year in filters.IN USE:I think the PT65 did a good job at filtering allergens and odors when a recent hot spell had me closing up and cranking the AC. Once it was "run in" I felt my indoor air quality was improved. When I turned it on the first time I noticed a new motor/electronics/industrial "stink" in the air blowing out. It went away before very long as the unit ran in. After I opened my windows to listen to the rain the room became very humid in the room and when I turned on the PT65 I noticed that wet pet smell for a few moments, but it went away. I attribute this to the smell to running damp air through the unit. The PT65 has 3 speeds. On high it seems too noisy for a bedroom but low is very acceptable for me. When I turn it on after not using it for a while I'll use high speed to try to run the air in the room though the filter, then drop to medium or low to maintain air quality more quietly.CONCLUSIONS:The AreaMax Pet PT65 Air Purifier seems to work pretty well once it is run-in and new electronic smells are gone. I noticed some "wet pet" kind of smell when starting the unit in a very humid room which passed quickly. Outside of this I did not notice any odors from the unit and generally felt I had cleaner air than without it.If starting it up after being off a while I start on high to run the air in the room through quickly then turn it down to maintain air quality much more quietly. In my bedroom I run it on low for minimum noise for sleeping. It's pretty quiet on low. This seems to work well for me.Given a recommended annual replacement cycle the filters don't seem too expensive. But they are not cheap either. If annual replacement is overly optimistic I don't think it's a good choice. So far it's pretty good but not perfect. I'm giving it 4 stars.

Easy set-up and use...
When I was offered this product from the Vine program, as always, I ask myself: Do I really need this? I decided I do not, but I realized that my son might. He is temporarily staying with us, along with his two cats, which raises the overall total of felines to five. The product is billed as a single room air purifier, and since the two cats are staying in his room most of the time, this seems like a good option for maintaining his quality of "clean air" life. As an additional consideration, he does have allergies to some forms of pollen, and so it was thought his sleep might also be improved.I said it is all yours, so the following are mainly his thoughts. Set-up? A breeze. Only a minute or so. It is sleek, black, and "unobtrusive." In the room, you really don't even note its presence. Some other reviewers have said that it "stinks." My son reports that if you put your face next to it, there is what he calls a "fake, clean smell." But if you are anywhere else in the room, you don't notice it. Others reviewers have complained about the noise, on the higher settings. There is truth to that, but he runs his on low, so it is not an issue. As for those restful nights, it is not pollen "season" so there was no real test, but this review will be updated next spring when it is.And the economics? Seems like there is a strong element of the "razor blade" model, except, in this case, the razor is not free, by any means. To be clear, the "model" is predicated on the idea that you can give away the razor, and make all your money on the razor blades. It has always seemed to me that computer printers use much the same model. But at the current price of $200 this particular "razor" is hardly being given away for free, yet the replacement filters are expensive, and should be replaced every 90 days. Overall, 4-stars.

Too Noisy Even On Lowest Level
I already have a small air purifier that I keep in my bedroom because it seems to be the one room that always collects dust and I have allergies that cause me to wake up during the night congested. When I saw the AeroMax Air Purifier was created specifically for pet owners, I thought that might work better because I have a cat ,who sleeps on my bed with me. I was wrong. I'm not saying the AeroMax does not work at all, I just don't feel it is better than what I am using.First,it says on the box that it is quiet. Well, I can tell you that it's not THAT quiet. If you leave the fan set to low, it's not terribly loud, but my other purifier is quieter on the highest setting. I can actually hear this in my living room when I'm watching TV. I would never be able to set the fan to high, especially in my bedroom because it's keep me from falling asleep. I do NOT suggest it for bedrooms unless you aren't bothered by noise at night.Another thing that I am concerned with is the expense of buying TWO replacement filters. The HEPA and the carbon. I know having two filters probably makes it more effective, but these filters are not cheap. I am guessing my the amount of dust I already had to clean off them in little over a month, I would be buying them often.I don't really feel this product is worth the money it costs as well as for replacement filters, plus it doesn't seem to do that much better of a job than what I have , which is smaller in size and less noisy at the highest speed. What I did like is the fact it's black and less noticeable, but appearance is not as important as quality to me. Also, it did not come with any type of instruction manual. Just a fold out which didn't say much. This might work for someone with a larger house if you put it somewhere where the noise will not interfere , but it's not for me. I'll stick to what I have
